In this paper, we consider an inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with price sensitive demand, time varying deterioration rate under two-level trade credit policy. Besides, to reduce deterioration rate, retailers invest some cost to prevent product degradation/decay, known as preservation technology, is also inserted. Consumption of such items within shelf life prevents to deterioration, which can be achieved by bulk sale. In order to stimulate the selling, trade-credit policy is also considered here. In the sequel, not only the supplier would offer fixed credit period to the retailer, but retailer also adopt the trade credit policy to the customers in order to promote the market competition. The retailer can accumulate revenue and i...

Moreover, transition metal-free synthesis of enantiopure molecules in water will have a great deal of attention as the system will mimic the natural enzymatic reactions. In this work, a new set of proline-derived hydrophobic organocatalysts have been synthesized and utilized for asymmetric Michael reactions in water as the sole reaction medium. Among the various catalysts screened, the catalyst 1 is indeed efficient for stereoselective 1,4-conjugated Michael additions (dr: >97:3, ee up to >99.9%) resulting in high chemical yields (up to 95%) in a very short reaction time (1 h) at room temperature. This methodology provides a robust, green, and convenient protocol and can thus be an important addition to the arsenal of the asymmetric Michael addition reaction. Upon successful implementation, the present strategy also led to the formation of an optically active octahydroindole, the key component found in many natural products.

In today's competitive business situation, the supplier frequently offers his or her retailers a ... more In today's competitive business situation, the supplier frequently offers his or her retailers a permissible delay period to stimulate sales. In addition, the capacity of any warehouse is limited in practice, thus the retailer needs an additional rented warehouse to store the excess units when the order quantity exceeds the capacity of the own warehouse. Furthermore, with the globalization of the marketing policy, the supplier may provide the retailer a discounted price if the quantity of purchase is large enough. Green inventory management reduces the environmental impacts of a business without lacking its profit. Considering all of the factors mentioned above, in this paper we study a green economic order quantity model with capacity constraint under order-size dependent trade credit and all-units discount along with minimizing carbon for a cleaner environment. The paper discusses all the potential cases, which may occur in green inventory models with carbon emission cost under different allowable delay-in-payments. Shortages are allowed and partially backordered. The major objective is to determine the sustainable optimal ordering strategies for retailers, and whether the retailer needs an additional rented warehouse such that the retailer's annual profit is maximized. First, we prove that the conditions of the objective functions have interior minimizer value and the closed-form optimal solution is found. Next, an algorithm is developed to determining the global optimal solution of the problem. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to illustrate theoretical results. Sensitivity analysis of the major parameters is performed and some insights are obtained.

Results of the investigations suggest that some of the catalysts are indeed efficient for stereoselective 1,4-conjugated Michael additions (dr: >97:3, ee up to 99%) in high chemical yields (up to 97%) often in short reaction time. As an extension, one enantiopure Michael adduct has been utilized to synthesize optically active octahydroindole. Molecular chirality shows immense importance in modern pharmaceutical industry. It is widely known in the literature that biological activity, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity of enantiomers differ significantly. 1 As an example, the case of thalidomide 2 whose enantiomers differ dangerously in pharmacological effect, emphasizes the importance of addressing stereochemistry in drug development. Usually, one particular optically active form of enantiomer is predominant in nature. Similarly, for synthetic chiral drug substances, since one of the enantiomers demonstrates the desired physiological effect, it is desirable to identify new synthetic

These catalysts were found to be useful for asymmetric Michael additions of ketones to nitroolefins to afford the desired products in very good yields (up to 98%) with excellent diastereo-and enantioselectivities (>97:3 syn/anti and up to 98% ee) in very short reaction time compared with the existing reports.

Research paper thumbnail of Optimization of mixing parameters through a water model for metal matrix composites synthesis

The influence of the mixing parameters on the synthesis of Al-SiC p reinforced metal matrix compo... more The influence of the mixing parameters on the synthesis of Al-SiC p reinforced metal matrix composites (MMCs) by the stir casting technique is investigated through a water model. The effects of some important mixing parameters such as impeller blade angle, rotating speed, direction of impeller rotation and effect of baffles are investigated and optimized. The results have shown that the axial concentration variation of natural graphite during stirring in the presence of four vertical baffles is 1.0 wt% against in the absence of baffles it is increased to 2.3 wt%. The variations observed in natural graphite concentration in water during mixing are in close agreement with the earlier modeling and limited experimental studies reported on the real molten aluminum-SiC system. Semi-empirical correlations arrived at between the dimensionless numbers for stirred water-natural graphite slurries are Po = Re À0.0545 Fr À1.099 and Po = Re À0.0219 Fr À1.0382 for clockwise and counter clockwise rotation respectively.
