A crosssectional survey was designed, and convenience sampling was used. The relation between environmental awareness and green marketing has been tested for causality using statistical interference. The model is tested based on the online survey results of 26 individual customers from Lahore Pakistan by using SPSS. Five-point Likert scale was used to measure the constructs of environmental awareness, green marketing, and conscious-green consumers buying intention of green products. The findings of the research illustrate that environmental awareness and green marketing both influences customers buying behavior towards conscious and purchasing green products. The key findings of this research show a positive relationship between environmental awareness and green marketing. This study conveys important implications for organizations. Companies that influence their consumers to buy their products must market themselves as green. Green marketing campaigns by the companies can inspire millions of people, especially those living in developing countries like Pakistan to be environmentally conscious and vice versa. Environmentally conscious people can be triggered by green marketing communications to have purchase intention of green products. The shift of consumers being conscious and having an intention towards Purchasing Green products, especially after Covid 19 in developing countries makes this study an important one.

But with the passage of time due to anthropogenic activities such as, environmental pollution, industrial waste, use of effluents for agriculture purpose, the insect fauna has been facing the dramatic threat to their diversity particularly in most polluted areas. The present study was designed to find insects diversity variation under polluted environments (heavy metals) in agriculture fields having brassica and Rice crops. Two different sites, tannery and non-tannery area were selected for the sampling of insects. The total number of insects found in tannery area fields were 2195 and 3753 from the non-tannery area. The abundance of Melanoplus bivittatus (Say, 1825) was highest in non-tannery area and Acrida exaltata (Walker, 1859) was highest in tannery area fields. From the tannery area and non-tannery area, the maximum abundance 32% and 37% was found for order orthoptera. The cadmium concentration in tannery rice crops was 0.626 ppm and brassica concentration were 0.315 ppm. The concentration of cadmium in non-tannery area samples was 0.115 ppm for rice and 0.101 ppm for brassica plants while 0.1231 ppm for rice and 0.104 ppm for brassica insects. The concentration of lead in tannery areas of rice crops was 0.637 ppm and brassica concentration were 0.672 ppm. The concentration of lead in non-tannery area samples was 0.324 ppm for rice and 0.267 ppm for brassica plants while 0.214 ppm for rice and 0.266 ppm for brassica insects. The diversity and richness were recorded 3.11 and 3.525 for rice while 3.124 and 3.913 for brassica fields, respectively. The species maximum was seen in the non-tannery area and less abundance was recorded in the tannery area. It is further suggested that preventive measures should be taken to protect the insect diversity for balancing the ecological balance in the nature.

This research aims to decode the link between the symbolic discourses of seven advertisements of SWCs and the exploitation of human feelings for commercialism. An ecological discourse analysis of the Grammatical Metaphor (GM) used in SWCs advertisements has been conducted. The study draws on Fairclough's perspective of CDA in the systemic functional linguistic framework of the stratal model (Martin,1993b; Halliday, 1985). The results demonstrate that Ideational and interpersonal GMs are deployed to impart information that seems to be neutral through nominalization, mood, and modality to justify the sociocultural divide of fair and not fair beauty norms for commercialism.

For this purpose, the concept of Ideational Grammatical Metaphor premised upon Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory proposed by Devrim (2015) was applied to 50 expository essays drawn from International Corpus of Learner English (ICLE). The deployment of IGM linguistic resources (i.e., lexically dense nominal groups) in the text generates lexically condensed clauses, text cohesion, and causal linkages within the clauses (Thompson, 2014). The results reveal that most PELLs in this research contained an inadequate understanding of the cohesion and coherence realized by IGM linguistic resources in argumentative writing. The overuse of communicative conjunctions in the PELLs’ texts common in spoken English primarily formed their expository essays into descriptive texts. Pedagogically, it is safe to assume that,...

