The formation of Au NPs-rGO composites was confirmed by UV/Visible spectroscopy, DRIFT spectroscopy, TGA, XRD analysis, SAXS and HRTEM. HRTEM analysis results show that the particle size of the Au NPs formed on rGO nanosheets were in the range of 2-20 nm which is also supported by SAXS analysis results. The synthesized Au NPs-rGO composites were successfully utilized for the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes.

The significant advantages of this novel protocol are experimental simplicity, easy work-up procedure, good to excellent yields of product and more sustainable as the efficiency of the readily available catalytic material.

Biologically active 5-arylidene barbituric acid derivatives were obtained in high yields (88-96 %) in a short reaction time (2-7 min) under solvent-free condition. This method has advantages such as avoidance of the organic solvents, short reaction times and production of pure products without any by product.

Further an efficient approach has been developed for degradation of methyl blue (MB) in aqueous medium. The photodegradation of dye was monitored as a function of dye concentration, pH and catalyst amount has been determined. The reduction in the chemical oxygen demand (COD) revealed the mineralization of dye along with colour removal.

The CuS-CdS photocatalyst was characterized using IR technique. The bleaching of solochrome blue dye was carried out in presence of semiconductor CuS-CdS photocatalyst. Effects of various parameters like amount of CuS-CdS photocatalyst, pH, dye concentration etc were studied and the rate of bleaching was observed. A tentative mechanism has been proposed.

A series of substituted 2-arylbenzothiazoles have been synthesized by reaction of o-aminothiophenol and aromatic aldehydes under solvent free conditions using a grinding method at room temperature. The reaction proceeds smoothly in excellent yields (86–97 %), short reaction time (15–48 min), and with an easy work-up procedure. The reuse of catalyst and purification of products by non-chromatographic methods are some additional features of the present protocol. The calcinized eggshell is a safe, inexpensive, and a green catalyst with high catalytic efficiency obtained from renewable resources.

The absorption spectra, crystal phase, surface morphology, particle size, and surface area of CdO and modified CdO nanoparticles were studied by UV-DRS, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, PL, and BET surface area analysis. The present paper reports adsorption technique for the removal of chromium (VI) using CdO and modified CdO nanoparticles. The operating variables such as adsorbent dose, nature of adsorbent, adsorbate concentration, contact time, and pH were optimized. The technique was found to be highly useful and cost effective for removal of chromium (VI). The Langmuir and Freundlich models were evaluated using the experimental data and result showed that the Freundlich isotherm fit better than the Langmuir isotherm.

The crystalline nature and particle size of the samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The thermal stability of nanocrystals was studied by thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The morphology of prepared nanocrystals was studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the presence of Co 2+ in the sample was confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The formation of the lead sulphide and cobalt doped lead sulphide nanoparticles was analyzed using FTIR analysis. The optical absorption of the synthesized samples was studied using UV absorption spectral analysis. The photoluminescence properties were studied using PL spectral analysis. The degradation of methyl blue (MB) in aqueous medium was studied by using lead sulphide nanoparticles. The cobalt doped lead sulphide works as an efficient photocatalyst for degradation of methyl blue dye.
