Spontaneous (nontraumatic) subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is an acute and potentially life- threatening condition. There are many conditions and diseases that have been able to bring about SAH but aneurysms play a dominant role. In some percent the cause of SAH still remains undefined . Population based incidence rates vary from 6.5 to 23.9 per 100.000 for all age groups. Many factors have been accepted as risk factors. The amount of extravasated blood correlates well with brain damage and hemodynamic disturbances. Diagnosis must be fast, reliable and the CT is the best method in establishing the diagnosis of intracranial bleeding. The treatment should start as early as possible. The final outcome remains poor for many patients with overall mortality of 25% and many of them will expire due to the initial bleeding. Key words: Subarachnoid hemorrhage, aneurysms, intracranial bleeding

CT diagnostics is the most frequently used method of the brain tumor visualization in Serbia, due to height reliability, short time of the exposition, lower costs, and wide using even in smaller health centers, comparing to competitive methods. In our study, we examined 63 patients of different sex and age, which have been operated for a brain tumor at the Neurosurgery Clinic in Nis. Brain astrocytoma has been found in all patients after pathohistological evaluation of the operatively resected material. All patients had maximal reduction of the tumor bulk and postoperatively were treated according to current oncological protocols. The preoperative CT parameter-tumor size was correlated to survival. The most often tumor bulk was presented as medium-sized, average diamet...

Each grade of this kind of tumors has unique initial mechanisms of developing, biological behavior and variable response to undertaken surgical and oncological treatment. Tumor grade is, probably, the most important survival factor in patients operated from the brain astrocytoma. In our study, he have examined 63 pathohistological samples obtained from patients, of both sexes operated at Neurosurgical Clinic in Nis, from the beginning of 2000. until the end of 2001. Health condition of the patients has been observed until March 2003. We have compared survival of two groups of the astrocytoma operated patients: first-with high grade (WHO gr. III and IV) and the second with low grade astrocytomas (WHO gr. II and I). There were 49 high grade and 14 low grade astrocytomas. Average survival was 43 weeks and 209 weeks, respectively. We have found high statistical significance ...

CT diagnostics is the most frequently used method of the brain tumor visualization in Serbia, due to height reliability, short time of the exposition, lower costs, and wide using even in smaller health centers, compared to concurrent methods. In our study we examined 63 adult patients, which have been operated for a brain tumor at the Clinic of Neurosurgery in Nis. In all of the cases tumors were supratentorial, without cysts and complete resection was confirmed after control CT scan has been done. In all of the patents, pathohistological analysis of the tumor specimen revealed astrocytoma. The features of astrocytoma grade IV are: hypercellularity, pleomorphism, endovascular proliferation and necrosis were dominant. All patients had maximal reduction of the tumo...
