Implementation of the intercropping of tomato with mustard plants in Central Sulawesi Palu valley... more Implementation of the intercropping of tomato with mustard plants in Central Sulawesi Palu valley region in particular in Palu Valley is very little conducted by farmers. Habits of farmers especially in the area of Central Sulawesi in controlling pests of horticultural crops are still relying on the use of chemical insecticides with relatively high doses concentration. This study aims to determine the effect of intercropping of tomato and mustard plants on the attack of Plutella xylostella L. This research is compiled using a randomized block design with 4 treatments were repeated 3 times. Variables measured the population density of P. xylostella L, the intensity of the attacks, and the production of mustard. The results showed intercropping of tomato plants can significantly affect suppress the population, the intensity of P. xylostella L and mustard production. The highest population is in the control treatment with 1.80 tail and lowest population for the treatment of mustard planted on the sidelines of the tomato crop in the direction from east to west by 0 tail. The intensity of the attacks is highest in the control treatment of 62,80 % and the lowest for the treatment of mustard planted on the sidelines of the tomato crop in the direction from east to west. The high production was 3.82 ton/ha in treatment of mustard surrounded by tomato plants and the lowest production found on control treatments contained 1.67 ton/ha.

The purpose of this study was to determine the pathogenicity (Lethal Concentrate = LC 50 value) o... more The purpose of this study was to determine the pathogenicity (Lethal Concentrate = LC 50 value) of entomopathogenic Steinernema spp. and Heterorhabditis spp. nematodes against caterpillar pests of onion S. exiqua. This study was conducted during October to December 2013, in the Pests and Plant Diseases Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Tadulako University of Palu. This researchused a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in atwo factorial experiment. The factors were type of nematodes and concentration. Each treatment was replicated three times, so that there were 24 experimental units. The nematodes used in this study were third in star nematodes. The concentration of the nematodes use dincluding 500 IJ per 4ml water (p 1), 750 IJ per 4 ml water (p 2), 1000 IJ per 4 ml water (p 3)and 1250 IJ per 4 ml water (p 4). The results showed that the mortality of S. exiqua larvae increases with rising nematod concentration. Highest mortality found during one day after application (DAA) to 6 DAA was under 1250 IJ (p 4) so it is the most effective and efficient concentration to be implemented for controlling S. exiqua larvae. The estimated value of LC 50 using probit analysis is 425.64 IJ ml-1 water with the range of 244.77 to 740.16 IJ ml-1 water, in this case about 425-IJ ml-1 water is required to halve the number of the tested insects within six days.

However, the shallot cultivation has still been facing with beet armyworm (Spodopter exigua) pests. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of botanical pesticide made from chilli (C. annuum) and garlic (A. sativum) on mortality of larvae of S. exigua. The research was carried on in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako from September to December 2015. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments, each treatment was repeated three times so there were 21 experimental units. The composition of the treatmentswas as follows: control (p 0 , water only), 2 ml fresh chilli/100 ml water (p 1), 4 ml rotten chilli/100 ml water (p 2), 6 ml fresh garlic/100 ml water (p 3), 8 ml rotten garlic/100 ml water (p 4), 10 ml rotten chilli + rotten garlic/100 ml water (p 5), 12 ml fresh chilli + fresh garlic/100 ml water (p 6). The results showed that the concentration of 10 ml of rottenchilli + rottten garlic/100 ml water is very effective in suppressing the S. exigua larvae by 83%-96% within 3-4 days after the botanical pest application.

The use fulness of this research is for information about the solution in dealing with the attack of P. xylostella on mustard crop and as pest management of P. xylostella environmentally friendly. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design method (RBD) consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications. The treatment consisted of mustard plant is planted in monoculture, plant basil and marigolds planted together among the mustard plant, basil plants grown with mustard, plant marigolds planted together mustard. Variable observation in this study is the population density, the intensity of P. xylostella, as well as mustrad production. Plant basil and marigolds repellent significant effect on the population density and intensity of P. xylostella and the production of mustard. Plant basil grown with mustard is the most effective repellent plants treatment compared to other treatments, showed the lowest population density of P. xylostella (0.1 tail/plant), the lowest attack intensity (1%) and the highest production of mustard 19.52 (tonnes/ha).

