"How God, Moses, and Comet Halley Freed Hebrew Slaves in Egypt" shows that Comet Halley and Thera... more "How God, Moses, and Comet Halley Freed Hebrew Slaves in Egypt" shows that Comet Halley and Thera Volcano played major roles in the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. In that report, Comet Halley is identified as the angel of God, while the volcano was the source of tidal waves that sent walls of water into the Sea of Reeds. The role of comet and volcano in Old Testament accounts of the exile of Jews from Jerusalem to Babylon in the 6th Century B.C. are now studied. In spite of finding no direct description of Comet Halley in these accounts, there is convincing circumstantial evidence that the comet played an important role in Jeremiah’s prophecy of the exile. At the same time, Thera Volcano appears to be the source of the windstorm seen by Ezekiel as the basis for his vision.

The salvation of their nation coincided with the appearance of the angel of God. This study compares the angel in the Old Testament book of 2 Kings with Comet Halley in 690 B.C. and concludes they are the same. The arrival of Comet Halley coincided with a plague that caused Sennacherib to withdraw his army. This miraculous appearance in 690 B.C. saved Jerusalem from destruction and qualifies Comet Halley as an angel.

The angel of the Lord told David to build an altar on the threshing floor of Araunah on Mount Moriah. When David called upon the Lord, he was answered with “fire from Heaven.” This paper provides evidence that the angel of the Lord who sent “fire from heaven” was Comet Halley during its appearance in 986/5 B.C. Furthermore, the Star of David, a symbol for Israel, is based on a star pattern from the region of the Winter Hexagon constellation where Comet Halley is first seen.

This date is more than eleven years earlier than the traditional date, and it implies his death was earlier than 30 A.D. Since Jesus reached nearly 30 years of age, he would have died about 19 A.D. Surprisingly, historical information has been found to verify these criteria and to support the conclusion that Jesus was crucified on April 7, 19 A.D.

Once the star is recognized as an angel, it becomes logical to believe that it is Comet Halley, which was the pillar of light seen during the Exodus from Egypt. Comet Halley can then be shown to be the Star of Bethlehem, and the conclusion is reached that Jesus was born either during, or close to, the first half of October, 12 B.C.

The basis for this was discussed in How, God, Moses and Comet Halley Freed Hebrew Slaves in Egypt1 and in Mount Sinai: A Sheep Pasture near Petra, Jordan2. The commander of the Lord’s army in Joshua 5:13-15 is shown to be the angel of God that appeared during the Exodus. Knowledge of Comet Halley is used to establish that the fall of Jericho occurred in August 1334 BC, which is 70 years after the Hebrews left Egypt. This disagrees with the 40 years stated in Joshua.

A short time after the fall of Jericho the “sun stood still” for a full day (Joshua 10). The best explanation for this astonishing event is a solar eclipse during a violent hailstorm. When a search is made for a solar eclipse at Gibeon after 1334 BC, one finds an eclipse on October 17, 1328 BC. This eclipse appears to define the “day the sun stood still.”

After crucifixion, Jesus’ body was wrapped in cloth, sealed in a tomb, and then reported to have disappeared. Both disappearance of his body and formation of an image on cloth appear impossible. For this study disappearance of the body is accepted as fact, leaving only the image to be explained. The assumption is made that an interface opened to a higher dimensionality to swallow the body, while leaving behind void populated by electrons and photons. A Free Electron Model of Image Formation is proposed to explain how this image might have been created. Free electrons are postulated to have created charged layers in front of interfaces that pushed electrons to high enough energy to create an image. The image created by this theoretical reconstruction appears fully consistent with the actual image. This leads to the conclusion that the body must really have disappeared.

Its connection to Comet Halley is now developed using modern knowledge of the comet to identify the path taken by the Israelites to Mount Sinai. This study examines the importance of Comet Halley to their belief that God could be found on Mount Sinai (aka Mount Seir). An understanding of their belief requires knowing what they saw and how they interpreted it. Following this logic, the location of Mount Sinai is found to be a high point in the Shara Mountains east of Petra, Jordan. At the time of Moses this location was a pasture for sheep. Today radio towers are located there.

This paper synthesizes the biblical account, historic knowledge, mythology, information about Thera Volcano, and astronomy into a detailed narrative of what happened. Identification of the “angel of God” as Comet Halley allows the conclusion that this angel passed over Egypt in the role of Angel of Death during a full moon on the night of September 3, 1404 BC. This was followed days later by a colossal eruption of Thera Volcano that created a tidal wave in the Mediterranean Sea. This great wave came ashore on the Nile Delta as a wall of water that flowed into the Wadi Tumilat and continued to the Serapeum Plateau where a large group of Israelites were waiting in anticipation of the imminent arrival of Pharaoh’s army. The army intended to return them to their former slavery. Before reaching the plateau, the advancing water divided into two walls that rushed past on opposite sides, leaving the Israelites on an island in a vast sea. Pharaoh’s army was in the Sea of Reeds advancing towards the plateau when it was destroyed. As water receded, the Israelites walked off the plateau across the east channel and continued their march to Mount Sinai.

Today the only credible physical evidence of this amazing event is the Shroud of Turin, which many people believe was Jesus’ actual burial cloth. This cloth contains front and back full length body images that many researchers agree are of a real man. This report is a theoretical study of how the image on the Shroud of Turin might have been created. Our present knowledge of science does not explain disappearance of a dead body, so this discussion accepts its disappearance as fact. Once past this conundrum, a Free Electron Model of Image Formation is proposed to explain how an image of a man might have been created on linen cloth, assuming only that a body disappeared while wrapped in it. This model proposes that an interface opened between our world and a higher dimensionality to swallow the body, while leaving behind void populated by electrons and photons that created an image on cloth. This study concludes that the body’s disappearance is consistent with transfer to a higher dimensionality.

Destruction of the city by a tidal wave generated by the Thera Volcano occurred on September 7, 1404 BC (Julian calendar). Plato's description is found to be remarkably accurate. Surprisingly, there lies at the center of the city a very large carving of the head of Poseidon that is unrecognizable from the ground, but easy to discern from a high elevation. The canals described by Plato are easily seen.
