It has been hypothesized that as the exposure to psychiatry increases, attitude toward psychiatry increases. Objective-Present study was designed to know the attitude of intern students towards psychiatry before and after their psychiatry posting using 30 item Attitude towards Psychiatry questionnaire. Methods-The presenting study is a 2 stage cross-sectional and comparative study. Self administered sociodemographic profile sheet and attitude toward psychiatry-30 items (ATP-30) questionnaires were given to intern medical students at the time of joining and after 15 days of psychiatry posting and the scores were analyzed using spps21. Results –Among Pre-postingintern, 53 students have positive attitude toward psychiatry which increased to 85 after 15 days psychiatry posting (p=0.001).The mean± standard deviation score also increased si...

Person living with psoriasis poses problem for the individual concerned with physical, psychological, social functioning and daily living activities. It is linked with social stigmatization, discomfort, physical disability and profound impact on quality of life of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate personality characteristics and quality of life in patient with psoriasis. Subjects and methods: 100 consecutive patients diagnosed as suffering from psoriasis by consultant Dermatologist attending Dermatology OPD were taken up for study and 100 normal subjects preferably the relatives of the patients were constituted the control group. Setting: Department of Psychiatry and Department of Dermatology in tertiary care center in Rajasthan. Tools: 3 tools were used to collect data, (1) Semi structured proforma include sociodemographic characteristics of the study subjects (2) Eysenck’s PEN inventory (3) WHO Quality of Life – Bref Scale Results: The data were analyzed with appropriate statistical test. In our study personality characteristics were evaluated by administering of PEN inventory, the study population was more introverted (54%) than control group (14%) and control group had higher score for extraversion (58%) than study group (28%). On WHOQOL-BREF scale patients with psoriasis had poorer quality of life in all four domains than control group. Conclusion: The psoriasis patients are more neurotic and introverted and poorer quality of life than the control group.
Methylphenidate (MPH) is used as the first line drug for treating the attention deficit hyperacti... more Methylphenidate (MPH) is used as the first line drug for treating the attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Therapeutic dose of MPH is known to causes psychotic symptoms in a small number of cases and these symptoms usually disappear on discontinuing MPH. Here we describe a case of 11 years old boy with diagnosis of ADHD and mild intellectual disability, who was treated with methylphenidate and later developed acute psychosis.

Background: Intellectual disability is a permanent disabling condition, and caregivers are more v... more Background: Intellectual disability is a permanent disabling condition, and caregivers are more vulnerable to develop mental illness. There is little data in developing countries, such as India, concerning about psychological issues in caregivers of intellectually disabled children. Objective: The objective of this study was to find the prevalence of psychiatric morbidity and correlation between sociodemographic factors and psychiatric morbidity in parents of children with intellectual disability. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out among 60 parents of children with intellectual disability at the outpatient Department of Psychiatry, Tertiary Care Centre, India. Parents, who fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study, were interviewed by using semi-structured pro forma, International Disease Classification-10 criteria for mental illness, Beck Depression Inventory and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale, and Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test. Results: The prevalence of depressive disorder was 28.33%, anxiety disorder was 18.33%, and other psychiatric disorders was 8.33% (psychotic disorder 3.33%, insomnia 1.66%, and alcohol use disorder 3.33%) and total psychiatric morbidity was about 55% in parents of children with intellectual disability. Conclusion: The study shows high psychiatric morbidity in parents of children with intellectual disability, and psychiatric screening should be considered among parents of children with intellectual disability.

This paper argues that at least three different hands had contributed to its formation. The growth of the material can clearly be traced back to the emergence of the core material of verses 5a.8-16, and its gradual supplementation with verses 3-7, 17-21 and verses 1-2.