Pertanian terpadu merupakan suatu sistem yang menggabungkan kegiatan pertanian, peternakan, perik... more Pertanian terpadu merupakan suatu sistem yang menggabungkan kegiatan pertanian, peternakan, perikanan dalam satu kawasan, sehingga diharapkan dapat menajadi salah satu solusi alternatif bagi peningkatan produktivitas lahan, peningkatan kesejateraaan masyarakat serta pengembangan desa secara terpadu. Bagi masyarakat di Kecamatan Gumbasa. Pelaksanaan pertanian terpadu, sangat potensial karena desa-desa di wilayah kecamatan tersebut memiliki karakteristik daerah yang sama yakni memiliki lahan pertanian dan perkebunan yang semakin sempit akibat pembangunan infrastruktur sebagai daerah otonom baru. Selain itu masyarakatnya memiliki ternak serta adanya usaha perikanan tambak (air tawar). Program KKN-PPM bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat sasaran dalam mengembangkan pertanian terpadu sebagai salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan efisiensi lahan dan sumberdaya lainnya dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Target khusus yang ingin dicapai adalah: meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal secara optimal, untuk mengembangkan pertanian terpadu secara berkelanjutan, serta meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat dalam kegiatan pembangunan dan pengembangan desa. Untuk mencapai tujuan dan target tersebut, akan dilakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat khususnya bagi kelompok sasaran dengan fokus kegiatan meliputi: (a) sosialisasi program KKN-PPM kepada pemerintah daerah, terutama bagi instansi teknis terkait, pemerintah setempat dan masyarakat kelompok sasaran, (b) penyuluhan tentang pertanian terpadu dan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, (c) pelatihan partisipatif untuk peningkatan keterampilan kelompok sasaran dalam melakukan indentifikasi potensi, permasalahan dan peluang pengembangan usaha, menyusun rencana kegiatan, melakukan implementasi kegiatan serta monitoring dan evaluasi program/kegiatan, (e) pelatihan teknologi pertanian terpadu serta (f) pendampingan bagi kelompok sasaran program. Hasil pelaksanaan program KKN-PPM di Kecamatan Gumbasa telah melakukan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat berupa pengembangan RPL dan penanaman MPTS. Pengembangan RPL di Desa Pakuli dengan mengembangankan sebanyak 34 rumah tangga sedangkan penanaman MPTS di Desa Simoro dengan menanam sebanyak 250 tanaman dan di Desa Omu sebanyak 250 tanaman MPTS.

This research aimed to determine of the diversity and evenness of Arthropod that are distributed under different planting patterns. This research started on April until July 2016, located in Sidera, Sigi Biromaru Sub district, Sigi Biromaru Regency, Central Sulawesi. The method used in this research was an absolute method (a unit sample used was an area size of 1m x 4m within which observations to all individual Arthropod were done systematically) and the nisbi method (Pitfall, Sweep, and Yellowtraps were used). The planting pattern simple mented in this research were red onion – red onion, red onion – chili, and red in the planting pattern of red onion – beans. The diversity of Arthropod on the different planting patterns and the planting pattern of red onion – chili and red onion – beans was classified as medium category with the production of red onion was 3.49 ton/ha. The efforts to control larvae attack using chemical pesticides are often carried out. One of the alternatives chosen to control the larvae attack is the use of Nerium (Nerium oleander L.) leaf extract. This plant has the potential as a larvicide because it is toxic. The study's main goal was to figure out what effect a certain concentration of N. oleander leaf extract had on the population density and attack intensity of S. exigua larvae. The investigation was carried out between December 2018 and February 2019. P0= 0 g/l (without treatment), P1= 2.68 g/l (0.268%), P2= 5.37 g/l (0.537%), P3= 10.75 g/l (1.075%), P4= 21.5 g/l (2.15%), and P5= 43 g/l (4.3%) were employed in the study. The randomized block design (RBD) was utilized in the study, and it was repeated four times. The findings revealed that increasing the quantity of N. oleander leaf extract may reduce the population density and attack intensity of S. exigua larvae while simultaneously increasing the output of Lembah Palu shallots. Generally speaking, the higher the concentration of N. oleander leaf extract, the lower the population density of S. exigua larvae, and the larger the shallot yield. It is necessary to use the effective concentration of N. oleander leaf extract, which is P3 (10.75 g/ha) with a production rate of 7.29 tons/ha in order to get the desired results.

