Effective employees training practices are essential for successful firms performance, as they he... more Effective employees training practices are essential for successful firms performance, as they help organizations identify gaps and implement strategies to mitigate them. This study aims to assess the impact of training on employees performance in construction firms in FCT, Abuja Nigeria. The Nigerian construction industry is characterized by high levels of reduced worker efficiency and productivity, increased workplace accidents and safety concerns, poor quality workmanship, inefficient resource utilization, difficulty in meeting regulatory compliance, limited Innovation and adaptation, economic impact on the construction industry, among others, making it crucial for organizations to adopt employees training practices to ensure increased productivity on firms performance. This study made use of google form questionnaires as the primary method of data collection. Microsoft Excel and SPSS was employed in analysing the data collected in order to assess level of adoption of the various training methods, examine the effectiveness of the various training methods, assess the factors influencing the adoption of the training methods, determine the performance of the firms and to establish the relationship between training and performance of firms in FCT, Abuja. This research draws existing literature on training and performance, as well as surveys with project managers and other stakeholders. The findings of this study showed that the three most adopted employees training by construction firms in FCT, Abuja are Equipment specific training, Safety training and Hand-on workshops while the most effective are Equipment specific training, Safety training and Hands-on workshops. Project characteristics and Cultural and language factor are seen to be the major factors influencing training methods. Also, a correlational value of 0.843 at 0.001 significance level was realised for the relationship between level of adoption and effectiveness of training methods and critical success factors for firms performance showing a strong relationship between them. Employees training is essential for construction firms to control the negative effect of lack of training faced by construction firms therefore it is suggested that Project characteristics should be considered a critical factor in determining training type to be adopted more to ensure a well appreciated firms performance.
