The effect of MnO 2 doping on the structure, microstructure and dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 ... more The effect of MnO 2 doping on the structure, microstructure and dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 has been studied. For this purpose MnO 2-doped BaTiO 3 ceramics have been prepared using a conventional ceramic method. The energydispersive X-ray spectroscopy investigations have revealed that the samples Ba-TiO 3 + x wt. % MnO 2 (x = 0.01; 0.1) are perfectly sintered. Our studies have shown that all the electric parameters under investigation depend on the frequency of electric field and the amount of manganese substitution. In order to understand better the character of phase transition in BaTiO 3 + x wt. % MnO 2 (x = 0.01; 0.1), we have also studied the thermal behaviour of these compounds.

Applying uniaxial pressure leads to a reduction of the peak intensity of the electric permittivity (ε) of the polarization as well as of the dielectric hysteresis. The peak intensity of ε becomes diffused and shifts to a higher temperatures with increasing the pressure. The electrostrictive coefficient Q 11 and differential permittivity were evaluated from the obtained data. We interpreted our results based on the hardening of the soft-mode and domain switching processes under the action of pressure. The aging effect followed a logarithmic law and is related to the relaxation of the domain structure toward an equilibrium configuration. The aging rate was found to decrease with increasing frequency as a result of the pinning of polarization components by defects field.

ABSTRACT Lead-free ceramics of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3–Ba(Ti,Zr)O3 (NBT–BTZ) were prepared by solid phase ... more ABSTRACT Lead-free ceramics of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3–Ba(Ti,Zr)O3 (NBT–BTZ) were prepared by solid phase hot pressing sintering process. The obtained samples show perovskite structure. Structural, the heat capacity, thermal expansion and pyroelectric measurements were made in wide temperature range. The broad anomalies of heat capacity and thermal expansion were observed, which approximately correspond to structural, pyroelectric and dielectric properties. It was concluded that these anomalies can be connected with temperature features of polar regions and with formation of long-range ferroelectric state. The obtained results are discussed in the framework of foreign ions/lattice imperfections, which create local electric and elastic fields. The NBT–BTZ system is expected to be a new promising candidate for lead-free electronic ceramics.

Dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 (BT), BaTiO 3 +0.1wt.%MnO 2 (BTMn) and BaTiO 3 +0.1 wt.%Fe 2 O 3... more Dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 (BT), BaTiO 3 +0.1wt.%MnO 2 (BTMn) and BaTiO 3 +0.1 wt.%Fe 2 O 3 (BTFe) solid solution was investigated. The effects of substitution on the microstructure and on the electric properties of BaTiO 3 samples were studied by performing X-ray diffraction and electric measurements. X-ray diffraction analysis of the samples shows the formation of single-phase compound with a tetragonal structure at room temperature. SEM microphotographs exhibit the uniform distribution of grains. The electric properties (a real part of electrical permittivity(ε') and an imaginary part of electric modulus (M")) were investigated in the temperature range from 150K to 600K and in the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 10 MHz. It was found that a Fe and Mn ions-doping influence the electric properties of the investigated polycrystalline materials.
