The present paper aims to explore the effects of organizational culture (formality, rationality, ... more The present paper aims to explore the effects of organizational culture (formality, rationality, achievement orientation, participation and collaboration, communication professional orientation and teacher autonomy) and transformational leadership on work engagement and teacher's performance. Data for this cross sectional survey study were collected from 251 teachers drawn from fifteen Islamic high school in Jakarta. Partial least square-structural equation modeling-(PLS-SEM) was used to test the research hypotheses. The results suggest that both organizational culture and transformational leadership were positively and significantly related to work engagement.; and organizational culture, transformational leadership and work engagement were positively and significantly related to teacher's performance. This study not only contributes to work engagement research model by identifying the organizational culture and transformational leadership as antecedents, but also is of importance to provide new theoretical and empirical insights and analyze the further effects of organizational culture and principal's leadership towards work engagement and teacher performance within an educational organization with Islamic background.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji model pola hubungan antara budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji model pola hubungan antara budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan, dan karakteristik personal sebagai faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keterikatan kerja dan Kinerja Guru. Survei dilakukan pada 25 Sekolah Menengah Atas Berlatar Belakang Islam yang terakreditasi A di Provinsi DKI Jakarta dengan total responden sebanyak 416 guru. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah partial least square-structural equational modeling (PLS-SEM) menggunakan bantuan program SMARTPLS. Hasil penelitian berhasil membuktikan adanya pengaruh budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan, dan karakteristik personal terhadap keterikatan kerja guru, dan juga budaya organisasi, kepemimpinan, karakteristik personal dan keterikatan memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kinerja guru. The purpose of this study is to test a model of antecedents and consequences of work engagement i... more The purpose of this study is to test a model of antecedents and consequences of work engagement in an educational context. Organizational culture, leadership, and personal characteristics are placed as antecedents, while performance is defined as the consequence of the engagement. The survey was completed among 416 teachers from 25 high schools in Jakarta, averagely aged 38 and 54% of which are female. The participants had on average 11 years of work experience. The analysis technique is partial least square structural equational modeling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS. The findings prove that the influence of organizational culture, leadership, and personal characteristics on the teachers’ work engagement and organizational culture positively impact the teacher performance, supporting the results of the previous studies.
