BACKGROUND/AIMS Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a major issue in hospitals worldwide.... more BACKGROUND/AIMS Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a major issue in hospitals worldwide. Isolation precautions are considered necessary to reduce the spread of HAIs. The failure of nurses to comply with isolation precautions may have a negative impact on both nursing care and the psychological and social lives of patients and their families. Therefore, this study aims to identify the level of nurse compliance with isolation precautions taken to prevent HAIs and to develop suggestions in line with the results obtained. MATERIAL and METHODS This work consisted of a cross-sectional descriptive study. The study population was 180 nurses working in a private hospital in Nicosia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Although it aimed to reach the entire population, the study sample consisted of 110 nurses. Data were collected between May and June 2017, using an Information Form and the Compliance with Isolation Precautions Scale. RESULTS Nearly all the nurses had adequate knowledge about HAIs and isolation precautions. The study results showed that nurses had a high level of compliance with isolation precautions for preventing hospital infections. CONCLUSION These results suggest that it may be advisable to increase the number of continuous education programs that encourage nurses and healthcare professionals to comply with infection control measures and isolation precautions at the highest level and to raise their awareness about the importance of hand hygiene habits and immunization against HAIs.

Methodology The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews guidelines, using the PICO model that is based on an evidence-based practice process was matched. A total of twenty-three studies included six themes: performance skills (n = 13), self-confidence (n = 8), satisfaction (n = 10), anxiety level (n = 3), self-efficacy (n = 4), and knowledge (n = 15). Experimental randomised control trials and quasi-experimental studies from 2009 to 2019, conducted in English, were included. Nursing students (n = 1797; BSN, ADN, MSc, LPN) participated. Results and conclusion This review was indicated that virtual reality simulation provides learning strategy to acquire clinical skills, improve knowledge acquisition, increase self-confidence, self-efficacy, and satisfaction level, and decrease anxiety levels among nursing students.

The population of the study, which had a cross-sectional design, included all undergraduate students (n = 525) attending the nursing school. The sample group comprised 397 nursing students selected from among the nursing students attending a baccalaureate programme in Turkey using the disproportional cluster sampling method. Data were collected utilizing the Personal Information Form and Value Preferences Scale. The personal values of the students were found to be moral, social, financial/economic, aesthetic, political, religious and scientific/theoretical values. Research was realized with qualitative method in type of descriptive phenomenology. The work group consisted of 4 th grade volunteer students inscribed to the course of Education at Nursing at a nursing graduate school, in spring semester 2010-2011 (N:146) During the research, oriented sample method was used. Among the data, student presenter features were gathered in the Information Form whereas, their opinions about project based learning were gathered by using Semi-Structured Interview Form. Following questions took place in the Semi-Structured Interview Form concerning the levels of project based learning: How did …. level contributed to you in terms of individually and professionally? What are the most challenging and pleasuring points in …. level? The data was analyzed by qualitative (content analysis) and quantitative (frequency) data decoding techniques. Students introductory features' frequency and percentage was calculated with SPSS 16.0 packaged software. While 94,5% of the participating students were females, among them, 24,7% were 21 years old, making the average 22,92±2,53. 31,5% of them graduated from super high school. 67,8% of the students never took place in a project. In the research, common view is that even though students struggled at some points, it is a contributing learning approach. In line with these conclusions, project based learning might be regarded as an approach improving individual and team work, creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills of nursing students.
