Yet little is known about promising benefits of the use of Digital Storytelling (DST) with young learners in an Argentinian emergency remote scenario. To determine DST usefulness to develop writing in this specific context, seven young students of a school of English in Buenos Aires,
Argentina, listened to a story and then wrote two different stories in Google docs. The objective was to analyse the benefits of DST app Toontastic 3D in their process of writing, techniques to foster creativity (Harmer & Puchta, 2018) in both stories and students’ attitude towards writing, which was measured through questionnaires at the beginning and ending of the study. The results offered clear evidence that DST promotes language and vocabulary development, students’ engagement and empowerment and fosters creativity in writing.
Educators can find recommendations and suggestions for further research.
Keywords: Digital Storytelling, writing, kids, EFL, emergency remote learning.
