A agricultura irrigada no Brasil obteve significativo desenvolvimento no conhecimento do manejo a... more A agricultura irrigada no Brasil obteve significativo desenvolvimento no conhecimento do manejo agrícola e expressivos investimentos tecnológicos. Esse desenvolvimento tem intrínseca relação com os diversos programas governamentais desenvolvimentistas apresentados na segunda metade do século XX. Nessa conjuntura, algumas regiões no estado de Minas Gerais foram contempladas com projetos de irrigação e incentivos para incrementos agrícolas. É o caso do Norte de Minas Gerais, que se destaca no cenário agrícola por deter grandes projetos de irrigação. Além disso, a mesorregião do Norte de Minas Gerais apresenta expressiva rede hidrográfica inserida em três bacias hidrográficas federais. Entretanto, apesar de toda a ampliação da agricultura irrigada nacional e regional, questões pertinentes à utilização dos recursos hídricos suficiente para agricultura e a sua distribuição socialmente justa são atribuições conflitosas no âmbito agrícola. Over 3,000 yearly cases of Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) are reported in Brazil. Brazilian Public Health System provides universal free access to antileishmania therapeutic options: Meglumine Antimoniate, Amphotericin B deoxycholate, and Liposomal Amphotericin B. Even though Amphotericin formulations have been advised for severe disease, this recommendation is mostly based on the opinion of experts and on analogy with studies conducted in other countries. Presently, there are two ongoing multicenter clinical trials comparing the efficacy and safety of the available therapeutic options. Some other issues require further clarification, such as severity markers and the approach to VL/AIDS coinfection. Brazil is facing the challenge of providing access to diagnosis and adequate treatment, in order to avoid VL-related deaths. 1.

Para isso, trazemos os estudos feitos por Gonçalves (2007), ao pontuar o cordel como híbrido, cosmopolita e contemporâneo; Soares (2003) e Street(2014), na discussão sobre Letramento e escolarização; Paulo Freire (2005) e Carlo Ginzburg (1987), para discutirmos a cultura enquanto circular, porque partilha em si, uma rede de relações entre cultura erudita e cultura popular.Para isto, trabalharemos com o cordelista Antonio Barreto, que é professor da rede pública de ensino básico em Salvador, praticante e divulgador do Cordel como instrumento pedagógico. EnglishThis paper describes an analysis of 53 completions of course work (TCC) in Chemistry at th... more EnglishThis paper describes an analysis of 53 completions of course work (TCC) in Chemistry at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), concluded between 2005 and 2010, in an attempt to reveal the profile of the professionals graduated in this institution. The data analyzed show that although only a small part of the teaching staff of the chemistry institute participates as adviser in the TCCs, they are distributed among 4 of the 5 departments of the institute. The main subjects treated in the completions of course work are related to categories such as development of methodological proposals and teaching resources. The theoretical framework employed is based on concepts of Ausubel, Vygotsky and Freire. The methodology used was based on conceptual maps, experiments, games and quizzes. Most of the data were collected in high schools. The EsSalud Loreto Assistance Network does not have enough human capital, diagnostic and treatmen... more The EsSalud Loreto Assistance Network does not have enough human capital, diagnostic and treatment equipment, and infrastructure, to meet the demand of patients who arrive to recover their health. For this reason, patients must be referred to the city of Lima, to be treated in national hospitals such as Rebaglaiti Hospital, Almenara Hospital, among others, which have everything necessary for care, but are saturated. The cost of referencing a patient is very high, the cost of the air ticket being 50% of the total cost, since not only cover the cost of transportation of the patient but also, in some cases, the cost of the companion. O estudo destas situacoes e extremamente importante, visando a minimizacao de acidentes e a otimizacao dos processos. Grande parte das modelagens aplicadas a Engenharia Quimica sao descritas por EAD’s (equacoes algebrico-diferenciais – no ingles “DAE’s”). O objetivo deste trabalho e dar prosseguimento a integracao entre o simulador de processos EMSO (Environment for Modeling Simulation Optimization), desenvolvido pelo grupo de pesquisa, que e capaz de resolver EAD’s de indice elevado, e o software AUTO, que permite identificar as particularidades dos sistemas nao-lineares atraves da geracao de diagramas de bifurcacao. A study was undertaken wherein different fingermark developers were evaluated for the recovery of... more A study was undertaken wherein different fingermark developers were evaluated for the recovery of fingermarks from brass cartridge cases, besides the evaluation of factors such as firing effects and surface characterization of the cases. The latent fingermarks on α-brass plates, fired and unfired cartridge cases were deposited and aged for 1-14days before development with different developers. In order to mimic the fired cartridge case conditions, the brass plates were heated and examined at room temperature (RT), at 63 and at 200°C. The sequential treatment with cyanoacrylate, gun blue and fluorescent dye has been found to be the best among other developers for the recovery of latent fingermarks on brass surfaces including fired and unfired cartridge cases. Cartridge cases and other brass surfaces were also analyzed by surface characterization methods, including X-ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and metallographic examination. Two nutritional levels following parturition and five weaning ages for the calf were evaluated to... more Two nutritional levels following parturition and five weaning ages for the calf were evaluated to study their effect of reproduction in Gyr cows in the savannas of West Central Brazil (Campos Cerrados). Early weaning of calves reduced postpartum weight losses and shortened the postpartum interval to conception, Energy level did not affect cow weight at weaning or conception, the number of days from parturition to first estrus or the number of matings/ conception; however, the postpartum period to conception was reduced (116 vs 160 d; P<.05) for cows on the higher energy diet. Weaning age significantly affected postpartum weight loss in cows. Six months after calving, cows that nursed calves for 1 mo were 89 kg heavier than those that nursed calves for 6 mo (384 vs 295 kg; P<.05). Cows that were nursed for 1 mo returned to estrus at an average of 40 d postpartum, which was 23 d earlier (P<.05) than the average of the other groups nursed for longer periods of time. There was no significant difference in the postpartum period to conception among cows that had their calves weaned at 1 mo, 3 mo and cows which were nursed twice daily beginning 30 d after parturition (57, 94 and 97 d, respectively), but was less (P<.05) for cows nursed for 5 or 6 mo (212 and 231 d, respectively). The results show that Gyr cattle are genetically capable of responding reproductively to improve nutrition and reduced lactation stress achieved through early weaning or controlled nursing:

