Individual firms, companies, farmers, and family farms quantify the effectiveness of their farming processes. The modern age offers the possibility of digitally recording all the elements of farming technology, makin g it possible to analyse the cost-effectiveness of a farm more effectively and, in some cases, to carry out more detailed analyses. Nevertheless, the number of farms demonstrating their profitability with such precise economic calculations is still minimal. Our analyses were conducted on a 56,02 ha field of Balogh Farm-Tépe Ltd. The agricultural operations carried out were fully documented so that the inputs (seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, crop enhancers) were recorded in coordinates and kind, as well as the specific yields, grain moisture data, irrigation norms, and irrigation rotations. At the same time, the company's owner provided the data's monetary value. The main econometric indicators (yield, production value, cost of production, income, cost price) related to the evaluation of the enterprise management were evaluated along with the spatial data in the irrigated and non-irrigated tables. Our calculations show that a given year's climatic and market characteristics fundamentally determine the cost and income relations of a plot of land (and thus of an entire farm). In addition to additional inputs, introducing some elements of precision farming and intensification and increasing yields improves yield security and allows for excellent yield stability.

This paper analyzes the energy potential of the above-mentioned sources for energy applications in Kosovo. The analysis is based on statistical data from different studies and reports, analyzing and calculating them to determine the theoretical and energy biomass potential. Kosovo can increase its self-sufficiency by taking advantage of its rich but under-utilized potential of biomass energy sources. This is a novelty study in this area, considering Kosovo lignite-dominated heat energy and electricity consumption and the available special literature. According to our estimates, the theoretical potential is 6.13 million tons/year, while the biomass energy potential should be around 4.57 million tons/year, including approximately 74.6% of biomass, which can be used for energy needs (heating and electricity). Based on the data and calculations, the av...

Research paper thumbnail of Waste Algae for Bioenergy Generation to Mitigate Eutrophication and Greenhouse Emissions in Water Bodies

Periodica Polytechnica Chemical Engineering, Jun 2, 2023

It is caused by both endogenous and exogenous nutrient enrichment. This phenomenon degrades the water quality and simultaneously increases the greenhouse gases emission from waterbodies resulting in climate change Inland waterbodies contain enormous amounts of nutrients such as phosphorous, nitrogen, and carbon. Thus, it becomes essential to restore these nutrients using proper sustainable approaches. Algae-based technologies have received a lot of attention these days because of environmentally friendly and inexpensive treatment. About 70% of the nutrient load from wastewater can be removed using such technology. The recovered algal biomass after wastewater treatment contains various biomolecules which can be used for the producing of value-added products such as bioenergy in the form of biomethane and biodiesel, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals along with the synthesis of nanoparticles. Therefore, the primary goal of this review is to inform readers about the possibilities of a low-cost integrated biorefinery based on microalgae for resource recovery and to mitigate eutrophication and greenhouse gas emission from water bodies.

Acta agraria Debreceniensis, May 12, 2002

Besides environmental protection, energy saving, and decreasing overproduction of food. Additionally, the subsidisation of farmers and the development of rural sub-regions also contribute to its spread. This study specifically focuses on the direct effects biodiesel's raw materials and final products are now having on farmers, while reviewing and quantifying these effects. I have purposely restricted my analysis to these two elements of the biodiesel chain. The biodiesel chain seems to be a great method for improving the economic and social position of participant farmers in many ways. Presently, the profitability of raw materials' production looks to be the crucal point in the chain, and could be strengthened best with intensive, habitat-specific agrotechnic. It would only be possible to reach a favourable profit margin for farmers if yields reach unrealistic averages or if there is a significant hike of the 2000 producer's price in the oil plant branch. The main attraction of sunflower-and oilseed rape production lies in the stabilization of market conditions, which is not only gong to appear in oil plant branch but-thanks to the reduction of outputs-also in the cereal branches. Better economic safety for farmers may play a role at least on the same level as in plant production, which involves more risks than profit maximalization. The reduction of the prime cost of biodiesel could be possible through the direct combustion of the whole oilseed plant or its residues or electricity production using them. Whereas energy demand for biodiesel production is low (appr. 5%) but it needs subsidization and the prices of natural gas and electrical energy presently look favourable in Hungary. Additionally harvesting and baling of the residues is technically problematic, which is why their use may seem to be reasonable just over the middle or long term. Another possible factor of cost reduction could be the centralization of some partial operations, which needs serious financial resources to reduce amortization cost per product, provided there be several biodiesel projects near each other during establishment. Creation and operation of a logistical system could also be a good method for improving the viability of the biodiesel chain, in order to optimize transport schedule and distances. However there are also some organizational difficulties in this case.

Ez a tendencia Magyarországra fokozottan igaz, az urbanizációban élő népesség globális átlagot nagymértékben meghaladó aránya miatt. Jogi szempontból a fenntarthatóság terén a helyi önkormányzatok jelenleg önálló hatáskörrel alig rendelkeznek, többnyire csak indirekt módon képesek befolyásolni ezen folyamatokat. A cikkünkben elemzett kis- és középvárosok helyzete több szempontból különbözik a nagyvárosoktól: a fenntarthatósági problémák kisebbek, viszont kezelésükre kevesebb forrás áll rendelkezésre és a körkörös gazdálkodásról meglévő ismeretek is többnyire hiányosabbak. Tanulmányunkban az urbanizációval, a kis- és középvárosok jellemzőivel, a bennük alkalmazható körforgásos gazdasági lehetőségekkel foglalkozunk, röviden bemutatunk néhány jó gyakorlatot és saját kutatásaink alapján a körforgásos gazdaság helyi kialakításához szükséges beavatkozások típusait, szi...

The research included 243 internet-orientated participants and 30 farmers. The data was gathered through questionnaires (in both groups) and deep interviews (just in farmers). The results showed that the awareness of RES was high for especially solar, wind and hydro energy, the relationship among them was very strong. It was justified that firewood was typically used by respondents with low income, but not considered as renewable energy source, similarly to Hungary and the USA. A special feature of Kosovo is that electricity has very high importance for the man in the street, even for heating. Better education, higher income and environmental-consciousness definitely support better knowledge of RES, similarly to international tendencies. Males and employed participants had more knowledge about RES than females, or unemployed ones. Moreover, the results showed that the participants prefer environment rather than convenience, which is also typical of less wealthy countries. Our results might be useful as a typical less developed country case study for international comparison and helps to eliminate the unknown willingness in RES for the development of future agricultural strategies in Kosovo.

Ez a tendencia Magyarországra fokozottan igaz, az urbanizációban élő népesség globális átlagot nagymértékben meghaladó aránya miatt. Jogi szempontból a fenntarthatóság terén a helyi önkormányzatok jelenleg önálló hatáskörrel alig rendelkeznek, többnyire csak indirekt módon képesek befolyásolni ezen folyamatokat. A cikkünkben elemzett kis- és középvárosok helyzete több szempontból különbözik a nagyvárosoktól: a fenntarthatósági problémák kisebbek, viszont kezelésükre kevesebb forrás áll rendelkezésre és a körkörös gazdálkodásról meglévő ismeretek is többnyire hiányosabbak. Tanulmányunkban az urbanizációval, a kis- és középvárosok jellemzőivel, a bennük alkalmazható körforgásos gazdasági lehetőségekkel foglalkozunk, röviden bemutatunk néhány jó gyakorlatot és saját kutatásaink alapján a körforgásos gazdaság helyi kialakításához szükséges beavatkozások típusait, szi...

Research paper thumbnail of Preferences and knowledge of farmers and internet-orientated population about renewable energy sources in Kosovo
