It has been determined that the effect of climate change on wildlife population will accelerate the rate and process of decline of global vertebrate populations. We investigated wildlife composition, occupancy, and activity pattern along the larger climate resilient forests that serve as microrefugia for a wide range of species under the escalating climate change. We used camera trap survey covering 250 km2 of climate microrefugia in Dadeldhura hills in far western region of Nepal. We used 62 trapping locations accumulating 1800 trap nights taking 98,916 photographs in 62 days‐survey period during the summer season of 2020. We photographed 23 mammalian species with estimated species richness of 30 species (95% CI: 25–34) based on multi‐species occupancy model. We estimated overall species occupancy ψ(SE(ψ)) to be 0.87 (0.09) in climatic microrefug...

Pine resin is one of the viable NTFP in middle mountain of Nepal which is tapped from Pinus roxbhurghii tree and can be used in paints, varnishes, stimulant, anti-spasmodic, astringent, diuretic and anti-pathogenic and so on. This piece of work is an attempt to review the current status of pine resin collection enterprise in Nepalese Community Forests and its contribution to the livelihood of Community forest users in mid-hill region. Typically, existing legislations and guidelines have high potential to endure the sustainable livelihood promotion by resin tapping enterprise but the endeavors of revitalizing the financial benefit sharing and governance system is still far. The valued contribution of resin enterprise to sustainable livelihood of users is not impossible but it needs greater effort of all stakeholders. For example, p...

This simply implies higher marginal utility of income and lower willingness to pay for environmental improvements and amenities. Biodiversity has multiple benefits, but some economic obstacles like lack of appropriate market pricing, intangible nature of social benefit derived by conservation of biological resources, ownership issue, and conventional method of national income accounting, make some illusion to adopt market based biodiversity conservation approaches in developing country like Nepal. This literature review paper attempts to summarize the economic benefits of biodiversity, threats of biodiversity conservation in Nepal and some financial appraisal of biodiversity conservation of Nepal (in case of Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation & their some field offices). In Nepal, biodiversity conservation efforts have largely been centered on protection of natural resources withi...

This study uses the lens of financial maturity to look at uneven-aged silvicultural practices based on Faustmann’s model. The objective of the study was to consider existing harvesting strategies and to seek possible silvicultural changes for greater income without impairing sustained yield. With an iterative process using the stand table projection method, this study concluded that it is possible to calculate the land expectation value (LEV) of natural uneven-aged forest in central India. LEVs of each forest division were found to be negative. However, sensitivity analysis showed that profi tability status could be improved with a lower interest rate. Species composition and harvesting proportions applied differently in four forest divisions were found to affect profi tability. Local forest practitioners in the study area can apply LEV-based economic analysis before adopting thei...

It will have significant impact on natural systems so that most of the habitat of living organism is directly influenced moreover the human being (which is heterotrophic in nature) and their roles to sustain the development and earth at summary are being vulnerable. This literature review article tries to summarize some climate change scenario and its increasing impact over the livelihood assets and their direct/indirect influence to development fronts. Nepal a developing country having more than 70% of mountainous regions with agriculture based economy is more susceptible to climate change impacts. Planning of development activities remarked with increasing trend of climate change impact with pivotal theme should make the development more sustainable and long living. Existing initiatives to make adaptation options are insufficient to halt the expected danger and redesigning the module of development is urgent in Nepal. On adaptation and vulnerability, a continuing effort must take place to exchange experiences and look for emerging best practices and frameworks. The urgency of the issue requires planners, policy makers, evaluators, practitioners and researchers to become involved in designing and in empowering communities and government as well. xfdL;F u clxn] hnjfo' kl/jt{ gsf c;/ w] /} g} 5g\ / kl//xg] 5g\ eGg] s' /fsf] k| df0fx? 5g\ . h;sf pNn] Vo k| efj k| fs[ lts ;| f] t clg k| s[ ltdf /x] sf hLjhGt' x?sf] jf;:yfg / dflg; :jo+ df kg] { x' gfn] k[ YjLsf ;| f] t tyf ;fwgx?sf] lbuf] pkof] u tyf ljsf;df vt/f pTkGg eO{ /x] sf] 5 . o; n] vn] ;d] 6\ g vf] h] sf] kIf rflx+ ljBdfg hnjfo' kl/jt{ gsf] ?k tyf o;sf a9\ bf] k| efjn] k| ToIf ck| ToIf ?kdf lhljsf] kfh{ g / ljsf;sf ultdf kf/] sf] c;/ xf] . g] kfn ljsf;f] Gd' v tyf &) k| ltzt eGbf al9 lxdfnL e" -efun] jg] sf] d' n' s xf] hxfF sf] cy{ tGq s[ lifdf cfwfl/t 5 .
