This enables high-spectral efficiency OFDM systems to be implemented optically, potentially overcoming limitations in electronic processing.

The dream of ultra compact devices operating at very low power and integrable on a chip is entering the realm of reality thanks to the advent of photonic crystal, enabling high Q/V ratio. The rugged step-index geometry allows for long-term operation, while the spectral bandwidth is limited by the transmission of the As2S3 fiber.

Particular interest has focused on understanding the SC noise properties, as the SC amplitude and phase stability are key factors in assessing potential applications. Specifically, several studies of the various mechanisms by which input pulse noise is transferred to the output SC spectrum have been performed over a wide parameter range, from the femtosecond to the continuous wave regime. In this regard, crucial insight into ...

Particular interest has focused on understanding the SC noise properties, as the SC amplitude and phase stability are key factors in assessing potential applications. In this context, significant experiments have recently been reported by Solli et al. where a photonic time stretching detection technique was used to characterize the shot-to-shot statistics of a SC generated with picosecond pulses in the anomalous dispersion regime. These results ...

We demonstrate how the reversible hydroscopic behavior of the embedded liquid into the air micropores impacts the photonic crystal waveguide cut-off frequency.

Phys. Lett. 81, 2325 (2002)], which characterize the potential dispersive power of a superprism. We find closed form expressions for these quantities that greatly simplify their accurate evaluation and reveal significant insights about their behavior. The expressions imply general properties of the parameters which are true for all bands and all photonic crystals. In particular, we demonstrate that all photonic crystals exhibit infinite resolution as measured by the parameter r along particular contours in any photonic band.
