Studies regarding the quality of life of women after natural delivery and cesarian section showed that the first of them have a better quality of life comparing to the life quality of women after cesarian section. Aim. The present study aims to emphasize one of the important aspects influenced by the chosen type of birth. It is the life quality of women immediate after delivery, with early repercussions on confinement’s capacity to exert her role as a mother. Material and method. Study was conducted on 20 women in the first days after delivery, ages between 20 and 34 years old. We split the confinements into two groups: one of the women who had a vaginal birth and one of those who had a C-section. The following assessment tools were used: Beck Depression Inventory, Start and Trait Anxiety Inventory, SF-36, APGAR score for the new-born. Results. The study results emphasized that the pain level was lower after vaginal birth comparing t...

This randomized trial was conducted on 36 subacute stroke patients, 19 men (52.8%) and 17 women (47.2%), mean age 65,83±9,42, with more than 1 month and less than 6 months since onset. Trunk control test was used for core stability and for functional independence were used Functional Independence Test and Timed Up and Go Test. There was a statistical difference between the baseline and final score for independence in toileting (p < 0,004), feeding (p < 0,001), dressing upper and lower body (p < 0,001), Trunk control test (p < 0,001), and Timed Up and Go Test (p < 0,000). Also, there was a positive correlation between the increasing of trunk control and ADL independence and walking (p < 0,001), and no differences between men and women and between left and right hemiplegia in the evolution of trunk control and independence in ADLs and walking (p > 0,005). Strength exercises, Kabat diagonals and PNF are efficient in increasing trunk control in hemiplegic patients, leading to a better performance in ADL and walking. Patient gender and stroke location has no influence on the evolution of gait and ADL independence.

For patients with LDH, a comparative study was conducted to understand the benefits of Vojta therapy and conservative physical therapy versus physical therapy only. The aim of this paperwork was to help physicians select interventions which are most appropriate for this disease. Methods: Seventy-seven patients with LDH from two cohorts were included in analysis (Group A and Group B). Group A benefited from 30 min of Vojta therapy procedures, in addition to the usual physical therapy treatment, and group B received a conservatory physical therapy program. The subjects were assessed with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), mobility tests, muscle strength tests and the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire. Results: Pain intensity and disability decreased in both groups (p = 0.000 in experi...

Hypotheses: 1. The combined physical activity program (Pilates, step-aerobics and strength training) practiced in gyms, may increase the strength and stability of the core muscles. 2. The effects of the intervention program on the strength and stability of the core muscles are manifested differently depending on the age range. Subjects and methods: This study involved 95 adult women, who practiced physical activities in two gyms in Oradea, for 12 months, between February 2015 and June 2016. To test the strength and stability of the core muscles we used the functional test "Core Muscle Strength and Stability Test". The physical activity program consisted in combined training of Pilates, Step - aerobics and strength training in the ...

The number of patients with ESRD is rapidly increasing. From the moment that ESRD is diagnosed, the natural evolution of this pathology is towards mandatory dialysis, in absence of a renal transplant procedure. In order to perform hemodialysis, a vascular access site must be created and maintained functional. A proper vascular access site allows an adequate blood flow through the dialysis machine, in order to obtain the required results. The arterio-venous fistula represents the number one recommended vascular access site procedure. Establishing and maintaining a vascular access represents one of the biggest problems in hemodialysis. The arterio-venous fistula thus becomes the patient’s lifeline. Maintaining a good quality vascular access site is a demanding process and requires cooperation between both the patient and the health care provid...

This paperwork aims to emphasize the efficiency of a comprehensive rehabilitation program in functional and quality of life improvement and pain reduction, in patients with hip osteoarthritis.Subjects. This study was conducted in Clinical Rehabilitation Hospital from Baile Felix, on a group of 10 patiants with hip arthrosis, aged between 50 and 80 years old, 50% man, 50% woman, average weight &2 kg, IMC 25.6, duration of affection average 17 years, 50% retired from activity, 50% workers.Metods. As assessment tools were used: goniometry, 0-5 scale for muscular force and Womac index for pain and quality of life assessment. The exercise program aimed to increase hip muscle tonus and the increasing of hip jount mobility and stability due to a better crossing of femorla head in the acetabular cavity.Results. Af...

Children with spastic tetraparesis who benefit from early and continuous kinetic intervention have a chance to an almost normal neuromotor development and to a better integration into society, in this way the quality of life of these children being increased. Design and methods. The 17 years old patient's present and over time conditions, and her quality of life were assessed using the questionnaire method, ataxia test, Thomas test, Dynamic Gait Index and the assessment of the ADLs. Results. Regarding the ataxia, it seems that it was installed throughout the patient's development and there was no improvement. According to the Thomas test results, the hip flexum decreased throughout the years from an angle of 13° in 2001 to 5° in 2006, before stopping the physical therapy. From then up until now the hip flexum reinstalled, getting worse by 3°. Regarding the gait, the patient has a slight impariment and both a moderate and severe impairment, depending on the obstac...

In patients with lumbar disc protrusion, the nucleus pulposus bulges against the disc and the latter protrudes into the spinal column, but the annulus fibrosus remains intact. The purpose of this study was to prove that starting an early complex rehabilitation treatment results into pain and disability reduction, and increased muscle strength and mobility in patients with lumbar disc protrusions. We performed a prospective cohort study, enrolling 60 patients (25 men and 35 women) aged between 26 to 76 years, diagnosed with lumbar disc protrusion. Patients in the experimental group registered significant improvements in all studied variables (pain, mobility, muscle strength, disability) after 6 months of treatment. The results of our study suggest that, in the lumbar disc disease, a combined rehabilitation program may be more effective in terms of pain and disability reduction,...

Stroke is an acute, severe neurological disorder resulting from blockage of blood brain irrigation or cerebral haemorrhage. Aim. The present paper aims to demonstrate that physical therapy intervention, regardless of the duration of the disorder, can speed the patient's reintegration into normal life by: improving day-today activities, balance improvement and gait rehabilitation. Means. The study was conducted at the Medical Rehabilitation Clinic in Băile Felix and at the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation Oradea, on 14 subjects with stroke, mean age 52.6 ± 12.7 ± 7.7, 57% were women and 43% were men. As assessment means were used: the Stroke Impact Scale, the ADL assessment, the Berg Balance Scale and the Trunk Control Test. Physical therapy intervention consisted of exercises for reducing the spasticity of the upper limb, the Kabat diagonals, exercises for increasing motor control and trunk stability, promoting movements in the lower trunk, pelvis and limbs, proprioce...

Pain during childbirth is considered by the pregnant woman the most concerning aspect they have to face during pregnancy. However, if we take into account the functions of pain during labor, we can say that pain is a necessary evil which can be ameliorated until it becomes bearable through specific methods and means. Anxiety and stress are very common during pregnancy, but not a good side effect of it. Pain is a big issue that pregnant women handle with, when arrive the big moment – the delivery. The aim of this study is to determine the role of directed or passive relaxation and breathing exercises on labor deployment. We also want to determine the relationship between these exercises, pain level and drugs administration. Methods. The study group consist of 70 pregnant women, in the third trimester, 35 from them having a relaxation and breathing exercises program. In order to asses the presence and the severity of anxiety and ...