Kelompok tani ternak "Mantilayo Jaya" sebagai mitra program pengabdian kepada masyarakat beranggo... more Kelompok tani ternak "Mantilayo Jaya" sebagai mitra program pengabdian kepada masyarakat beranggotakan 20 orang umumnya adalah petani yang memiliki ternak. Masalah yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah kegiatan usaha tani sangat bergantung pada alam, yakni bila musim hujan turun petani melaksanakan usahatani sedangkan bila musim hujan sudah berakhir petani melaksanakan kegiatan berkebun serta beternak sapi dan kambing. Hal tersebut karena lahan usaha tani belum memiliki jaringan irigasi. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut adalah dengan perbaikan teknik budidaya tanaman dan perbaikan kualitas pakan hijauan untuk ternak sapi dan kambing. Program Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk mendampingi masyarakat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan memanfaatkan sumber daya lahan secara optimal melalui usaha integrasi tanaman dan ternak. Metode yang diterapkan adalah pelatihan, demplot percontohan dan pendampingan kepada masyarakat. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan limbah pertanian dan peternakan menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi. Pascakegiatan, masyarakat telah memanfaatkan limbah pertanian dan limbah peternakan menjadi kompos. Demikian juga peserta telah memiliki lahan percontohan budidaya rumput hijauan Panicum sarmentosum yang dapat menjadi sumber bibit / stek untuk pengembangan hijauan tersebut. Dengan demikian diharapkan produktivitas usaha tani dan ternak dapat meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat.

Munculnya hama invasif Spodoptera frugiperda di Indonesia menjadi ancaman keberlanjutan produksi jagung di Sulawesi Tengah. Penggunaan insektisida sintetis untuk mengendalikan hama tersebut menimbulkan berbagai dampak negatif. Untuk mengurangi dampak negatif tersebut dapat digunakan insektisida botani. Masalah dalam penggunaan insektisida botani adalah petani belum mengetahui ekstrak tumbuhan yang efektif mengendalikan S. frugiperda. Program pengabdian diseminasi hasil penelitian bertujuan untuk mendampingi petani mengembangkan ekstrak tumbuhan Calotropis gigantea, Vitex negundo, dan Ageratum conyzoides. Metode pelaksanaan dengan pendekatan participatory action programs dengan tahapan: penyuluhan dan pelatihan, rancang bangun teknologi, demplot aplikasi ekstrak, pengamatan intensitas serangan S. frugiperda, serta pendampingan masyarakat. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa petani dapat membuat dan mengaplikasikan ekstrak tumbuhan C. gigantea, V. negundo dan A. conyzoides. Ketiga jenis ekstrak tumbuhan tersebut dapat menekan intensitas serangan S. frugiperda. Ekstrak C. gigantea menekan serangan S. frugiperda (6,71% menjadi 4,04% pada 35 hst, dan 3,35% menjadi 1,7% pada 42 hst), ekstrak V. negundo (6,71% menjadi 4,62% dan 3,35% menjadi 2,43%) serta ekstrak A. conyzoides (6,71% menjadi 4,99% dan 3,35% menjadi 2,43%). The production of dried unhusked rice (DUR) in Central Sulawesi province in 2014 was 1,022,054 t decreasing 9,310 t (0.90%) compared to the previous production in 2013 (1,031,364 t). Therice production in 2014 had contributed about 1.44% to the total national DUR production of 70.85 million t (CBS, 2015). The decreasing productivity is partly due to earhead rice bugs. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of V. lecanii Palolo fungal isolates of different suspension dilutionson the mortality of testedearhead rice bugs(Leptocorisa acuta Thunberg) keptin a house screen. The propagation of V. lecanii using PSA media and themaking of suspension dilution were carried out in Plant Pest laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture Tadulako University in February to April 2016. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized design with five treatments i.e. control, dilutions of 10-3 , 10-5 , 10-7 , and 10-9. Each experimental unit was replicated thrice. Each treatment of the dilutions was 1 ml drew up using a pipette and allowed to dropdirectly on the ear bug body. The bugs then were released into the house screen within whichgrown plant rice had reached a milky grain phase. The mortality of the bugs infected with V. lecanii was observed seven days after the applications. The highest imago mortality of the earhead rice bugs was found in the 10-5 dilution of Palolo V. lecanii isolates.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate bioactive compound contents of the "Sidondo" plant ... more The objectives of this study were to evaluate bioactive compound contents of the "Sidondo" plant (Vitex negundo L.) especially those compound that are potentially used as botanical pesticide and to test the plant extract influence on tested Spodoptera exigua and Plutella xylostella larvae mortality and toxicity. This study was conducted in Plant Protection and Biotecnology Laboratories, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University from March to October 2008. Results of the study indicated that crude extract of the V. negundo could kill both S. exigua and P. xylostella larvae. The highest mortality rate for S. exigua (32%) was found when the plant was extracted with ethanol and for P. xylostella (27%) was seen with methanol extraction. The effective extract concentration was 0.3% for S. exigua and 0.2% for P. xylostella. The extract sub-lethal concentration (LC 50) was 0.49% for S. exigua and 0.42% for P. xylostella. The extract of V. negundo contained Saponin which could be used as a botanical insecticide active ingredient.

