Patients with this condition describe severe pain when walking and taking steps. Research on the quality of information available on the Internet is lacking. In our study, we aimed to analyze the videos about Hallux Rigidus on YouTube, one of the video sharing applications. Methods: Our research is based on data collected from a video sharing site (YouTube) on 12 July 2023. The search is done through the configuration process. "Change hallux" was typed into the search engine. The popularity of the video was analyzed using the Video Power Index (VPI) [(Like/(Like+Dislike)) x 100]. Videos were classified into five different groups based on the source they were uploaded to: [1] Community/Nonprofits, [2] Medical Professionals, [3] Medical Schools Patient, [4] Universities / Schools, and [5] Patients / Independent users / Other places. The quality of movies is evaluated with the Global Quality Score (GQS). All videos were evaluated by one surgeon. A modified DISCERN scale was used to assess the reliability and quality of information provided in the videos. Results: Fifty videos were analyzed in this study. The average number of views of the video is 6507, and the average length of the video is 958 seconds. When the video-based scores of the DISCERN variable were compared with the GQS, the scores of the patient/independent user/other group were lower, but it was not significant (p>0.05). Conclusion: We believe the content of this video is good and informative. Do not use channels other than healthcare providers or dubious channels, as videos uploaded by individuals can be misleading.

Various factors can impact fracture healing, both negatively and positively. This study aimed to investigate the influence of omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor prescribed to mitigate the side effects of non-steroidal anti-ınflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for pain management post-fracture treatment and for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis, on fracture union through an animal experiment. Materials and Methods: The study utilized 40 male Wistar-Albino rats obtained from the Experimental Research Laboratory. Employing the simple randomization method, the animals were divided into experimental and control groups, with tibia fractures induced and subsequently fixed intramedullarily. At the conclusion of the sixth week, comprehensive histological, radiological, and biomechanical assessments were conducted to compare fracture union and bone biomechanical strength with the control group. Results: Histological and radiological evaluations were conducted on the tibias of 40 male Wistar-Albino rats. In terms of biomechanical analysis, 14 tibias from the control group and 16 tibias from the study group were examined. Remarkably, the study group exhibited superiors union compared to the control group both histologically (p=0.033), radiologically (AP1 view; p=0.040, AP2 view; p=0.036, LAT1 view; p=0.081, LAT2 view; p=0.03), and biomechanically (p=0.047), following omeprazole use. Conclusion: The administration of omeprazole as a proton pump inhibitor following fracture treatment contributes positively to the process of fracture healing.

Patients and Methods: The patients who applied to our hospital with shoulder dislocation between January 2017 and December 2018 were examined retrospectively. The data of a total of 306 patients were obtained from the database. 125 patients which have no radiological imaging of shoulder dislocation were excluded from the study. Incidence, demographic characteristics, type of dislocation, presence of additional injuries, etiology of dislocation, recurrent dislocation, length of hospital stay and reduction of dislocation were evaluated. Results: A total of 181 patients, including 140 (77.34%) male and 41 (22.65%) female, ages ranging from 12 to 93 (mean 39.98 age) were included in the study. During the study year, the incidence of primary shoulder dislocation was 18.9/100,000 per year (14.4/100,000 for men and 4.4/100,000 for women). 153 of the patients (84.5%) had only one and 28 (15.4%) patients had at least two times history of shoulder dislocation. 172 of the patients' shoulder were closed reduced under sedation in the emergency department and nine of them were closed reduced in the operating room under general anesthesia. Conclusion: The incidence of the study is 18.9/100.000 and similar to the previous studies in the literature. This result may be explained by the regional demographic diversity of the patient population.

