The antenna is fed with coupled transverse slots on a plate laminated waveguide cavity to ensure wide bandwidth and simplicity of feeding network. The two-layer structure has one layer dedicated for feeding network and the other layer dedicated for radiating elements. A good return loss and standing wave ratio of 2:1 has been achieved while maintaining properties of typical PIFA.

This work is carried out with the goal of simulating and fabricating the microwave absorber using conventional and newest material such as polyurethane to save the budget cost with security and reliability. The simulation of absorber is performed via Computer Simulation Technology (CST) for the microwave frequencies 1 GHz to 20 GHz. The outcomes of simulation proved good absorbing efficiency and better RCS reduction compared to traditional microwave absorber. The reflection level is less than -30 to -10 dB over the desired frequency range of 1 GHz ~ 20 GHz.

The proposed antenna structure consists of an aperture tapered profile and cavity stub fed with a simple 50 Ω strip line feeding network. The designed PVA offers versatile advantages, including the miniaturized size and simple design, and exhibited an outstanding performance compared to the latest reported literature. The antenna occupies a minimal space with an electrical size of 0.92λ0 × 0.64λ0 × 0.03λ0. The antenna achieves an excellent relative impedance bandwidth 117.25% at 10 dB return loss, peak realized gain of 10.9 dBi, and an excellent radiation efficiency of 95% at the specific resonances. The antenna’s optimal features, that is, broadband, high gain, and radiation efficiency, are achieved with efficient grooves based approach. Besides, the proposed antenna results are also analyzed in the time domain, which shows the excellent group delay performance <2 ns in the operational band. The proposed...

The purpose of this research is to discover new ways of communication by developing a polarization agile antenna, integrated feeding structure that can generate two equal-amplitude signals with fast phase switching between 90 • and 270 • , realizing the agility control for the dual circular polarization of the square patch antenna. Compared with the traditional polarization-agile antennas with the individual power divider and phase shifter networks, the proposed design has the advantages of good amplitude, phase and polarization imbalance performances, a simple control circuit, low insertion loss, and compact design which proves it to be best underwater communication.

The procedure to design the unit element antenna is followed by applying a linear tapered array-slot structure to the conventional Vivaldi antenna; hence the bandwidth, gain and radiation efficiency of the antenna are improved. The proposed antenna array is designed on the low-cost FR4 epoxy substrate material with value of dielectric constant r = 4.4 , and loss tangent = 0.02. The reduction of the feed line width and location adjustment is used to expand the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna. Moreover, the single antenna element is expanded to 1 × 2 , 1 × 4 and 2 × 4 to form an antenna array respectively. The dimensions of the developed array antenna are satisfying the proper impedance matching. The simulated reflection coefficient results confirm that the proposed antenna array achieves an impedance bandwidth of above 55% obtained at 10 dB return loss, the peak realized gain of 10.75 dBi and radiation efficiency of more than 90%. The measured results show a good agreement and hence making the designed antenna array appropriate to work in the underwater communication band.

Wideband coupling between two layers ensures the wide bandwidth. PIN diodes are used to achieve electronic control of phase shifter. An equivalent circuit model for this device is developed and explained. A compact and low loss five-level digital phase shifter using the proposed structure is designed, fabricated and measured. The simulated results excellently agree with measured results. Including the microstrip-to-SIW transitions, the measured insertion loss is dB over desired frequency band, with an amplitude and phase imbalance of dB , respectively. Return loss performance of better than 15 dB is observed from 10 to 14 GHz, providing a wide relative bandwidth of around 33%. Measured results validate better performance compared to its SIW counterparts.

We have considered the case study of Pakistan, which defines fog events at different visibilities among four major cities, i.e. Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Sukkur. The FSO links are simulated using Opti-system 7.0 software and the link performance is analyzed by means of quality of received signal (Q-factor) at receiver. We have considered the visibility ranges which are most likely to occur in Pakistan and also consider different fog attenuation models like Kruse, Kim, Al-Naboulsi (Advection and Radiation) to calculate the fog attenuation at different visibility ranges.

By using IPS-PD, two equal-amplitude signals with +90°/-90° switched phase shift at two output ports can be achieved, which can be used to realize a dual-circular polarized polarization-agile antenna. Compared with traditional polarization-agile antenna which use discrete power divider and phase shifter, the new polarization-agile antenna has the advantage of high polarization purity and simple control circuit, etc.

A PIN diode is mounted on each transverse slot. Slots are made “enabled” or “disabled” by switching the state of PIN diode. A detailed explanation and demonstration is presented in this paper. As a result, a digital four bit phase shifter can be realized. Furthermore, equivalent circuit model for proposed device has also been discussed. Insertion loss is as low as 1.5 dB for a wide bandwidth of 31% (6.75–9.25 GHz), with a phase imbalance of ±4° and amplitude imbalance of ±0.5 dB. Simulation results agree well with the measured results.

Firstly, a microstrip Yagi antenna with low profile and small size is proposed and discussed. Secondly, a cylindrical conformal Yagi antenna array consisting of 24 aforementioned 8element Yagi antennas is designed and optimized. Simulation results show that the Yagi antenna array can realize low-elevation beam scanning in the region of °≤ ≤°,°≤ ≤° with low sidelobe levels (SLL) and sharp beams. Thirdly, a cylindrical and a conical conformal microstrip antenna (MSA) arrays are developed to realize the broadside beam scanning. Afterwards, an integrated PAA by combining the aforementioned conformal arrays along with feeding networks is constructed to achieve full solid angle scanning. Finally, a prototype is fabricated, the measured results show that it can realize beam scanning in the regions of °≤ ≤°,°≤ ≤° and °≤ ≤°,°≤ ≤°, which meet well with those of the simulated. By arranging proper number of arrays along the perimeter accompanied with the switchable feeding configurations, a full solid angle scanning can be achieved. Index Terms-cylindrical-and-conical phased array antenna, full solid angle scanning, Yagi antenna, cylindrical conformal Yagi antenna array, projection method, cylindrical and conical conformal microstrip antenna array.
