To describe the epidemiological profile of breast cancer at the Lalla Salma Tiznit reference center. A retrospective study was conducted at the said center. Based on the exploitation of the files of patients with breast cancer. The data were collected over four years with a stratified sample of140 cases. The main obtained an average age of 60 years, 60% were married, the average age of the first menstruation was 12 years, 36% of patients were on the pill and 18% had a history of hormonal treatment. Multiparous women represented 34% and pouciparous women 42%. In addition, 90% of the cases had been breastfed. In this sense, the study proposes to promote a better organization of health care systems for isolated populations, emphasizing the importance of early detection to avoid advanced and metastatic stages that can be fatal. Keywords: epidemiological profile, breast cancer, women, Tiznit

Sometimes a possibility may look to be impractical because it goes against our accustomed style of working or is unacceptable because it does not offer a complete solution. However, people are getting used to the existence of new technologies. Already people have started using voice and electronic mail as preferred forms of communication in the same way as the use of remotely driven devices. http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dbit.13.5.3083

Such a change resulted in the concept of virtual libraries. Of the numerous virtual library applications, we envision a virtual walkthrough application. Here, a user, with access to the internet or intranet, can explore a specific place of interest without having to travel physically. The place of interest is modelled as a virtual world, containing a vast number of virtual objects. This paper describes the two modules of our project 'virtual walkthrough for Defence Science Library': (a) Module 1—General Browsing, provides the user with the interface to view the virtual tour of the DSL that allows users to visit the library and its services virtually through the web and (b) Module 2—Guided Tour, complements the text-based search of the user for the books with an extended multimedia interface for retrieval of books in the library. http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dbit.26.1.3670

Various types of network threats and security services are discussed. This will help in designing a secure and robust network infrastructure by discussing management security policies and risk analysis.

The plant kingdom is recognized as the most efficient producer of different biologically active compounds, which provide them with resistance against different pests. Some higher plant products have been currently formulated as botanical pesticides and are used on a large scale as ecofriendly and biodegradable measures in managing agricultural pests. Botanicals used in agricultural pest management are safer to the user and the environment. The interest in the possible use of natural compounds to control agricultural pests has notably increased in response to consumer pressure to reduce or eliminate chemically synthesized additives in foods. There is a wide scope of use of plant-based pesticides in the integrated management of different agricultural pests. A consolidated and continuous search of natural products may yield safer alternative contr...

A retrospective analysis of 214 patients with BDI who were referred to our center between January 1989 and December 2009 was done. One hundred fifty-three (71%) patients developed BBS (group I), and 61 (29%) were normal (group II). By univariate analysis, female gender (p=0.02), open cholecystectomy as the index operation (p=0.0001), delay in the referral from identification of injury (p=0.04), persistence of an external biliary fistula (EBF) beyond 4 weeks (p=0.0001), EBF output >400 mL (p=0.01), presence of jaundice (p=0.0001), raised serum total bilirubin level (p=0.0001), raised serum alkaline phosphatase level (p=0.0001), and complete BDI (p=0.0001) were associated with the development of BBS. Furthermore, open cholecystectomy as the index operation (p=0.04), delay...

The results of in vitro drug release showed that the matrix tablets prepared with pectin, hydroxy ethyl cellulose (20 percent) when coated with ethyl cellulose and cellulose acetate phthalate were found to be 63.0 percent, 8.4 percent, and 4.5 percent, respectively, in after eight hours during drug release study period. These results were confirmed with the results of roentgenographic studies in nine healthy human volunteers to find the shape and integrity of the dosage form. The X-ray photographs revealed that the enteric-coated tablet was visible only up to 5.5 hours and at the end of eighth hour, the photograph has not shown any presence of tablet indicating the loss of shape and size by the microflora present in the ...

Research paper thumbnail of Measurement of peak fluence of neutron beams using Bi-fission detectors

Damage track detectors are useful for personal dosimeters and for flux/dose determination of high-energy particles from accelerators or cosmic rays. A detector that has its principal response at nucleon energy above 50 MeV is provided by the fission of Bi-209. Neutrons produce the largest percentage of hadron dose in most high-energy radiation fields. In these fields, the neutron spectrum is typically formed by low-energy neutrons (evaporation spectrum) and high-energy neutrons (knock-on spectrum). We used Bi-fission detectors to measure neutron peak fluence and compared the result with the calculated value of neutron peak fluence. For the exposure to 100 MeV we have used the iThemba Facility in South Africa.
