The study was retrospective (7 years and 11 months) and included all patients operated for valve diseases associated with functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR). The Epi Info software was used for descriptive analysis and logistic regression. There was a total of 58 patients with an average age of 26 years. In preoperative transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), 44.6% of patients had stage III TR. After De Vega plasty, the immediate postoperative TTE showed no tricuspid leak in 23.5% of patients, a minimal leak in 62% of patients and a moderate leak in 14.5% of patients. After a 41-month follow-up, 25% of living patients had no more TR and 30.56% had minimal insufficiency. Moderate insufficiency persisted in 30.56% of cases, and severe in 13.89% of cases. All patients with severe long-term TR had hemodynamic instability during reanimation (p = 0.002). De Vega plasty is a low-cost technique that does no...

The specific objective was to assess morbidity and mortality over the same period after heart surgery in children. Our study focuses on 84 children with congenital or acquired heart disease. This is a retrospective single-center study that took place over a period of 9 months in 2017. An Excel sheet has been prepared to collect antecedents, clinical signs, paraclinical signs, as well as the operative protocol and the postoperative follow-up of the patients. A statistical analysis of the data was performed with the Stata software and the Excel spreadsheet. We found a male predominance with a sex ratio M/F of 1.1. We found dyspnea on 89.3% children and 94% had a heart murmur. The average of left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) was 66%. Congenital heart disease (58.3%) is represented by cyanogenic heart disease (15.5%), lef...

It’s a cause of a heavy morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study is to evaluate the morbidity and mortality of valve surgery in young adults. It was a retrospective and monocentric study over 2 years. We had evaluated 69 patients with an average age of 32 years [16-63years]. Epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, interventional and post interventional data were collected from archived patient records. The processing of this data was treated by SPSS v 16 and Excel software. Stage III dyspnea was the main symptom. Risk factors for postoperative mortality were cardiac insufficiency (p=0.006) and aortic valve position (p=0.009). Postoperative complications were dominated by hemodynamic instability (23%), pulmonary complications (20%) and infectious complications (3%). Postoperative mortality was 5.8%. Our late mortality was 2.9%.Two cases of minor accidents to anticoagulation dru...

The aim of this study is to present a case of massive calcified pericardium and to describe the difficult of surgery. Method A 30–year-old woman was admitted in cardiovascular hospital after 7 years of dyspnea, weakness, fatigue, ascites and palpitation. She had been diagnosed with on tuberculosis 8 years before and had complied with anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy. Treatment consists of 4 drugs therapy (rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol) for 2 months followed by 2 drugs (rifampicin, isoniazid) for 4 months with adjuvant treatment including vitamin B. Clinical examination showed symptoms of right heart congestion including congestive liver; ascites dilated jugular vein and leg edema. Chest radiography showed massive pericardial calcific deposits encircling the left and the right ventricle. Two dimension...

Pulmonary artery injury has been suspected because early chest tube production was 2300 mL of blood. CT scan showed injury of the trunk of the pulmonary artery, left hemothorax, and suspect damage of the right branch of the pulmonary artery. That chest tube touched the posterior wall of ascending aorta. Surgical approach was median sternotomy. Exploration showed a perforation of the trunk of pulmonary artery without lesion of the right pulmonary branch and the posterior wall of the ascending aorta. The lesion was repaired under normothermic partial cardiopulmonary bypass. Postoperative period was free of events. Review of the literatures for this rare case report has been done.

It represents for 8-20% of all obstacles to left ventricular ejection. Material And Methods: This is a retrospective and descriptive study of patients with aortic stenosis under aortic diaphragmatic surgery operated over an 11-year period (January 2004-December 2015). Our study included 20 patients, 13 of which were male. The sex ratio was 1.85. The average age of patients was 16.6 years [4-51 years]. Stage 2 dyspnea (NYHA) was the primary reason for consultation (17 patients). The heartbeat was regular sinus rhythm in 17 patients. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) found left ventricular hypertrophy in 19 patients. The average trans-aortic gradient was 55.68mmHg [24 - 92.5 mmHg]. Aortic insufficiency (IA) was found in 14 patients. An associated congenital heart...
