Methods: A structured clinical examination and conventional imaging leads to localization of the cause of abdominal pain. The pathology is mostly localized to an abdominal visceral content or neighboring reteroperitoneal structure, which are fixed in their location on imaging. Abdominal & peritoneal spaces are free of any freely mobile structures outside the luminal viscera. Even the image picked pathologies, usually urinary tract stones or foreign bodies in gastrointestinal tracts, shift their image positions at a speed dictated by the physiological function of the viscera. Results: Any finding of an image that shifts faster than the physiological movement and is extraluminal is a free or loose peritoneal body. These bodies have been found either on autopsies or as incidental findings on exploratory laparotomy for other causes. Conclusion: These have a boiled egg appearance and are known as peritoneal mouse. A preoperative diagnosis of these bodies in abdominal pain has not been reported so far.

Pursuit of precision is benchmarked on various indices. ‘Patient-reported outcomes’ have become an acceptable metrics given the substantial progress on the clinical outcome measures. Surgery being a hybrid of science and arts, gives space for creativity culminating into innovations. Laparoscopic surgery has become the most recent licence for surgical innovations. Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) is an offspring of such innovating zeal. However, it is being viewed as if the surgeon is firing from the patient’s shoulder. Enthused with the success of laparoscopic surgery without any randomized studies, the proponents of SILS display no need for such studies for justifying SILS. Concerns about SILS emanate from the possibility of harm to patient negating the tenet of ‘Primum non nocere’. Surgeons have been known to be vindictive to their peers, hence the most honest criti...

Up to 30% of women suffer from some benign breast diseases. It is a group of breast diseases which is troublesome to the patient but is not cancer. 1-3 Fibroadenoma, fibrocystic change, breast cysts, and breast abscesses account for most of these benign lesions. Triple assessment, which includes clinical examination, imaging, and histopathology, is the main method of approach in the diagnosis of these benign breast diseases. 5,6 Surgical excision is the definitive procedure performed for symptomatic benign breast tumors to alleviate anxiety regarding potential for growth or malignancy as well as physical discomfort. 7 Given the nonmalignant nature of these benign breast lesions, an important goal in treatment should be cosmesis. Currently, the accepted definitive treatment of surgical excision results in scar formation and potential for keloids, as well as breast volume loss and potential for nipple-areolar distortion or displacement. 8 The new minimally invasive techniques has advanced due to its appeal of low morbidity, early resumption of normal routine with promising outcomes and cosmesis. These include endoscopic lumpectomy,

In this study we evaluated the proposed stoma site use as specimen extraction and its potential advantages in terms of decreased wound related morbidity and early institution of adjuvant therapy. Material and methods A retrospective study from July 2014 till December 2016, where patients posted for minimally invasive colorectal procedures with diverting ileostomy were included, end points being wound related morbidity including surgical site infection and incisional hernia and time to start chemotherapy. Results Of 12 patients included in the study, wound related morbidity was less and time to start adjuvant therapy was within 20days in most of the patients (91%). Conclusions Stoma site use as specimen extraction is an acceptable option in selected group of patients. More studies with larger case pools are needed to standardize this approach.
