One of the latest techniques used in three-dimensional positioning and modeling studies is terres... more One of the latest techniques used in three-dimensional positioning and modeling studies is terrestrial laser scanning. This technique is used in various engineering applications such as the documentation of historical buildings, deformation surveys, mining quarry and excavation applications, industrial applications, protection of the historical heritage and archeology, disaster monitoring, coastline applications, architectural and building surveying, transportation and infrastructure. While three-dimensional position information is surveyed using terrestrial laser scanning, the texture information of the objects is recorded by digital photo cameras and video cameras. The point clouds obtained through overlapped scanning from different stations are automatically combined by means of software programs and three-dimensional models are created. In the present study, overlapped scanning of the Karacabey Tomb was performed from different stations using Faro Focus 3D × 330 brand and model laser scanner. The point clouds were combined with Scene 5.3 software by using the common points obtained through the overlapped scanning of the tomb. The point clouds were colored by means of the photographs taken by the digital camera integrated in the scanner during the scanning process. The three-dimensional model of the Karacabey Tomb was obtained from the combined and colored point clouds.
In Turkey, road traffic has been increasing rapidly in province centers with the increase of the ... more In Turkey, road traffic has been increasing rapidly in province centers with the increase of the number of vehicles. The number of motor vehicles has shown an increase of 70 % within the last decade in Turkey. Inner-city traffic control is regulated by traffic lights and traffic control units. Electronic control systems have been developed to enable the control of the largest area by using the least human resource throughout all time periods. Electronic control systems and their areas of use are discussed in this study. The characteristics and advantages of electronic control systems are presented. The present speed warning systems on Ankara-Eskişehir highway and the speed lane system in Konya province are examined. The system was set up at 5 points as 10 speed lanes round in both ways. The ten lanes with lengths ranging from 1000 meters to 3500 meters were selected from areas where accidents intensified due to high speed and where the traffic did not stop considering the last three years. The communication of the lanes was maintained through fiber optic cable network and wireless network infrastructure. Experimental investigations of coastal erosion generated by the action of irregular waves were ca... more Experimental investigations of coastal erosion generated by the action of irregular waves were carried out in laboratory flumes. It is well known that both the field surveys and the experimental studies are not precise enough to give details about the suspended sediment load due to wave action. In this study, different wave groups were generated over the beach profile and the amount of coastal erosion were measured using terrestrial laser scanner. Then obtained results were compared with the results gathered by means of conventional instruments. It was concluded that comparing to the conventional methods, laser scanners can be effectively used to define the beach profile changes under wave actions.

Scientific recording of motion and providing feedback based on the evaluation of the recorded dat... more Scientific recording of motion and providing feedback based on the evaluation of the recorded data is an essential element of sport science. Today, motion analysis in sports can only be performed in a laboratory environment. In that case, fine differences specific to sports are lost and limited information can be achieved regarding the factors that bring success. The idea of performing motion analysis in sports by recording motions using digital video cameras and evaluating the recorded images through photogrammetric methods is a current issue in sport science. The aim of the present study was to describe a new photogrammetric method used in the analysis of sport movements. For this purpose, images were obtained using two 200 FPS+VGA+1394B Dragonfly Express video cameras. A calibration cage was used while recording the images. Afterwards, the recorded images were evaluated using Pictran, which is a software package for the photogrammetric evaluation of digital images.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada genç tenisçilerin başarılı ve başarısız tenis servisi atışları arasındaki ekle... more Amaç: Bu çalışmada genç tenisçilerin başarılı ve başarısız tenis servisi atışları arasındaki eklem açı farkları incelendi. Hastalar ve yöntemler: Dokuz sağlıklı tenisçi (5 kız, 4 erkek; ort. yaş 11.8±0.8 yıl; boy 153.6±7.2 cm; vücut kütle indeksi 42.3±4.1 kg; oyunculuk deneyimleri 6.2±1.5 yıl) çalışmaya katılmak için gönüllü oldu ve gerçek tenis maçında olduklarını varsayarak atabilecekleri kadar hızlı servis atışı yaptı. Başarılı ve başarısız servis atışları saniyede 60 resim kaydedebilen iki adet kamera ile kaydedildi ve daha sonra Pictran yazılımı ile analiz edildi. Topa vuruş öncesi, vuruş anı ve vuruş sonrasındaki eklem açıları karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: Bağımlı değişkenler t-testi ile analizi yapılan bu üç vuruş safhasında başarılı ve başarısız servisler arasında anlamlı bir fark görülmedi. Sonuç: Çalışmanın bulguları servis atışının vuruş öncesi, vuruş anı ve vuruş sonrası safhalarında başarılı ve başarısız denemeler arasında bir fark olmadığını ortaya koydu. Servis atışı sırasında olası eklemsel değişikliklerin ortaya çıkartılması amacıyla daha detaylı incelemelerin yapılması gerekmektedir.