Variables measured the population density of P. xylostella L, the intensity of the attacks, and the production of mustard. The results showed intercropping of tomato plants can significantly affect suppress the population, the intensity of P. xylostella L and mustard production. The highest population is in the control treatment with 1.80 tail and lowest population for the treatment of mustard planted on the sidelines of the tomato crop in the direction from east to west by 0 tail. The intensity of the attacks is highest in the control treatment of 62,80 % and the lowest for the treatment of mustard planted on the sidelines of the tomato crop in the direction from east to west. The high production was 3.82 ton/ha in treatment of mustard surrounded by tomato plants and the lowest production found on control treatments contained 1.67 ton/ha.

This study was conducted during October to December 2013, in the Pests and Plant Diseases Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Tadulako University of Palu. This researchused a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in atwo factorial experiment. The factors were type of nematodes and concentration. Each treatment was replicated three times, so that there were 24 experimental units. The nematodes used in this study were third in star nematodes. The concentration of the nematodes use dincluding 500 IJ per 4ml water (p 1), 750 IJ per 4 ml water (p 2), 1000 IJ per 4 ml water (p 3)and 1250 IJ per 4 ml water (p 4). The results showed that the mortality of S. exiqua larvae increases with rising nematod concentration. Highest mortality found during one day after application (DAA) to 6 DAA was under 1250 IJ (p 4) so it is the most effective and efficient concentration to be implemented for controlling S. exiqua larvae. The estimated value of LC 50 using probit analysis is 425.64 IJ ml-1 water with the range of 244.77 to 740.16 IJ ml-1 water, in this case about 425-IJ ml-1 water is required to halve the number of the tested insects within six days.

However, the shallot cultivation has still been facing with beet armyworm (Spodopter exigua) pests. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of botanical pesticide made from chilli (C. annuum) and garlic (A. sativum) on mortality of larvae of S. exigua. The research was carried on in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako from September to December 2015. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments, each treatment was repeated three times so there were 21 experimental units. The composition of the treatmentswas as follows: control (p 0 , water only), 2 ml fresh chilli/100 ml water (p 1), 4 ml rotten chilli/100 ml water (p 2), 6 ml fresh garlic/100 ml water (p 3), 8 ml rotten garlic/100 ml water (p 4), 10 ml rotten chilli + rotten garlic/100 ml water (p 5), 12 ml fresh chilli + fresh garlic/100 ml water (p 6). The results showed that the concentration of 10 ml of rottenchilli + rottten garlic/100 ml water is very effective in suppressing the S. exigua larvae by 83%-96% within 3-4 days after the botanical pest application.

The use fulness of this research is for information about the solution in dealing with the attack of P. xylostella on mustard crop and as pest management of P. xylostella environmentally friendly. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design method (RBD) consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications. The treatment consisted of mustard plant is planted in monoculture, plant basil and marigolds planted together among the mustard plant, basil plants grown with mustard, plant marigolds planted together mustard. Variable observation in this study is the population density, the intensity of P. xylostella, as well as mustrad production. Plant basil and marigolds repellent significant effect on the population density and intensity of P. xylostella and the production of mustard. Plant basil grown with mustard is the most effective repellent plants treatment compared to other treatments, showed the lowest population density of P. xylostella (0.1 tail/plant), the lowest attack intensity (1%) and the highest production of mustard 19.52 (tonnes/ha).