El objetivo es establecer las premisas necesarias para determinar los volumnes a ejecutar. El problema en si consiste en que los proyectos para un proyecto no constituyen un soporte confiable debido a que suuelen ser sobrepasados por los costos reales, lo que constituye un gasto adicional importante e inesperado.

Resumo: O principal objetivo desse estudo foi verificar e comparar o nível atual de desenvolvimen... more Resumo: O principal objetivo desse estudo foi verificar e comparar o nível atual de desenvolvimento das Habilidades Motoras Fundamentais, e buscar possíveis diferenças nos resultados, provavelmente, oriundos da diferença de oportunidade à prática. O presente estudo utilizou as técnicas da estatística descritiva e inferencial para comparação das médias, visando identificar diferenças entre as mesmas, tendo o teste ANOVA One-Way e TUKEY como base para estas análises. Os resultados apontaram diferenças significativas entre os grupos, sugerindo que um bom desempenho motor só é possível àqueles que acumulam consideráveis experiências de conhecimento e domínio sobre seu corpo e o meio e a sua interação neste contexto.

Recent increases in the incidence and severity of staphylococcal infections renewed interest in s... more Recent increases in the incidence and severity of staphylococcal infections renewed interest in studies that assess the burden of asymptomatic carriage of Staphylococcus aureus in the community setting. We conducted a population-based survey in the city of Botucatu, Brazil (122,000 inhabitants), in order to identify the prevalence of nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains). Nasal swabs were obtained from 686 persons over one year of age. Resistance to methicillin was assessed through phenotypic methods, identification of the mecA gene and typing of the Staphylococcal Chromosome Cassette mec (SCCmec). Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) isolates were characterized using Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE), Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) and spa typing. Polymerase chain reaction was applied to identify genes coding for Panton-Valentine Leukocidin (PVL) in isolates. The prevalence of overall S. aureus carriage was 32.7% (95%CI, 29.2%-36.2%). Carriers were significantly younger (mean age, 28.1 versus 36.3 for non-carriers; OR for age, 0.98; 95%CI, 0.97-0.99) and likely to report recent skin infection (OR, 1.85; 95%CI, 1.03-3.34). Carriage of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) was found in 0.9% of study subjects (95%CI, 0.4%-1.8%). All MRSA isolates harbored SCCmec type IV, and belonged to spa types t002 or t021, but none among them harbored genes coding for PLV. In MLST, most isolates belonged to clones ST5 or ST1776. However, we found one subject who carried a novel clone, ST2594. Two out of six MRSA carriers had household contacts colonized with isolates similar to theirs. Our study pointed to dissemination of community-associated MRSA among the Brazilian population.

Identification of predictors for HCW adherence to Influenza vaccination has challenged infection control committees. METHODS: Our group conducted a cross-sectional survey in December 2007, interviewing 125 HCWs from a teaching hospital to identify adherence predictors for Influenza vaccination. The outcomes of interest were: A - adherence to the 2007 vaccination campaign; B - adherence to at least three yearly campaigns in the past five years. Demographic and professional data were assessed through univariate and multivariate analysis. RESULTS: Of the HCWs interviewed, 43.2% were vaccinated against Influenza in 2007. Trata-se de um estudo sobre o desenvolvimento da Prática da Visita Domiciliar na estratégia de At... more Trata-se de um estudo sobre o desenvolvimento da Prática da Visita Domiciliar na estratégia de Atenção à Saúde Mental do Programa de Saúde da família (PSF). Os objetivos são: descrever o processo de atendimento domiciliar à saúde mental no contexto do PSF, baseando-se na literatura científica publicada; e discutir os aspectos que fundamentam e/ou interferem no cuidado domiciliar ao cliente que convive com transtornos mentais. Utilizou-se como método a revisão de literatura, que selecionou artigos, indexados às bases de dados internacionais, como material do estudo; a técnica analítica empregada foi a análise temática, à qual originou três categorias: o contexto da estratégia do acompanhamento domiciliar; participação familiar; e o preparo da equipe na abordagem ao paciente e sua família. Os resultados apontam para a integração dos princípios da Reforma Psiquiátrica com o Sistema Único de Saúde do Brasil (SUS) como ferramentas indispensáveis no cuidado a estes clientes, através do modelo psicossocial, integralidade da atenção, participação social, territorialidade e ações coletivas. O preparo profissional e a percepção vivencial dos doentes mentais em sua comunidade, obtida através do acompanhamento domiciliar, permitem a qualidade assistencial.