Cadastral mapping technicians play an important role in all the studies conducted in order to obtain these maps. For this reason, it is necessary for cadastral mapping technicians to renew themselves in parallel to these developments. Today, the tools used in the mapping sector are being renewed in parallel with the rapidly changing technological developments and software and hardware are also updated in accordance with this renewal. For this reason, it is necessary to review the mapping education given at vocational schools by taking the current conditions and developments into consideration.

Photogrammetry is defined as the process of measurement on an object's images taken in accordance with certain rules instead of direct measurements on the object. This term includes whole operations of taking, processing, analyzing and evaluating the image. Most important advantage of this method in medical studies is the high accuracy and cost effectiveness compared to classical methods. Thus, this study is a photogrammetric approach to medical research and applications.

Because of its indirect measurement feature, it has various application areas. Widespread use of photogrammetry increases the importance of calibration of cameras in the frame of photogrammetric principles. In this study, images of test fields shot by Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera were analyzed using Bundle adjustment method while images of test fields obtained from portable roentgen device were analyzed using Direct linear transformation (DLT) method and all the results obtained from different methods were compared.

Diz ve dirsek kinematiği tanımının elde edilebilmesi için, farklı takımlardan 4 sağ sopa Türk buz hokeyi oyuncusu bu çalışmaya gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Yükleme, temas ve takip evreleri 2 adet DragonFly ExpressTM dijital video kamera ile çekilmiştir. Değerlendirme fotogrametrik bir yazılım olan Pictran 2.9 yazılımı ile yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, dirsek açısı için önceki çalışmalarla tutarlılık gösterirken, diz eklem açısı için genel bir strateji elde edilememiştir.

Due to high cost of the laser scanner, an alternative technique is developed. Reflectorless Robotic Total Station is a motor driven total station which capable of reflectorless measurement. It can be handled via hand computer. Additionally, it can be used image taken with different cameras. So, we can select for scanning area on image. Both image point and ground point can be measured. The transformation is realized between image coordinates and ground coordinate system. The selected area on image is scanned by requested interval and the point cloud of object is obtained. Bu yöntemler sayesinde düzensiz kemik yüzeylerinin fotogrametrik analizleri yapılabilir hale gelmiştir. Vücutta kullanılan tıbbi materyallerin rijiditesi ve tespit materyallerinin yeterli tespit yapıp yapmadığı yine fotogrametrik analiz yöntemiyle araştırılabilir hale gelmiştir. Bu amaçla in vitro (cansız) deneysel çalışmayla geliştirilen bir protez modelinde, mikro hareketin stereofotogrametrik yöntemle en minimal değerinde nasıl ölçülebileceği araştırılmıştır. Terrestrial laser scanning is the latest method to 3D surveying and modeling. All geometric information belonging to the object or scene can be extracted from terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) data. The aim of this work is measurement of wall thickness of a building, which was built to protect the Alaaddin Palace, creating of cross-section by laser scanning data. We surveyed the building by TLS and performed 3D model. Then cross-sections were created from point clouds to measurement wall thickness of concrete building.

Bu araştırma 9 kemancı üzerinde yapılmıştır. Fotogrametrik değerlendirmede Pictran yazılımı kullanılmıştır. Keman çalmada aktif olarak kullanılan sağ üst ekstremiteye ait el bileği ve dirsek eklemleri, kalibre edilmiş bir test alanı üzerinde metrik olmayan kameralarla görüntülenerek bilgisayar ortamına aktarılmıştır. The objective of this study was to measure the angular changes in the wrist and elbow joints, as well as the vertical inclinations of the arm, forearm, and hand, which are active in basic bow drives in violin playing, by using digital photogrammetric methods. In this way, we could determine the angular changes of the joints during bow drives, allowing us to incorporate this information into teaching proper bow techniques as well as preventing possible problems due to excessive force. The aim of this study was to investigate the joint angle differences in successful and unsuccessf... more The aim of this study was to investigate the joint angle differences in successful and unsuccessful tennis serves of junior tennis players. Nine healthy junior tennis players (5 girls, 4 boys; mean age 11.8+/-0.8 years; height 153.6+/-7.2 cm; body mass index 42.3+/-4.1 kg; playing experience 6.2+/-1.5 years) volunteered to participate in this study. They were asked to perform tennis serves as fast as they can as if they were in an actual game. Successful and unsuccessful serves were recorded using two high speed cameras and then analyzed using Pictran software. Angle changes in pre-impact, impact and post-impact phases were compared. The results of paired sample t-tests revealed nosignificant differences between successful and unsuccessful tennis serves in all three phases. This study failed to show differences between successful and unsuccessful tennis serves in pre-impact, impact and post-impact phases. Fatigue is an indispensible part of a basketball game which may affect an athlete's shooting kine... more Fatigue is an indispensible part of a basketball game which may affect an athlete's shooting kinematics. Although kinematic analyses of various sports related movements were extensively done, this study is the first to consider the effects of fatigue on the kinematics of free throw shooting. After measuring the resting heart rate, ten collegiate level, male basketball players (21.8±1.6 y; 192.8±3.6 cm; 84.1±8.5 kg) were asked to perform free throws. Two successful and two unsuccessful free throws were selected. Thereafter, participants were asked to complete the fatigue protocol, which included 30m sprints and 5 vertical jumps at each end, until they reached volitional exhaustion. Additional two successful and two unsuccessful free throws were collected. All shots were recorded by using two digital cameras operating at 60 Hz and placed in a stereoscopic view. The elbow, trunk, knee and ankle joint angles were measured before and after the ball release and at the ball release point. The selected joint angles were compared between successful and unsuccessful free throws, as well as before and after the completion of fatigue protocol. The results demonstrated that fatigue did not effect free throw shooting kinematics (p>0.05) and there was no significant joint angle difference between successful and unsuccessful shots (p>0.05). This study suggested that high level athletes are able to cope with the possible detrimental effects of fatigue while performing coordinated movements such as free throw shooting.