Pertanian terpadu merupakan suatu sistem yang menggabungkan kegiatan pertanian, peternakan, perik... more Pertanian terpadu merupakan suatu sistem yang menggabungkan kegiatan pertanian, peternakan, perikanan dalam satu kawasan, sehingga diharapkan dapat menajadi salah satu solusi alternatif bagi peningkatan produktivitas lahan, peningkatan kesejateraaan masyarakat serta pengembangan desa secara terpadu. Bagi masyarakat di Kecamatan Gumbasa. Pelaksanaan pertanian terpadu, sangat potensial karena desa-desa di wilayah kecamatan tersebut memiliki karakteristik daerah yang sama yakni memiliki lahan pertanian dan perkebunan yang semakin sempit akibat pembangunan infrastruktur sebagai daerah otonom baru. Selain itu masyarakatnya memiliki ternak serta adanya usaha perikanan tambak (air tawar). Program KKN-PPM bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat sasaran dalam mengembangkan pertanian terpadu sebagai salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan efisiensi lahan dan sumberdaya lainnya dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Target khusus yang ingin dicapai adalah: meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal secara optimal, untuk mengembangkan pertanian terpadu secara berkelanjutan, serta meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat dalam kegiatan pembangunan dan pengembangan desa. Untuk mencapai tujuan dan target tersebut, akan dilakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat khususnya bagi kelompok sasaran dengan fokus kegiatan meliputi: (a) sosialisasi program KKN-PPM kepada pemerintah daerah, terutama bagi instansi teknis terkait, pemerintah setempat dan masyarakat kelompok sasaran, (b) penyuluhan tentang pertanian terpadu dan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, (c) pelatihan partisipatif untuk peningkatan keterampilan kelompok sasaran dalam melakukan indentifikasi potensi, permasalahan dan peluang pengembangan usaha, menyusun rencana kegiatan, melakukan implementasi kegiatan serta monitoring dan evaluasi program/kegiatan, (e) pelatihan teknologi pertanian terpadu serta (f) pendampingan bagi kelompok sasaran program. Hasil pelaksanaan program KKN-PPM di Kecamatan Gumbasa telah melakukan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat berupa pengembangan RPL dan penanaman MPTS. Pengembangan RPL di Desa Pakuli dengan mengembangankan sebanyak 34 rumah tangga sedangkan penanaman MPTS di Desa Simoro dengan menanam sebanyak 250 tanaman dan di Desa Omu sebanyak 250 tanaman MPTS.

This research aimed to determine of the diversity and evenness of Arthropod that are distributed under different planting patterns. This research started on April until July 2016, located in Sidera, Sigi Biromaru Sub district, Sigi Biromaru Regency, Central Sulawesi. The method used in this research was an absolute method (a unit sample used was an area size of 1m x 4m within which observations to all individual Arthropod were done systematically) and the nisbi method (Pitfall, Sweep, and Yellowtraps were used). The planting pattern simple mented in this research were red onion – red onion, red onion – chili, and red in the planting pattern of red onion – beans. The diversity of Arthropod on the different planting patterns and the planting pattern of red onion – chili and red onion – beans was classified as medium category with the production of red onion was 3.49 ton/ha. The efforts to control larvae attack using chemical pesticides are often carried out. One of the alternatives chosen to control the larvae attack is the use of Nerium (Nerium oleander L.) leaf extract. This plant has the potential as a larvicide because it is toxic. The study's main goal was to figure out what effect a certain concentration of N. oleander leaf extract had on the population density and attack intensity of S. exigua larvae. The investigation was carried out between December 2018 and February 2019. P0= 0 g/l (without treatment), P1= 2.68 g/l (0.268%), P2= 5.37 g/l (0.537%), P3= 10.75 g/l (1.075%), P4= 21.5 g/l (2.15%), and P5= 43 g/l (4.3%) were employed in the study. The randomized block design (RBD) was utilized in the study, and it was repeated four times. The findings revealed that increasing the quantity of N. oleander leaf extract may reduce the population density and attack intensity of S. exigua larvae while simultaneously increasing the output of Lembah Palu shallots. Generally speaking, the higher the concentration of N. oleander leaf extract, the lower the population density of S. exigua larvae, and the larger the shallot yield. It is necessary to use the effective concentration of N. oleander leaf extract, which is P3 (10.75 g/ha) with a production rate of 7.29 tons/ha in order to get the desired results.