A total of 195 patients who underwent PFN surgery due to IFF in January 2014 and January 2018 in our institute and with at least six months follow-up periods were included in the study. Demographic data, comorbidities, Evans-Jensen fracture classification, anesthesia risk scores, hospitalization duration, time to surgery, duration of surgery, amount of blood loss, whether additional traumas exist, quality of reduction, complication rates, Harris hip scores (HHS), Fogagnolo Reduction Quality criteria and possible correlations between these variables were evaluated retrospectively. In our study, the majority of the patients were found to be between the ages of 70-90. Hypertension was found to be the most common comorbid disease in the patients (50.2%). The fracture type of the majority of the patients was determined as type 4. The majority of patients were identified as ASA III and ASA IV group patients (38.4% and 35.9%, respectively). Successful HHS was found at a rate of 77.5%. As the fracture type worsened, the HHS score worsened (p<0.05). Reoperation rates were significantly lower in those with good reduction quality than those with poor reduction (p<0.05). A significant association was found between the overall complication rate and reduction quality (p<0.05). A significant and negative correlation was found between HHS scores and total complication rates (p<0.05). Intertrochanteric femur fractures are frequently encountered by orthopedists. These fractures, which require surgical intervention in almost all of them, are important because the population is old and prone to complications, and accurate and rapid surgical intervention is required. Our results suggest that PFN surgery is an appropriate choice for IFF.

Methods: The study included 214 patients (86 males and 128 females; mean age: 39.3 (18e75) years) who received PRP injections for tendinopathy refractory to conventional treatments. The mean duration of symptoms at the moment of the PRP treatment was 8.3 months. Primary outcome measurement was perceived improvement in symptoms for each anatomic compartment for upper and lower limbs at 6 months after treatment. Also, a visual analog scale (VAS) score (pain intensity on a 0e10 scale) was used for pain scoring questionnaire before treatment, 6 weeks and 6 months following the PRP injection(s). To identify factors associated with the likelihood of a better clinical outcome, patients were categorized on the basis of their perceived improvement in symptoms 6 months after the PRP injection(s)dthat is, as lower (less than 50% global improvement) or higher (more than 50% global improvement). Results: A visual analogue scale score and perceived improvement in symptoms were significantly lower after peritendinous injection in 6-week and 6-month follow-ups compared with the baseline (P < 0.001) except for peroneal and Achilles tendons. Overall, 83% of patients indicated moderate to complete improvement in symptoms. The most common injection sites were the lateral epicondyle, Achilles, and patellar tendons. Furthermore, 30% of patients received only 1 injection, 30% received 2 injections, and 40% received 3 or more injections. A total of 85% of patients were satisfied (more than 50% global improvement) with the procedure. In addition, upper limb tendons, increase in the age, and female gender were associated with a higher likelihood of perceived improvement in symptoms. Conclusions: In the present retrospective study assessing PRP injections in the treatment of chronic tendinopathy, a moderate improvement (>50%) in pain symptoms was observed in most of the patients. Our research found that results were most promising with patellar and lateral epicondylar tendinopathy in the short to medium term. Female patients, patients with upper extremity tendinopathy and older patients appeared to benefit more from PRP injection.

Our study aims to assess the morphological features of ankle bones in individuals residing in Turkey, utilizing ankle computed tomography (CT) images obtained from patients. Material and Methods: In our single-centre study, the data between 2018 and 2022 were scanned. The criteria for inclusion in the study were determined as being a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, being over the age of 18, and being under the age of 65. Results: 200 patients (100 men, 100 women) and 200 ankle CT images were selected by stratified sampling using the computerassisted randomisation method. APA, APG, MalW, MDA, MDV, MTiTh, SRTa, SRTi, TaAL, TaW, TiAL, Th, and TiW values were measured on computed tomography images. Conclusions: The morphological structure of the ankle bone varies from society to society and according to gender. These factors should be considered in implant design (especially in prosthetic design) and the application of these implants. Our study will guide the design of ankle implants (especially prostheses) for communities living in Turkey.