Servis atışı sırasında olası eklemsel değişikliklerin ortaya çıkartılması amacıyla daha detaylı incelemelerin yapılması gerekmektedir.

Bu yöntemler sayesinde düzensiz kemik yüzeylerinin fotogrametrik analizleri yapılabilir hale gelmiştir. Vücutta kullanılan tıbbi materyallerin rijiditesi ve tespit materyallerinin yeterli tespit yapıp yapmadığı yine fotogrametrik analiz yöntemiyle araştırılabilir hale gelmiştir. Bu amaçla in vitro (cansız) deneysel çalışmayla geliştirilen bir protez modelinde, mikro hareketin stereofotogrametrik yöntemle en minimal değerinde nasıl ölçülebileceği araştırılmıştır. Terrestrial laser scanning is the latest method to 3D surveying and modeling. All geometric information belonging to the object or scene can be extracted from terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) data. The aim of this work is measurement of wall thickness of a building, which was built to protect the Alaaddin Palace, creating of cross-section by laser scanning data. We surveyed the building by TLS and performed 3D model. Then cross-sections were created from point clouds to measurement wall thickness of concrete building.

The objective of this study was to measure the angular changes in the wrist and elbow joints, as well as the vertical inclinations of the arm, forearm, and hand, which are active in basic bow drives in violin playing, by using digital photogrammetric methods. In this way, we could determine the angular changes of the joints during bow drives, allowing us to incorporate this information into teaching proper bow techniques as well as preventing possible problems due to excessive force. Nine healthy junior tennis players (5 girls, 4 boys; mean age 11.8+/-0.8 years; height 153.6+/-7.2 cm; body mass index 42.3+/-4.1 kg; playing experience 6.2+/-1.5 years) volunteered to participate in this study. They were asked to perform tennis serves as fast as they can as if they were in an actual game. Successful and unsuccessful serves were recorded using two high speed cameras and then analyzed using Pictran software. Angle changes in pre-impact, impact and post-impact phases were compared. The results of paired sample t-tests revealed nosignificant differences between successful and unsuccessful tennis serves in all three phases. This study failed to show differences between successful and unsuccessful tennis serves in pre-impact, impact and post-impact phases. Fatigue is an indispensible part of a basketball game which may affect an athlete's shooting kine... more Fatigue is an indispensible part of a basketball game which may affect an athlete's shooting kinematics. Although kinematic analyses of various sports related movements were extensively done, this study is the first to consider the effects of fatigue on the kinematics of free throw shooting. After measuring the resting heart rate, ten collegiate level, male basketball players (21.8±1.6 y; 192.8±3.6 cm; 84.1±8.5 kg) were asked to perform free throws. Two successful and two unsuccessful free throws were selected. Thereafter, participants were asked to complete the fatigue protocol, which included 30m sprints and 5 vertical jumps at each end, until they reached volitional exhaustion. Additional two successful and two unsuccessful free throws were collected. All shots were recorded by using two digital cameras operating at 60 Hz and placed in a stereoscopic view. The elbow, trunk, knee and ankle joint angles were measured before and after the ball release and at the ball release point. The selected joint angles were compared between successful and unsuccessful free throws, as well as before and after the completion of fatigue protocol. The results demonstrated that fatigue did not effect free throw shooting kinematics (p>0.05) and there was no significant joint angle difference between successful and unsuccessful shots (p>0.05). This study suggested that high level athletes are able to cope with the possible detrimental effects of fatigue while performing coordinated movements such as free throw shooting.