Masalah yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah kegiatan usaha tani sangat bergantung pada alam, yakni bila musim hujan turun petani melaksanakan usahatani sedangkan bila musim hujan sudah berakhir petani melaksanakan kegiatan berkebun serta beternak sapi dan kambing. Hal tersebut karena lahan usaha tani belum memiliki jaringan irigasi. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut adalah dengan perbaikan teknik budidaya tanaman dan perbaikan kualitas pakan hijauan untuk ternak sapi dan kambing. Program Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk mendampingi masyarakat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan memanfaatkan sumber daya lahan secara optimal melalui usaha integrasi tanaman dan ternak. Metode yang diterapkan adalah pelatihan, demplot percontohan dan pendampingan kepada masyarakat. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan limbah pertanian dan peternakan menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi. Pascakegiatan, masyarakat telah memanfaatkan limbah pertanian dan limbah peternakan menjadi kompos. Demikian juga peserta telah memiliki lahan percontohan budidaya rumput hijauan Panicum sarmentosum yang dapat menjadi sumber bibit / stek untuk pengembangan hijauan tersebut. Dengan demikian diharapkan produktivitas usaha tani dan ternak dapat meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat.

Munculnya hama invasif Spodoptera frugiperda di Indonesia menjadi ancaman keberlanjutan produksi jagung di Sulawesi Tengah. Penggunaan insektisida sintetis untuk mengendalikan hama tersebut menimbulkan berbagai dampak negatif. Untuk mengurangi dampak negatif tersebut dapat digunakan insektisida botani. Masalah dalam penggunaan insektisida botani adalah petani belum mengetahui ekstrak tumbuhan yang efektif mengendalikan S. frugiperda. Program pengabdian diseminasi hasil penelitian bertujuan untuk mendampingi petani mengembangkan ekstrak tumbuhan Calotropis gigantea, Vitex negundo, dan Ageratum conyzoides. Metode pelaksanaan dengan pendekatan participatory action programs dengan tahapan: penyuluhan dan pelatihan, rancang bangun teknologi, demplot aplikasi ekstrak, pengamatan intensitas serangan S. frugiperda, serta pendampingan masyarakat. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa petani dapat membuat dan mengaplikasikan ekstrak tumbuhan C. gigantea, V. negundo dan A. conyzoides. Ketiga jenis ekstrak tumbuhan tersebut dapat menekan intensitas serangan S. frugiperda. Ekstrak C. gigantea menekan serangan S. frugiperda (6,71% menjadi 4,04% pada 35 hst, dan 3,35% menjadi 1,7% pada 42 hst), ekstrak V. negundo (6,71% menjadi 4,62% dan 3,35% menjadi 2,43%) serta ekstrak A. conyzoides (6,71% menjadi 4,99% dan 3,35% menjadi 2,43%). The production of dried unhusked rice (DUR) in Central Sulawesi province in 2014 was 1,022,054 t decreasing 9,310 t (0.90%) compared to the previous production in 2013 (1,031,364 t). Therice production in 2014 had contributed about 1.44% to the total national DUR production of 70.85 million t (CBS, 2015). The decreasing productivity is partly due to earhead rice bugs. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of V. lecanii Palolo fungal isolates of different suspension dilutionson the mortality of testedearhead rice bugs(Leptocorisa acuta Thunberg) keptin a house screen. The propagation of V. lecanii using PSA media and themaking of suspension dilution were carried out in Plant Pest laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture Tadulako University in February to April 2016. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized design with five treatments i.e. control, dilutions of 10-3 , 10-5 , 10-7 , and 10-9. Each experimental unit was replicated thrice. Each treatment of the dilutions was 1 ml drew up using a pipette and allowed to dropdirectly on the ear bug body. The bugs then were released into the house screen within whichgrown plant rice had reached a milky grain phase. The mortality of the bugs infected with V. lecanii was observed seven days after the applications. The highest imago mortality of the earhead rice bugs was found in the 10-5 dilution of Palolo V. lecanii isolates.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate bioactive compound contents of the "Sidondo" plant ... more The objectives of this study were to evaluate bioactive compound contents of the "Sidondo" plant (Vitex negundo L.) especially those compound that are potentially used as botanical pesticide and to test the plant extract influence on tested Spodoptera exigua and Plutella xylostella larvae mortality and toxicity. This study was conducted in Plant Protection and Biotecnology Laboratories, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University from March to October 2008. Results of the study indicated that crude extract of the V. negundo could kill both S. exigua and P. xylostella larvae. The highest mortality rate for S. exigua (32%) was found when the plant was extracted with ethanol and for P. xylostella (27%) was seen with methanol extraction. The effective extract concentration was 0.3% for S. exigua and 0.2% for P. xylostella. The extract sub-lethal concentration (LC 50) was 0.49% for S. exigua and 0.42% for P. xylostella. The extract of V. negundo contained Saponin which could be used as a botanical insecticide active ingredient.
