These assets play a key role in global competition. Especially in increasing the innovation capacity of Small and Medium Industries (IKM). In this case innovation means introducing new products, making qualitative changes to existing products, introducing new processes in industrial organizations, creating new markets, and developing new sources of raw materials or other inputs. Much knowledge is stored in individuals, which is called tacit knowledge. Sharing tacit knowledge among individuals associated with industry organizations can increase the capacity of innovation previously explained. This study analyzes the relationship between sharing tacit knowledge and organizational innovation capabilities. Certain SMI employees located in Semarang, Central Java were the respondents for this study. Opinions as many as 45 members of each IKM have been analyzed using the hypothesis testing method. The tourism industry must adopt sustainable business practices and improve its performance to overcome this. Support system facilities, stakeholders, and the application of open innovation can help increase optimal performance and support in achieving a sustainable tourism industry. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to propose a collaborative model of open innovation, stakeholders, and support system facilities to develop a sustainable tourism industry in a dynamic and competitive environment. This study uses quantitative methods for analysis. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the criteria of SMEs scattered around the tourist area. The research model was analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using data from 358 respondents from SMEs in the tourist area of Rembang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, and Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The study results show that performance improvements can significantly and positively affect the sustainability of the tourism industry (β = 0.530; p = 0.005, p ≤ 0.05). The tourism industry's performance can be achieved by implementing open innovation, participation of stakeholders, support system facilities, and environmental dynamism (p ≤ 0.05). However, environmental competitiveness is not proven to improve the tourism industry's performance (β = 0.022; p = 0.120, p ≥ 0.05), because every organization and stakeholder is interdependent. Theoretically, this research contributes to the debate about how open innovation, stakeholders, support system facilities, and environmental dynamism can improve tourism's performance, ultimately achieving a sustainable industry. Practically, this research benefits stakeholders and SMEs in formulating an appropriate policy for achieving a green industry. The object of the research is the Small Medium Industry (SMI) of leather and puppet in Yogyakarta. Based on the result of data processing through the technometric concept of technology management, it was found that TCC value of 0.0073 which classified the technology used by the SMI of Maju Karya as traditional technology. Although relatively low, the current technology condition of the SMI of Maju Karya has reached ideal condition. It shows the SMI has utilized its capabilities optimally. The further step is to test the hypotheses for the variables constructed in the research model using SmartPLS software. The result of data processing concluded that hypotheses of H11 and H21 are accepted. It means both the technology component and strategic management have a positive influence on competitive advantage. The last phase is to analyze the strategic position of the business portfolio by using the BCG Growth-share matrix. The result of data processing categorized the SMI of Maju Karya as Cash Cows.

In the face of obstacles, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) owners should be able to innovate to improve competitiveness. Innovation process that was done was not separated from human resources within the organization. Innovation process is not separable from the human resources in an organization. The existence of new knowledge is an absolute condition for innovation to happen, and as the continuation, the process of knowledge sharing will be highly important. Therefore the process of knowledge sharing must be well-managed to achieve an optimal result of innovation. This research produces a conceptual model picturing relation between sources of knowledge sharing, open innovation and green production.

Both types of knowledge are crucial for knowledge sharing within any organization as both are primary factors to boost innovation capability. Knowledge sharing process requires an enabler in its process. This research studies Small and Medium Industries (SMI), where knowledge sharing between one SMI to another is necessary, which enables a group of SMIs within a certain area to grow altogether. This research aims to analyze how the innovation capability of a company is influenced by knowledge sharing with the perspective of both tacit and explicit knowledge. The result shows that each indicator in every construct has a good validity, reliability, and significance level, which evidently suggests that a company’s capacity to share knowledge, both tacitly and explicitly, is indeed significant and influential towards the innovation capability of such company in this case, SMI.

This is important because the innovation process has shifted from closed innovation to open innovation which requires good management of organizational capabilities, especially in managing stakeholders and resources owned by the organization. However, in the current pandemic situation, SMEs have challenges in adopting and implementing these open innovations. In this study, a conceptual research model was compiled and produced which elaborated several previous references, and then tested empirically on respondents, namely in SMEs in Indonesia. The responses involved in this study were 218 SMEs, but the complete response are 206 respondents. Data testing was carried out using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) statistical method. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that there are four variables that significantly strengthen the effect of closed innovation on open innovation, namely financial capability, network, knowledge management system, and organizational culture (p < 0.01). The moderating variable with the most dominant influence is financial ability (β = 0.915, p < 0.01). Based on the results of this study, SMEs that have high financial capabilities or have advantages in terms of funding and financial management can make the transition from closed innovation to open innovation better or independently. There is one moderating variable that is not proven to be significant, namely technology. These findings can then be used to formulate appropriate policies to support the adoption of open innovation in the context of developing the ability of SMEs to survive during the pandemic.
