La preocupación por la conservación del patrimonio arquitectónico y urbano construido en el siglo... more La preocupación por la conservación del patrimonio arquitectónico y urbano construido en el siglo XX es relativamente reciente, y presenta importantes singularidades que hacen necesarios establecer nuevos criterios válidos. La importancia y singularidad del Primer Ensanche de Teruel, incluido en la delimitación del Conjunto Histórico, declarado como Bien de Interés Cultural en 2010, hacía necesario un estudio pormenorizado que permitiera elaborar con el suficiente rigor un Plan Especial de Protección que preserve su imagen histórica. Una de las cuestiones esenciales para su correcta conservación es el conocimiento de las características constructivas de las edificaciones que lo forman, lo que ha podido realizarse gracias al estudio documental de los proyectos, y que ha revelado innovaciones en algunas de sus construcciones, pero, sobre todo, ciertas inercias en la evolución del modo de construir el “patrimonio menor”, que caracteriza el paisaje de la ciudad.

The research focuses on analysing the first plans of the City of Teruel, built in the early ninet... more The research focuses on analysing the first plans of the City of Teruel, built in the early nineteenth century, in the context of the Wars of Independence, two by the Spanish army and another by the French. These three cartographies provide complementary planimetric information on urban morphology and the surrounding landscape due to their different scales and the corresponding associated generalisation. The cartography, by its very nature and purpose, is presented as the main source of information on the evolution of the urban form and these documents compile essential data to recover the city's historical image, since they capture many elements missing today that would be difficult to convey with only the other available sources.

The divulgation of this style caused a large amount of regional variances that were translated into diverse formal and material varieties. This study will carry out an architectonic surveying and following analysis of two ribbed vaults built in Aragon, both made of reloja and aljez (brick and cast), during the 14th century, with the objective to deepen knowledge and understanding. The accuracy that requires a formal exhaustive analysis, out of simplifications, has required an appropriate surveying methodology. After the construction of the 3D models it has been possible to extract the accurate geometry of the arches that defines the vaults, to be able to proceed with the geometrical analysis. The Mayan cultural heritage finds itself seriously threatened by archaeological pillaging. Not on... more The Mayan cultural heritage finds itself seriously threatened by archaeological pillaging. Not only is there a serious loss of information that carries with the de-contextualization of the pieces plundered but also, the pillaging contributes to the acceleration of the degradation of the buildings, thereby producing structural damage that can lead to their collapse. By means of a series of scientific expeditions, the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia is graphically recording the architecture exposed to this danger in selected cities from El Petén area. This investigation has made it possible to verify the damage that the pillaging means to the buildings affected as well as the need for cooperation development projects that help to eliminate the plundering and promote new strategies for the sustainable use of this heritage.
