In this study on business education, argument mapping was demonstrated as an effective methodology to assess student learning and conceptualization of a business and as a useful classroom activity to present a business problem and have students develop business solutions, as individuals or in groups. The paper describes classroom-based evidence from an introductory business course, in which students developed an argument map and then shared their work to stimulate discussion about the business problem/argument to be solved and appr...

One of the solutions that the literature suggested is to encourage college graduate students to start their own businesses. The focus of our research is on Entrepreneurship Education (EE) and the purpose of the study was to examine students ‘attitude in relation to entrepreneurship education. This paper incorporates data gathered using the EAO (Entrepreneurial Attitudes Orientation), at the beginning and end of a hybrid-formatted entrepreneurship course, taken by students with varying degrees of interest in starting and running a business or becoming an entrepreneur. The EAO tool included questions that assess achievement, innovation, personal control and self-esteem. Our research provided a useful approach for assessing student learning outcomes in entrepreneurship education and encourages the development of “cultification” that would include innovative...

family structure includes a biological mother and father, and one or more children. However, many families
today can include, one parent or two same sex parents in addition to the traditional family model. Furthermore,
there are more families than ever before that choose to adopt a child. Unlike having a biological child, adopting
a child can, and usually does, take longer than nine months. Families are growing, but the dynamic is constantly
changing. The United States Federal Government last changed its law on parental leave in 1993, which does not
correlate with the changed American family. The 1993 Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows parents,
usually only mothers, to take twelve weeks of unpaid family or medical leave each year. The FMLA does not
guarantee paid leave, and in many cases, parents are denied leave from work. The United States Federal
Government needs to adapt the FMLA to the new family dynamic, but also include paid leave time for new
parents.

Despite the fact that younger workers are more productive and less costly, they are typically the employees who are most likely to be laid-off. The problematic issue of age discrimination is a global matter; therefore an analysis on this public issue is a necessity. When addressing this issue, people tend to think that only older workers are being discriminated in the workplace. This paper focuses on understanding the perception of young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 about age discrimination in the workplace. A survey was shared through social media and 65 responses were retained. Data gathered were qualitatively analyzed from a sample population of young adult workers. The main focus of the paper is to understand the perception of young adults about age discrimination. Workable solutions were also suggested based on the survey results.

This study identifies the perspectives of Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates at a small
private university in the eastern U.S. Fifteen interviews were conducted after distributing flyers among MBA classes and interested students volunteered to participate. The study was qualitative, based on personal interviews, to explore how loyalty is perceived in relation to performance. The theoretical framework used was Hogan's (1983) socioanalytic theory to explain differences in people’s performance at work. Through use of a grounded theory approach, employees’ perceptions on loyalty as a component of employee performance evaluation inducted to a theoretical model. This research shows, for the first time, loyalty as an expectation of performance from the perspective of individuals preparing to be future managers. The model explains the interrelationship between the suggested dimensions inducted from participants’ perceptions for the purpose to assess both company and employee loyalty. The theoretical model demonstrates that a balance is needed to build a loyalty base between the company and employee loyalty that will lead to better performance. Specifically, respondents identified components of loyalty in the dimensions of integrity, flexibility, transparency support, dedication, conscientiousness, accountability, and advocacy. The model supports intuitive recognition that management behavior that creates employee loyalty also improves employee performance. The theoretical model can be used by researchers and human resource professionals to shape their quantitative research and organizational policies.
