A field experiment was conducted under on-going Long-Term Fertilizer Experiment during 2020 and 2... more A field experiment was conducted under on-going Long-Term Fertilizer Experiment during 2020 and 2021 at the Research farm, College of Agriculture, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, to study the influence of long-term application of fertilizers and manure on growth, yield attributes and yield of soybean. There were eight treatments comprised of T1 (50% NPK), T2 (100% NPK), T3 (150% NPK), T4 (100% NP), T5 (100% N), T6 (100% NPK + FYM), T7 (100% NPK - S) and T8 (control). The treatments were replicated four times in a randomized block design. The soybean (RVS 2001-4) was grown with recommended dose of 20:80:20 (100% N:P2O5:K2O kg ha-1) in kharif season. The application of 50% NPK, 100% NPK and 150% NPK significantly increased the plant height, pod length, number of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, test weight (100 seeds), seed and stover yield of soybean over control. Eight treatments comprised of T1 (50% NPK), T2 (100% NPK), T3 (150% NPK), T4 (100% NP), T5 (100% N), T6 (100% NPK + FYM), T7 (100% NPK - S) and T8 (Control) were replicated four times in a randomized block design. A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Scienc... more A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal (India) to study influence of different integrated nutrient management (INM) modules on soil potassium (K) fractions. The experiment comprised with twelve treatments laid out in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications under maize-chickpea cropping sequence. The treatments included general recommended dose (GRD), soil test crop response (STCR) dose; combinations of inorganic and organic inputs and only organic modules. The soil samples were collected at crop harvest and analyzed for various K fractions viz., water soluble-K, available-K, exchangeable-K, HNO3-K, lattice-K and total-K. The results indicated that potassium fractions were significantly (p = 0.05) affected by different treatments. Different INM modules significantly enhanced significantly K availability in soil. Adoption of conservation agriculture (CA) is very slow due to weed infestations. The application ... more Adoption of conservation agriculture (CA) is very slow due to weed infestations. The application of herbicides is the only viable option to deal with problem of weed management to adhere with basic principles of CA. A field experiment was carried out for three years to evaluate the expediency of different herbicides and their sequential applications under CA. In this study, seven treatments comprised of either alone or sequential application of pre-emergence (PE) and post-emergence (PoE) herbicides, hand weeding and weedy check were tested in soybean. Result indicated that sequential application of glyphosate at 1 kg ai ha-1 + pendimethalin at 1 kg ai ha-1as PE followed by PoE application of imazethapyr at 100 g ai ha-1 at 30 days after sowing (DAS) proved to be the best economical option in terms of plant growth parameters, crop biomass, seed yield, weed index and carbon and nutrient recycling. A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, B... more A field experiment was conducted at the Research Farm of ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, India to study the effect of different combinations of organic inputs on performance of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. Soybean (cv. JS 335) was grown in a randomized block design with seven treatments and four replications. The treatments studied were organic manure (OM) (T1); biodynamic preparation (BD) (T2); OM+panchagavya (OM+PG) (T3); OM+BD (T4); OM+PG+BD (T5); control (T6); and recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) (T7). The results of the study revealed that, the treatments with organic manures either alone or in combination with panchagavya and/or biodynamic application improved the performance of soybean crop. The yield of soybean was found comparable and even better (higher 5–13%) with those obtained under RDF, which enhanced nutrient removal by soybean crop by 5–13% with organic combinations.