Sendo assim, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar a comodificacao (Fairclough, 2001) dos discursos sobre cultura, bem como refletir sobre o contexto de uso da palavra-chave cultura e sua relacao com o carnaval de Salvador. Foi delimitado um corpus de 22 textos publicados no mes de fevereiro de 2016 no site do jornal baiano Correio, atentando para o aparecimento da palavra-chave cultura. A categoria analitica utilizada foi, sobretudo, uma analise semântica da palavra, pensando na relacao entre seu contexto de uso e possiveis pressuposicoes ideologicas. Resistance to methicillin was assessed through phenotypic methods, identification of the mecA gene and typing of the Staphylococcal Chromosome Cassette mec (SCCmec). Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) isolates were characterized using Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE), Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) and spa typing. Polymerase chain reaction was applied to identify genes coding for Panton-Valentine Leukocidin (PVL) in isolates. The prevalence of overall S. aureus carriage was 32.7% (95%CI, 29.2%-36.2%). Carriers were significantly younger (mean age, 28.1 versus 36.3 for non-carriers; OR for age, 0.98; 95%CI, 0.97-0.99) and likely to report recent skin infection (OR, 1.85; 95%CI, 1.03-3.34). Carriage of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) was found in 0.9% of study subjects (95%CI, 0.4%-1.8%). All MRSA isolates harbored SCCmec type IV, and belonged to spa types t002 or t021, but none among them harbored genes coding for PLV. In MLST, most isolates belonged to clones ST5 or ST1776. However, we found one subject who carried a novel clone, ST2594. Two out of six MRSA carriers had household contacts colonized with isolates similar to theirs. Our study pointed to dissemination of community-associated MRSA among the Brazilian population.

Identification of predictors for HCW adherence to Influenza vaccination has challenged infection control committees. METHODS: Our group conducted a cross-sectional survey in December 2007, interviewing 125 HCWs from a teaching hospital to identify adherence predictors for Influenza vaccination. The outcomes of interest were: A - adherence to the 2007 vaccination campaign; B - adherence to at least three yearly campaigns in the past five years. Demographic and professional data were assessed through univariate and multivariate analysis. RESULTS: Of the HCWs interviewed, 43.2% were vaccinated against Influenza in 2007. Trata-se de um estudo sobre o desenvolvimento da Prática da Visita Domiciliar na estratégia de At... more Trata-se de um estudo sobre o desenvolvimento da Prática da Visita Domiciliar na estratégia de Atenção à Saúde Mental do Programa de Saúde da família (PSF). Os objetivos são: descrever o processo de atendimento domiciliar à saúde mental no contexto do PSF, baseando-se na literatura científica publicada; e discutir os aspectos que fundamentam e/ou interferem no cuidado domiciliar ao cliente que convive com transtornos mentais. Utilizou-se como método a revisão de literatura, que selecionou artigos, indexados às bases de dados internacionais, como material do estudo; a técnica analítica empregada foi a análise temática, à qual originou três categorias: o contexto da estratégia do acompanhamento domiciliar; participação familiar; e o preparo da equipe na abordagem ao paciente e sua família. Os resultados apontam para a integração dos princípios da Reforma Psiquiátrica com o Sistema Único de Saúde do Brasil (SUS) como ferramentas indispensáveis no cuidado a estes clientes, através do modelo psicossocial, integralidade da atenção, participação social, territorialidade e ações coletivas. O preparo profissional e a percepção vivencial dos doentes mentais em sua comunidade, obtida através do acompanhamento domiciliar, permitem a qualidade assistencial.

Sendo assim, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar a comodificacao (Fairclough, 2001) dos discursos sobre cultura, bem como refletir sobre o contexto de uso da palavra-chave cultura e sua relacao com o carnaval de Salvador. Foi delimitado um corpus de 22 textos publicados no mes de fevereiro de 2016 no site do jornal baiano Correio, atentando para o aparecimento da palavra-chave cultura. A categoria analitica utilizada foi, sobretudo, uma analise semântica da palavra, pensando na relacao entre seu contexto de uso e possiveis pressuposicoes ideologicas.
