It is a versatile and reliable option for head and neck reconstruction, particularly in oral cavity defects. This flap is employed in the reconstruction of the floor of the mouth, alveolar cleft surgery, and tongue defect repair. Previous studies have discussed the use of FAMM flaps for facial reconstructions. However, there are no current and updated comprehensive reviews discussing the use of FAMM flaps in facial reconstruction. In light of this, this study aimed to review all relevant studies that discuss the use of FAMM flaps in facial reconstruction.

ChatGPT can assist in finding academic papers on the web and summarizing them. This chatbot has the potential to be applied in scientific writing, it has the ability to generate automated drafts, summarize articles, and translate content from several languages. This in turn can make academic writing faster and less challenging. However, due to ethical considerations, its use in scientific writing should be regulated and carefully monitored. Few papers have discussed the use of ChatGPT in scientific research writing. This review aims to discuss all the relevant published papers that discuss the use of ChatGPT in medical and dental research.

Implant application has increased significantly in modern dentistry. The anatomy, medical condition, practitioner knowledge, and surgical technique are key factors that eventually affect the overall outcome of dental implants. For a better treatment outcome for dental implants, adequate multidisciplinary communication, cooperation, and support must be achieved while considering the periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery specialties. Objective This study aims to compare the knowledge and skills regarding up-to-date implant techniques among prosthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Materials and methods The data were collected from prosthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from April 2022 to August 2022. The targeted subjects were residents, specialists, and consultants working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Results A total of 181 dentists were surveyed in the current study. A significantly higher proportion of oral surgeons have perceived that the BTI brand (BTI Biotechnology Institute, Álava, Spain) had a high load torque before screw fracture (p = 0.025). Periodontists had significantly higher knowledge levels related to the technique with the lowest marginal bone loss (p = 0.003). Knowledge levels were significantly higher among prosthodontists for the items related to the fact that both early and late implant placement following alveolar ridge placement would have the least changes in periodontal parameters (p = 0.013). Conclusion All the targeted specialties exhibited a comparable impression regarding implant techniques and their outcomes. Each specialty had its own aspect of treatment during the placement of dental implants depending on multiple factors. Significant knowledge was observed from each specialty regarding implant brands, techniques, and antibiotic prescriptions for dental implants.

It is one of the most common consumed psychoactive substances in the world. Sometimes patients report failing of feeling numbness after local anesthesia administration due to excessive consumption of coffee, thus, they request a higher dose of local anesthesia during treatment. To this day, no previous study reported a direct association between caffeine intake and local anesthesia failure. Aim: This study aims to review published articles that discussed the effect of caffeine administration and consumption on anesthetic efficacy. Materials and Methods: A literature search was performed from multiple databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, and Google Scholar. The most eligible articles were included using specific keywords. The literature search was limited to full-text English articles, which were screened for eligibility by two reviewe...

Like other coronaviruses it was transmitted to humans by animals, which is said to be an outbreak from a fish market in Wuhan (China) in December 2019. World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that COVID-19 is a pandemic on March 11, 2020 [2]. For the management of spreading of this disease, some countries forced a complete lockdown. Social distancing, hand hygiene, and isolation were considered largely effective for COVID-19 control [2]. Many medications have been reported for the treatment of Covid-19 disease. One of these medications is hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine which has gained a lot of popularity during the pandemic. This study aims to review the effect of HCQ and CQ on cardiovascular patients with COVID-19 and estimate the potential adverse effects.

Despite its wide range of indications, autotransplantation is dependent upon careful patient selection and a suitable technique to ensure successful results both functionally and aesthetically. It is possible to restore physiological occlusion, aesthetics, and masticatory function by varying implant length, diameter, surface, and design, along with autogenous, alogenous, alloplastic, or xenogenous bone substitutes. However, none of the technologies that are used in implant dentistry today can adapt to a child's growing jaw during adolescence. Thus, the young age of the patient restricts implants and creates a challenge for dentists wishing to replace missing teeth. Therefore, tooth autotransplantation can be a good option for treatment. Our objective in this review is to highlight the biological principles required for the successful autotransplantation of teeth. Limits, indications, and prognoses will be analyzed. Hopefully, with increased awareness and acceptance in the dental profession, autotransplantation will become another viable treatment option for those with compromised teeth who still have significant growth potential.

Studies have shown a posterior positioning of the hyoid bone and tongue position after mandibular setback surgery, this in turn can have a negative influence on the upper airway space that could lead to breathing problems such as obstructive sleep apnea. Mandibular setback surgery is commonly used for functional and aesthetic correction in mandibular prognathism patients. There are still some controversial opinions regarding the effect of mandibular setback surgery on the pharyngeal airway space and oxygen saturation. This study aims to review and illustrate the changes in pharyngeal airway space and oxygen saturation following mandibular setback surgery.

However, it is more common after the extraction of the maxillary posterior teeth which have their root tips close or attached to the maxillary sinus. Spontaneous healing is usually seen in OAC with less than 2mm in diameter. In this review, we will illustrate the appropriate diagnosis of the OAC and discuss all the surgical options for the closure of the OAC including the local flaps with the advantages and disadvantages of each technique.
