Research paper thumbnail of Decentralized Clustering In Pure P2P Overlay Networks Using Schelling's Model

Clustering can be used to organize a P2P overlay network so that requests are routed more efficiently. The peers lack of a global awareness of the overlay network's topology in a P2P network makes it difficult to develop algorithms for clustering peers. This paper presents two decentralized algorithms for clustering peers. The algorithms are concrete realizations of of an algorithm called the abstract Schelling's algorithm (based on a model from sociology by Thomas Schelling) that can be used to create a family of self-* topology adaptation algorithms for P2P overlay networks. The proposed clustering algorithms are easy to implement, are not designed for clustering on a specific criteria and do not require separate algorithms to handle the flux of peers on the overlay network. The paper presents simulation results for applying the algorithm on random small-world topologies.

It eliminates the need of inner product evaluations in determination of signature of a combinational circuit realizing given Boolean function. The method for computation of probability coefficients using transform matrix, fast transform method and using BDD is given. Theoretical relations for achievable computational advantage in terms of required additions in computing all 2 n probability coefficients of n variable function have been developed. It is shown that for n ≥ 5, only 50% additions are needed to compute all probability coefficients as compared to spectral coefficients. The fault detection techniques based on spectral signature can be used with probability signature also to offer computational advantage.

The proposed antenna has been fabricated and the impedance bandwidth and radiation pattern are measured. The compact antenna size is 40 × 60 × 1.6 mm which can be integrated conveniently with other RF circuits. The simulated and measured antenna characteristics along with radiation pattern and gain are presented in the paper. It is stated that the proposed designed antenna can completely cover the required bandwidths of digital communication system (DCS 1.71–1.88 GHz), personal communication system (PCS 1.85–1.88 GHz) and IEEE 802.11 b/g (2.4–2.485 GHz) with satisfactory radiation characteristics. The experimental result shows that the proposed antenna presents a bandwidth 60.25 % covering the range of 1.431–2.665 GHz with the maximum radiation efficiency 90 %.