The literature has limited information on how these biomechanical changes may result in hip joint space. Material method Our retrospective study examined hip joint space narrowing in patients who underwent lumbosacral fusion between 2020 and 2022. In addition, spinopelvic parameters such as sacral slope, the sagittal vertical axis, pelvic incidence, lumbar lordosis, and pelvic tilt were compared in patients who underwent short-segment (up to three levels, S group) and long-segment (4 and higher levels, L group) fusions. Results Our study found no significant relationship between spinopelvic parameters and joint space narrowing in the S and L groups. In addition, it was determined that there was more narrowing in the hip joint space in the longsegment group, and there was a positive correlation between the segment length and the narrowing in the hip joint space. Conclusion After lumbosacral fusion, narrowing of the hip joint space was observed. Particularly patients with longsegment lumbosacral fusion should be followed closely regarding hip osteoarthritis risk.

Our study evaluated the surgical results of patients who underwent retrograde intramedullary nailing surgery. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients were treated with retrograde intramedullary nailing for femoral supracondylar fractures in a single clinic between January 2015 and September 2018. The clinical, functional, and radiological findings were analyzed retrospectively. Demographic data of the patients in our study, length of hospital stay, time until surgery, presence of additional trauma, complication rates, type of trauma, HSS and NEER scoring criteria for functional evaluation, and AO classification were used to determine fracture types. Results: Eighteen (60%) patients had high-energy trauma as the etiological cause, while 12 (40%) had fractures due to low-energy trauma. There were four open fractures and 26 closed fractures in the patients. The patients were evaluated according to the HSS and NEER evaluation systems. According to the HSS scoring system, 8 (26.7%) had excellent, 9 (30%) good, 12 (40%) moderate, and 1 (3%) poor results. According to the NEER scoring system, 7 (23.3%) excellent, 10 (33.3%) good, and 13 (43.4%) intermediate results were obtained. Conclusion: In supracondylar femur fractures, retrograde intramedullary nailing is a method that should be preferred in appropriate cases because of the low amount of bleeding, rapid mobilization, good union since the fracture hematoma is not evacuated, and good postoperative functional results.

People use the internet to get information about their illnesses and also to search for treatment options. Videos uploaded to Youtube do not go through the review process. The aim of our study is to determine the quality of videos related to child elbow fractures on Youtube. Material method The study was carried out with the data obtained from the video-sharing site www. youtu be. com on 01.12.2022. Pediatric elbow fractures are written in the search engine section. Information about the number of views of the videos, upload date, view rate (number of views per day), number of comments, number of likes and dislikes, duration, whether they contain animation and the publishing source were evaluated. The videos are divided into 5 groups according to their sources: medical society/non-profit organization, physician, healthrelated website, university/academic, and patient/independent user/other. The quality of the videos was evaluated using the Global Quality Scale (GQS). All videos have been evaluated by 2 researchers. Results In the study, 50 videos were included. In the statistical evaluation, no significant correlation was found between the modified discern score and GQS found by both researchers, and the number of views, the rate of views, comments, likes and dislikes, video duration and VPI. In addition, when the GQS and modified discern scores were compared according to the source of the video, it was found that the patient/independent user/other group scores were lower numerically, but there was no statistically significant difference in comparison. Conclusion Most of the videos about child elbow fractures have been uploaded by healthcare professionals. Therefore, we concluded that the videos are quite informative in terms of accurate information and quality content.

Identification of risk factors plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of the disease. In our study, the relationship between risk factors in lateral epicondylitis and blood group, which has not been mentioned before in the literature, will be examined. Patients and methods: In our study, patients' age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), dominant upper extremity, affected upper extremity, duration of symptoms, duration between onset of symptoms and hospital admission, occupation, number of children and youngest child age (if the patient is a mother), smoking, alcohol use, presence of additional diseases, sports activities, job requiring repetitive movements and strength in the upper extremities in daily life, marital status, where he/she lives and his/her blood type were questioned. In our study, there were 304 patients in the patient group and 304 patients in the control group. Results: In our study, blood type 0 was significantly more common in the patient group (p<0.001). Conclusions: In our study, it was concluded that there is a relationship between 0 blood group and lateral epicondylitis.

Bulgular Yapılan karşılaştırmalarda her...
