It can generate electricity in a low head of range (0.7-2m). This system is very simple and requires less keep-up. This research aims to develop the propeller type runner which gives optimum efficiency and cylindrical basin suitable for this propeller runner in GWVPP. The research has been conducted by developing a new propeller runner and cylindrical basin considering the top surface open as the atmosphere. Blade angle, discharge hole diameter of the basin, the position of runner, and rpm are optimized on CFD-based optimization. After the CFD analysis, the optimum blade angle was 43º, exit hole diameter of this basin was found 175 mm which is 20% of the basin diameter. The optimum height was found 785mm which is 65.42% of the total height. And the efficiency of the optimized system was 23.639 % at 40 rpm.

Starting from literature review, the research team carried out the design and solid modeling of proposed wheelchair. Solidworks software was used to make the computer model. The wheelchair frame comprised of a chair like frame with two pairs of wheels on front and back. The defined electric wheelchair is completed with the coordination of manual and electric system. A pair of electric motor is fitted on wheels at backside which are controlled by the electronic controller powered by the battery. The folding mechanism developed on the wheelchair was aimed for ease of transport and storage. The frame material was selected to be aluminum alloy. Lithium ion battery and geared electric motors were used in the prototype and motion control was done by joystick. Locking mechanism was used for frame locking during operation. The prototype was subjected to different tests. The unfolded...

In context of 3DP's application in developing countries, Nepal is at an early stage. This paper presents a brief review of 3DP technology and case study conducted through survey on application of 3DP in Nepalese environment. The research showed presently professional and research based organization holds higher coverage among 40 different organizations spread over seven districts of the country. Though the technology is in use since 2011, it was found increasing from 2015 only. Product examples of 3DP application in Nepal were found more concerned to medical consumables and student project components. The findings of research are discussed plotting different graphs and moreover concluded with brief opportunity and challenges of using 3DP in Nepal.

Literature review was the starting point of research and detailed design parameters for the turbine dimensions and materials were selected taking feasibility of fabrication and testing in hand. The testing was proposed on real site of Bagmati river at Kupandole, Lalitpur, Nepal where the turbine was subjected to fuse reeflowing water from the head of 1.3m and flowrate of 78 LPS that taken as site parameter. The 3D model for the turbine was developed in CATIA. For turbine height of 0.77m and runner minor diameter of 0.152m, simulations were carried out to find the most feasible number of blades, blade width, blade spacing, number of guide vanes and guide vane spacing using ANSYS simulation. Among the simulation the best arrangement was blade radial width of 62 mm, blade spacing of 54mm, guide vane spacing of 36.5 mm, ...

Necessary design parameters were determined after desk study and literature review. The currently working AIDFI pump was studied and a new pump of same size was developed so as to introduce water recirculation system. To aid the statement of increase in volumetric efficiency of the pump, 1” model pump was built along with test system and test was carried out. Then with necessary altercations, 3” mild steel pump was fabricated and tested in Jharuwarashi-Badegaun, Lalitpur. The result showed that around 1.48% increased efficiency at around 57.17% of inlet flow rate by introduction of recirculation system and similarly the result obtained at other inlet flowrates showcased the feasibility and improvement in efficiencies by the addition of recirculation system.

The study shows that the conical basin structure have 75% efficiency which is about twice more efficiency than the cylindrical basin structure. The past experimental study on three profiles of runners for GWVPP also shows that the runner having curved profile is more efficient than straight profile. Hence the gravitational water vortex power plant is now in the final stage of commercialization in Nepal. So this study encompass the economic feasibility study of the optimized conical basin and runner for the GWVPP in context of Nepal and the economic aspect of conical basin structure is compared with the ec...
