To overcome these crises, thermal power plants were commissioned to bridge the supply and demand gap. Deployment of thermal power generation resulted in an unsustainable energy mix with the higher cost of generation. In the last decade, policymakers have shown considerable interest in deploying renewable energy generally and wind energy particularly. Therefore, this paper evaluates some important drivers and barriers to wind power generation. SWOT-Delphi approach with Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis has been applied. The results show that the deployment of wind power can enhance energy security and environmental sustainability. Major barriers to wind energy are the presence of competitive energy resources, policy implications, and poor grid infrastructure. With this contrasting environment, the evaluation of drivers and barriers of wind power are insightful for formulating sustainable...

Recent research on single-image super-resolution (SISR) using deep convolutional neural networks ... more Recent research on single-image super-resolution (SISR) using deep convolutional neural networks has made a breakthrough and achieved tremendous performance. Despite their significant progress, numerous convolutional neural networks (CNN) are limited in practical applications, owing to the requirement of the heavy computational cost of the model. This paper proposes a multi-path network for SISR, known as multi-path deep CNN with residual inception network for single image super-resolution. In detail, a residual/ResNet block with an Inception block supports the main framework of the entire network architecture. In addition, remove the batch normalization layer from the residual network (ResNet) block and max-pooling layer from the Inception block to further reduce the number of parameters to preventing the over-fitting problem during the training. Moreover, a conventional rectified linear unit (ReLU) is replaced with Leaky ReLU activation function to speed up the training process. S...

In this system, a source and a destination are equipped with multiple antennas, and communication from the source to the destination takes place via a single antenna DF relay. The relay is an energyconstrained node and harvests energy from the received source RF (radio-frequency) signal. Then, using the harvested energy, the relay transmits information to the destination. The κκ − μμ shadowed fading includes different classical fading models as distinctive cases: Rayleigh, Nakagami-mm , κκ − μμ , Rician, and Rician shadowed fading. Using a PSR (power-splitting relaying) protocol, new and exact analytical expressions for the average capacity and throughput are derived in a delay-tolerant transmission mode. The system performance is analyzed for different number of antennas in different fading and shadowing environment. The derived analytical results are justified throu...

Marketing managers are continuously realizing the power of the brands. In today’s competitive environment measuring the exact association of brands is most desirable goal for the organizations. The aim of research is to test empirically the mediating role of brand association for brand awareness and brand loyalty of customers and non-customers. In order to investigate the mediating role of the brand association for customers and non-customers, primary data were collected through a survey from both customers and non-customers of a mobile phone. Findings of the study confirm the mediating role of the brand association for awareness and loyalty for both customers and non-customers. Statistical Results show that Brand associations mediating role does not differ for customers and non-customers, across the product categories whereas the level of the association influents the level of the loyalty for a ...

The κ–μ fading model is a general fading model that models wireless fading channel perfectly in line-of-sight (LOS) propagation environments and includes Nakagami- m , Rician, Rayleigh, and One-sided Gaussian fading channels as special cases. We consider an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a moving relay for forwarding the data signals from a source ground station (GS) to a destination GS. Our proposed system considers multiple antennas at the source and destination, whereas the relay has a single antenna. We derive a closed-form expression for the outage probability in terms of the generalized Marcum Q-function. We carry out the performance analysis by means of derived expression for the various antenna arrangements, distinct values of radius, and different values of fading parameters. Our results show that the number of ante...

Depending on imported fuel has not only increased GHG emissions, but it has also put a burden on the national exchequer and raised apprehensions on energy security. This paper thus investigates the consequences of oil-based power generation on the economy, environment, and energy security of Pakistan. SWOT-Delphi approach has been adopted. The study discovered that the use of imported oil for power generation is detrimental to the economy, environment, and energy security of Pakistan. It further suggests that Pakistan should immediately abandon oil-based power generation and explore green energy alternatives for its sustainable economic growth. This study uses a hybrid model that combines strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat (SWOT) analysis with the Delphi method.

In this setup, the downlink transmission segment is taken into consideration from the Base Station (BS) to two Mobile Stations (MS). The data is transmitted concurrently through two Relay Stations (RS) using the same frequency channel. It is assumed that the RSs use decode-and-forward (DF) strategy. In this technique of beamforming, pre-coding vectors are used at the RS to alleviate co-channel interferences. Due to this strategy, each user will be able to get its own data sans interference. Two pre-coding techniques which incarnate two different transmission protocols have been proposed. Simulations results show that such type of schemas outperforms their counterpart brethren schemas.

Increasing number of cores on a single chip has made the concept of Network on Chip (NoC) a standard communication backbone among cores. This facility comes with vulnerability of faults in the system due to decreasing size of transistors. A permanent fault in the network leads to undesirable consequence such as permanent blocking of flits or failure of the whole router. Preserving the router in the operational state has a significant impact on the reliability of the system. Permanent fault in buffers and pipeline stages of the router has a high impact on performance. The proposed router architecture Protector provides faults protection to both buffers and pipelines stages by exploiting the concepts of borrowing from other resources, using bypass paths and by creating multiple paths to reach output. The proposed router incurred an area overhead of 30% as compared to the baseline design. Reliability ...

In the literature, many issues that have a direct impact on the increase of waste and the improper disposal of waste have been investigated. Most of the existing work in the literature has focused on providing a cost-efficient solution for the monitoring of garbage collection system using the Internet of Things (IoT). Though an IoT-based solution provides the real-time monitoring of a garbage collection system, it is limited to control the spreading of overspill and bad odor blowout gasses. The poor and inadequate disposal of waste produces toxic gases, and radiation in the environment has adverse effects on human health, the greenhouse system, and global warming. While considering the importance of air pollutants, it is imperative to monitor and forecast the concentration of air pollutants in addition to the management of the waste. In this pape...
