The aim of this paper was to systematically review the available clinical researches of homeopathy in the said conditions. Content Relevant trials published between Jan 1, 1981 and Dec 31, 2016 (with further extension up to Dec 31, 2017) was identified through a comprehensive search. Internal validity of the randomized trials and observational studies was assessed by The Cochrane Collaboration’s tool and methodological index for non-randomized studies (MINORS) criteria respectively, homeopathic model validity by Mathie’s six judgmental domains, and quality of homeopathic individualization by Saha’s criteria. Summary Four controlled (three randomized and one sequentially allocated controlled trial) trials were reviewed and 14 observational studies alongside – all demonstrated positive effect of homeopathy. Major focus areas were benign prostatic hypertrophy and renal stones. One of the four...

Global warming with consequent increase in vector population may accentuate the occurrence of the disease in near future. There is no effective medicine against the disease and vaccination of rural poor population and pig population in a wide endemic zone appears not practicable. Thus we have to venture all possible sources to find out a remedy against this disease. In this experiment suckling mice of "Belladonna 200" fed mothers were challenged with virulent Nakayama strain of Japanese encephalitis virus and statistical analysis of the results indicated a protective role of this medicine when compared with controls. A hypothetic pathway of its action mediated by calystegines involving envelope glycoproteins, synthesis of amino acid residues of E protein and Jak-Stat signaling cascades has been proposed.

Homeopathy has a major role in the treatment of depressive disorders. Homeopathic treatment takes personality and temperament of the patient into consideration for selection of medicine. As such it believes in the concept of individualization, thereby each patient suffering from depression may require a similimum, different from other patient. Three cases of depressive disorders treated by Nux vomica are presented. All the cases were improved; analysis was done by Hamilton depression rating scale.

Homoeopathy, being an integral part of health care delivery system in India and many other countries, goes no exception to it. Both teaching and research are inter-related, dependent and complementary to each other. Without quality teaching, research is like learning without curiosity, or like cataract surgery without restoring visual equity, or like studying Materia Medica without knowledge in Organon of Medicine. Similarly, sans high standard research, teaching in any medical discipline is like searching without direction, or like operating upon a human subject without knowing anatomy. In spite of the fact that some of the teaching institutions have taken up research projects and the outcomes of such research studies have been published in reputed medical journals, yet the quality of such articles needs further improvement. Many homoeopathy research organisations as well as the researchers, on certain aspects, h...

A patient reported with symptoms of profuse menses with pain in lower abdomen radiating downwards for the last two years. The ultrasonography of abdomen revealed a posterior wall uterine myoma of size 1.2cm x 1.2cm. After case taking and repertorization Sepia 30 was prescribed initially and later Sepia 200 was prescribed. Overall improvement was noticed clinically and complete resolution of uterine myoma was seen in ultrasonography report after eight weeks of homoeopathic treatment. This case is presented here to show the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicine selected on constitutional basis in the treatment of uterine fibroid.

Influenza is a common disease, widespread all over the world, that has no satisfactory treatment ... more Influenza is a common disease, widespread all over the world, that has no satisfactory treatment up to now. Homeopathy has a long tradition of being used to treat influenza and has accumulated empirical and experimental evidence showing positive effects. Large scale observational studies in different continents have never been carried out to assess the overall benefits of homeopathy in flu, what prescription strategy and medicines are more effective and for which group of patients it can be most helpful. On the other hand, there is a predicted pandemic of avian flu and it is important to be proactive and to be prepared to test homeopathy in this context. This worldwide study will collect observational data on patients with influenza or influenza-like illness treated with homeopathic by experienced homeopathic doctors during a period of 2 years. Measurements will include duration of influenza illness, change in total score of symptoms and clinical scales, as well as safety aspects (presence of adverse effects and complications). Homeopathic and any conventional medicines prescribed will be registered. Data will be entered and loaded in a web application, and will be statistically analyzed using descriptive and inferential techniques. Ethical approval will be sought, and all cases are to be submitted in an anonymous way to protect patient identity. This project aims to enable collection of useful data, together with the development of information technology infrastructure, that could be useful in future multi-centre randomized controlled trials in the treatment of influenza patients with homeopathy, besides testing a new strategy for accumulating evidence on the benefit of homeopathic treatment in other diseases and conditions.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of this training program based on train the trainer modality. Materials and Methods: Ten primary participants were enrolled in each one day and two day training program. Both the groups were instructed to impart further training to 10 participants each. The knowledge of and attitudes toward HIV/AIDS were measured in primary participants before and immediately after training and at the end of 3 months and in secondary participants before and immediately after training by a 21-item questionnaire. Results: In 1-day group, the pre-training and post-training assessments were completed by all the 10 participants, where as the 3 month assessment was completed by only seven participants. In this group, mean overall knowledge score was 15.9 which increased to 17 post training and reduced to 16.7, 3 months post training. In 2-day group, the pre-training and post training assessments were completed by 10 participants, where as the 3 month assessment was completed by nine participants. In this group, the pre-training score of 17.4 increased to 19.8 immediately after training and decreased to 18.4, 3 months after training. From the 1-day group and two day group, seven and nine participants respectively, conducted secondary trainings. In case of secondary trainees, the cognitive knowledge scores showed a statistically significant difference before and after trainings in both the groups. Conclusion: The training module on HIV/AIDS was useful in enhancing the knowledge of physicians of Homoeopathy and Ayurveda on cognitive and transmission related aspects of the disease and on its ethical, social and legal implications. With such training programs the homoeopathic and ayurvedic practitioners can play a vital role in prevention of HIV infection by undertaking appropriate patient education and counselling

Materials and Methods: A cluster-randomised, double-blind, placebo -controlled trial was conducted in Kerala for prevention of chikungunya during the epidemic outbreak in August-September 2007 in three panchayats of two districts. Bryonia alba 30C/placebo was randomly administered to 167 clusters (Bryonia alba 30C = 84 clusters; placebo = 83 clusters) out of which data of 158 clusters was analyzed (Bryonia alba 30C = 82 clusters; placebo = 76 clusters) . Healthy participants (absence of fever and arthralgia) were eligible for the study (Bryonia alba 30 C n = 19750; placebo n = 18479). Weekly follow-up was done for 35 days. Infection rate in the study groups was analysed and compared by use of cluster analysis. Results: The findings showed that 2525 out of 19750 persons of Bryonia alba 30 C group suffered from chikungunya, compared to 2919 out of 18479 in placebo group. Cluster analysis showed significant difference between the two groups [rate ratio = 0.76 (95% CI 0.14 -5.57), P value = 0.03]. The result reflects a 19.76% relative risk reduction by Bryonia alba 30C as compared to placebo. Conclusion: Bryonia alba 30C as genus epidemicus was better than placebo in decreasing the incidence of chikungunya in Kerala. The efficacy of genus epidemicus needs to be replicated in different epidemic settings.
