The vast majority of this type of tumor is benign. That pathology can be diagnosed antenatally or at birth. Teratomas, especially those diagnosed in the neonatal period, occur most frequently in the sacrococcygeal region. Clinically in many cases, we can observe a large swelling (mass) in the sacrococcygeal region. In some cases, there are signs of compression following by the displacement of the rectum and pelvic organs. Alphafetoprotein is the main biological test used. In association morphologically by echography, CT-scan, MRI and others, the tumor is classified. The classification used is the topographical one of TSCs, which was proposed by Altman to the American Academy of Pediatric Surgery. The mainstay of therapy is the complete surgical removal. We present a case of a newborn (6 months), female, with teratoma sacro-coccygeal. At birth the baby was noticed to have large swelling (mass), without any sign of compression of others organs. Clinical and paraclinical signs permitted us to conclude of a SCT type II of Altman's classification. A surgery was performed with a sacral approach. Histologically, tumors were classified into good (mature) category.

We describe an adolescent girl with a twisted ovarian cyst, in whom emergent laparoscopic surgery was successful. She visited us due to severe abdominal pain. Ultrasound revealed a large cystic mass, indicative of an ovarian cyst. Laparoscopy revealed a large left ovarian cyst twisted on its axis. We punctured the cyst and detorsed it. The lessons learned here are: sudden-onset abdominal pain of adolescent associated with nausea and vomiting is strongly suggestive of a ovarian cyst torsion; ultrasound should be performed immediately, if ovarian cyst torsion is suspected, timely intervention with diagnostic laparoscopy is indicated, a minimally invasive surgical approach is recommended to preserve the adnexal structures and ovarian function.

Gastrointestinal or bladder dissemination is very rare. We report the case of a 63-year-old female with a clinical presentation of acute cholecystitis, who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in emergency. The gallbladder showed a nodule at the infundibulum, which was responsible for the gallbladder hydrops with macroscopic features of a cholangiocarcinoma. Histological examination disclosed a metastasis from a lobular breast carcinoma with positive hormone receptors, but no overexpression of the Neu oncogene. Immunohistochemistry showed positive staining for cytokeratin7 suggesting a lesion of breast origin. The absence of E-cadherin was consistent with lobular carcinoma while negative CA 19.9 excluded cholangiocarcinoma. The patient had received 15 years previously a right mastectomy with axillary dissection followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy for breast carcinoma of ductal type labeled SBR stage III, pT3N1 M0, showing hormone receptors but absent Neu oncogene. Proofreading of the mastectomy histological slide concluded that it was a lobular rather than a ductal type carcinoma, confirming the finding of a gallbladder metastasis 15 years after the mastectomy. The patient showed no local recurrence or contralateral lesions on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The bone scan showed metastases in the skull, scapula, right rib cage, thoracolumbar spine and pelvis, also confirmed by MRI. A treatment with exemestane and zoledronic acid was introduced. The follow-up at 6 months showed regression of the bone lesions and absence of parenchymal new locations.

L’evolution clinique a ete favorable. La patiente est sortie au sixieme jour post operatoire. Le suivi a un an n’a pas montre de signes cliniques de recidive. Each abstract contains a brief summary of the methods, the results and conclusions followed by a detailed critical assessment on the reliability of the study and the conclusions drawn. Health technology Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Type of intervention Treatment. Economic study type Cost-effectiveness analysis. Study population Women scheduled for abdominal hysterectomy for benign disease. If a pelvic mass was present, the maximal size allowed was 2 cm below the umbilicus. Patients were not eligible if a concomitant incontinence procedure or pelvic reconstructive procedure was planned. Setting Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Cleveland Clinic Foundation (tertiary care academic centre), USA. Dates to which data relate 1995 to 1997 effectiveness and resource use data were used. The date of the cost data was not stated. The price year was not stated. Source of effectiveness data The estimates of the effectiveness and resources used were derived from a single study. Link between effectiveness and cost data The costing was undertaken prospectively on the same patient sample as that used in the effectiveness study. Study sample Power calculations showed that 22 patients per group were necessary to detect a difference of 30 minutes or more in surgical time between the two groups with 90% power and a significance level of 0.05. An assumption was made of a standard deviation of 30 minutes for surgery time based on observations in previous studies. This sample provided a power of 85% to 90% to detect a difference of 10 days or more in the median days for return to work (assuming a standard deviation of 12 days) and power of 80% to 90% to detect only large differences (30% to 40%) between groups on binary outcomes (yes/no) such as complications.

The treatment is usually long and difficult and the success of treatment usually depends on the characteristics of the esophageal stricture. The main purpose of our study was to evaluate the diagnosis, treatment and the evolution of cases of caustic esophageal strictures in children in 3 hospitals of the city of Douala. Methods: It was a retrospective and analytic study conducted at the general hospital of Douala, Laquintie hospital of Douala and the Douala gyneco-obstetric and pediatric hospital of Douala from January, 1 st 2011 to December 31 st 2020, from which we had 31 cases of esophageal strictures post ingestion of caustic substances.

He presented to the emergency room of the rural Regional Hospital of Edéa in Cameroon with a clinical picture of acute abdomen and post-trauma hemodynamic instability. A peritoneal puncture brought back an incoagulable blood. An exploratory laparotomy revealed a large hemoperitoneum mixed with food debris. A tear of the omentum and transverse mesocolon and a complete section of the third duodenum at the beginning of its free portion were observed. The surgeon performed emergency closure of both duodenal stumps and performed an isoperistaltic lateral gastrojejunal bypass. A transfer to a specialized center for a more anatomical continuity was considered, but the imminence of a humanitarian mission in the hospital prompted the surgeon to seize the opportunity of this mission for the reoperation. This surgical revision was performed on the fifth postoperative day...

The first patient has a large pulmonary mass of the right apex revealed by scapular pain. The right upper lobectomy with free margins reveals hemangiopericytoma. The second patient develops dry cough and thoracic pain with discovery of a cavitary mass in the right pulmonary field. Fine needle aspiration cytology suggests a mesenchymatous lesion. Three months after extended pneumonectomy, the intrathoracic tumour relapses and regresses partially under chemotherapy. Femoral and brain metastases are irradiated. The patient dies 22 months after thoracotomy. Histology and immunohistochemistry ...
