This algorithm is developed with an aim of increasing the power transfer capability between the source side and load side and it offers several benefits like the enhanced predicting capability, degradation in complexity as well as the randomization and so forth. In this work, photovoltaic (PV) system, Wind Generating System (WGS), Fuel Cell (FC), Ultra Capacitor (UC) and the battery are considered as the energy sources. The ANFIS technique is trained with the inputs such as the previous instant energy of the available sources and the required load demand of the current time and the corresponding target reference power of the sources. According to the load variation, the proposed method makes the appropriate control signals at the testing time to manage the energy of the HRES. A STATCOM based voltage regulati...

In the recent past renewable energy sources are considered as alternative for the fossil fuel energy sources. Photovoltaic and Wind are the more promising renewable energy sources and are widely used in many countries for standalone applications or connected to Utility Grid. The unpredictable pattern of natural resources requires combined utilization of these sources for providing uninterrupted and reliable power supply to the consumers. A MATLAB/SIMULINK model for 10 kW Solar PV system has been developed and its characteristics are presented. The characteristics of Wind turbine is also simulated and results are presented. Further this paper presents the review of current state of control strategies for hybrid energy system in standalone mode and grid connected mode. Also the future developments of such system and their recognition by the industrial and home users are discussed.

HOMER software is used for simulation of the complete system. The solar radiation data and wind speed data used in this paper are for the place of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India which is located 11.0183° N longitude and 76.9725° E latitude. The optimized sizes of components of Hybrid Power System (HPS) are found based on Levelised Cost of Energy (LCE) and total Net Present Cost (NPC). The results are presented and compared for five different combinations of HPS components. Suggestions are also presented to choose the low cost system which produces energy at low LCE.
