Este articulo explora la situacion, la experiencia y las politicas laborales de genero en el cont... more Este articulo explora la situacion, la experiencia y las politicas laborales de genero en el contexto de Programa de Trabajadores Agricolas Temporales Mexicanos en Canada (PTAT). Tiene como base el trabajo de campo desarrollado para mi tesis doctoral sobre los trabajadores agricolas mexicanos (TAM) empleados en Leamington, y destaca la composicion por genero que se da en la organizacion del trabajo transnacional en Canada.
Global restructuring has severely impacted the agricultural sector in Mexico, forcing rural peopl... more Global restructuring has severely impacted the agricultural sector in Mexico, forcing rural peoples to migrate to either the United States or Canada. The author focuses on the experiences of Mexican agricultural migrant workers in Canada that participate in a government regulated guest worker program. She claims that: gender is a fundamental category of analysis to study these issues; Mexican labour has a profound impact on in the agricultural industry in Canada; restructuring has obligated migrants to sustain a controlled and temporary labour market in Canada and that these complex processes have generated new practices of masculinity and femininity among Mexicans.