The current study evaluated the symptoms associated with PMS and their impact on the day-today activities of women. Methodology An observational cross-sectional study was conducted at a squatter settlement in Karachi, Pakistan, from January 2019 to February 2020. Amenorrheic, pregnant women, and women who were on birth control at the time of data collection were excluded from the study. The demographics, symptoms of PMS experienced by the participants, and the impact of PMS symptoms on the daily lives of women were recorded. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences v.25 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) was used for data analysis. Results The mean age ± standard deviation of 23.93 years ± 9.41 years was recorded. As many as 213 (63%) women reported dysmenorrhea, followed by fatigue in 108 (32%), bloating in 64 (18.9%), and back pain in 45 (13.3%) women. Irritability and anxiety were experienced by 134 (39.6%) and 117 (34.6%) women, respectively. When asked about their attitude and perception towards menstruation, more than four-fifth respondents confessed that they feel impure when they are experiencing their monthly period. About 38 women (11.2%) believed that menstruation is God's way of punishing the womankind. For the question, "Do you feel that your normal routine is significantly disturbed during your period?", 40% responded in affirmation. Conclusion The findings of the current study reflected a generally negative attitude towards menstruation, which significantly affected the routine lives of women in our setting. The study further concluded that dysmenorrhea, fatigue, irritability, and anxiety were the most common symptoms of PMS experienced by women.

Methods A total of 378 Poonch Medical College (PMC) students were included in this cross-sectional study. The academic motivation scores of the study subjects were measured using a 28-item, five-point Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) questionnaire originally developed by Deci and Ryan (1985). The tool was checked for internal consistency and was interviewer-administered. Motivation level was quantitatively presented and compared across gender and medical years. Results The highest mean motivation score (4.04 ± 2.71) was observed for the statement "Because this will help me make a better choice regarding my career orientation." The following statements showed a statistically significantly higher mean motivation level in females as compared to males: "Because eventually, it will enable me to enter the job market in a field that I like" (p .008) and "for the pleasure that I experience when I read interesting authors" (p .001). But for the statement, "I once had good reasons for going to college; however, now I wonder whether I should continue," males showed a higher motivation level (p. 0.19). A statistically significant difference in mean motivation level was seen across medical years for the following statements: "For the intense feelings I experience when I am communicating my own ideas to others," "For the pleasure that I experience when I read interesting authors," "Because this will help me make a better choice regarding my career orientation," "For the satisfaction I feel when I am in the process of accomplishing difficult academic activities," and "Because I want to show myself that I can succeed in my studies" (p-value <.05). Conclusion This study analyzed mean motivation scores for all AMS questions. The study identified that the most common motivational factor for pursuing medical education was because the students thought this will help them make a better choice regarding their career orientation.

Research paper thumbnail of Cohesion and Coherence in Pakistani Expository Argumentative Essays: A Corpus-Based Study

In such instances, alcohol based hand rubs have been endorsed by WHO as the gold standard for hand hygiene for visibly clean hands; whereas, for visibly dirty hands soap and water is recommended. In developing countries (like Pakistan), affected people frequently exceed 25%. However, limited infrastructure in these countries hinders the performance of hand hygiene, but the use of alcohol-based hand rubs in such adverse situations is a practical solution to these constraints. Methods: In January 2021, we initiated a 12 week cross-sectional study in a public sector tertiary care hospital of Karachi, Pakistan. All participants were given a self-designed questionnaire with a consent form thereby giving us permission to use the data. Data was analyzed using statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS version 23).Results: 84.3% of the participants had received pr...

Through a qualitative, empirical study we map the financial life cycles of 20 women micro-entrepreneurs in different cities in Pakistan and the challenges they face. We explore how technology is currently influencing these women's businesses and personal lives and reveal how mobile money is not tuned to the problems they face and their financial needs. We present alternate design directions for meeting the technological and financial needs of these women, circumnavigating the patriarchal structures that constrain them.

Research paper thumbnail of Assessment of Academic Motivation Level of Undergraduate Medical Students of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan

To assess the academic motivation level of undergraduate medical students of Azad Kashmir, Pakist... more To assess the academic motivation level of undergraduate medical students of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.
