Unstable objects can be found in many industrial sectors, such as chemical industries or service areas. Due to the deficit in methods of their manipulations and investigations of the related effects has motivated the present study. 30 subjects (15 male, 15 female) participated in this experiment. The physical human responses were measured using (a) self-paced Hand Motion Time, (b) Range of Motion of the trunk, shoulder, and elbow, (c) muscular strain of selected muscle groups in the shoulder, arm, and trunk. The mental workload is measured by subjective assessment, of the unstable moved object. The results of the statistical tests prove that there is an effect of the liquid level and target position on the physical and mental level of the locomotion system. Direction of movement (motion-phase) presents a significant influence on the Range of Motion, the muscular activity and the Hand Motion Time. These results can be applied to evaluate, and develop products for workplaces, where the reduction of musculoskeletal injuries plays an important role.

A total of 70 subjects were recruited in the study. In addition to the NFT level (high score group and low score group) was evaluated, handcraft materials (wood, glass, pottery, plastic and metal) and material colors (red and yellow) were studied in the experiment. The dependent variables including the willingness of touch, preference and 16 pairs of opposite adjectives for sense of sight were measured by questionnaire interview. The study results showed that the effect of NFT affect significantly willingness of touch (p<0.001), preference (p<0.01) and the sense of warm-cold (p<0.05). All measures were affected significantly by handcraft material effect (p<0.05). On the other hand, 11 pairs of opposite adjectives are affected significantly by material color factor. The results of regression equations showed that the willingness of touch was mainly affected by subjective preference. Moreover, the subjective preference was mainly affected by the rating of beauty for product. Therefore, the subjective preference increased for a product was followed the rating of beauty and then the willing of touch was increased. The findings of this study can give an insight into the motivation of touch, and further provide some guidelines and recommendations about the product design and selling method to increase the competitive advantage of product.

Twenty subjects including ten males and ten females participated in this study. Each subject completed four treatment combinations with four different inner pieces of clothing (i.e., 100% cotton, 70% cotton + 30% polyester, 65% polyester + 35% cotton, 100% polyester). The dependent measures included moisture absorption, skin temperature, and subjective responses in three body regions. The results indicate that wearing 100% polyester inner clothing caused a significant increase in inner microclimate relative humidity (RH; p < .01). Wearing 100% cotton inner clothing caused a significant increase in both inner microclimate RH (p < .01) and the inner clothing's moisture absorption. This was due to cotton fiber tends to trap more water molecules and allow less water vapor to pass through as compared to other types of fiber. Furthermore, wearing the blended fiber inner clothing caused lower RH in the inner and outer clothing microclimate (p < .05). Moreover, wearing 65% polyester + 35% cotton inner clothing had higher subjective comfort than did wearing 70% cotton + 30% polyester. In summary, the moisture absorption and water vapor transport characteristics of the inner clothing are the major factors affecting the comfort of wearing double-layer clothing.

Twenty subjects participated in the experiment. Two display types (a 32-in CRT display and a 32-in plasma display), two different play-rest schedules (10 min play with 5 min rest, repeated four times; 20 min play with 10 min rest, repeated two times) and two Nintendo ''Wii Sports'' games (boxing and tennis) were used for evaluation. The study results showed that the display and game type had a significant effect on all the measurements. The use of a plasma display to play video games improved the critical flicker fusion (CFF) frequency threshold; however, it also caused a greater subjective eyefatigue rating, increased heart rate, as well as higher mental workload. Subjects with a 5-min break for every 10 min played had a lower subjective eye-fatigue rating, heart rate and mental workload than with a 10-min break for every 20 min played. The gender effect was not significant on any of the measurements. Implications of the results regarding video-game playing are discussed in terms of display and game type. Playing video games with frequent short breaks is suggested for reducing visual fatigue, especially for intensive video games.

Fifty university students participated and performed three visuospatial short-term memory tests and three visuospatial ability tests by using both types of display media. The display medium substantially affected all of the measured variables (p < 0.01). On average, the paper-pencil test scores of the visuospatial short-term memory tests were about 10% higher and the answer time was about 20% shorter than those of the PC tablet tests. The average paper-pencil test score of the visuospatial ability tests was about 35% higher than the average test score of the PC tablet test. The visuospatial performance was substantially decreased under the PC tablet condition compared with that under the pencil-paper condition. In addition, visual fatigue was greater when participants used the PC tablet than when they used a pencil and paper.

A repeated-measures experiment design was employed. The three independent factors were sex of user, handle (four types), and blade length (130, 170, and 210 mm). The dependent measures were the maximum supination torque under a static task and the %MVC of EMG responses in biceps brachii and flexor digitorum, and a discomfort rating for the upper extremity under the dynamic task. Analysis showed that the in-line screwdriver with the combined characteristics of large handle diameter (3.8-4.1 cm), smooth rubber covering handle surface, triangular (or circular) shape, and adequate handle length (11 cm) had the greatest supination torque and a smaller discomfort rating than the screwdriver with the pistol-grip handle. Blade length was not significantly related to any dependent measure.

The independent variable included the manner of visiting (visiting the exhibition or watching photographs in the exhibition hall) and theme display zone (the entrance, living room, dining room, bedroom, children's room, and the creel (Sanku) lamp). This research asked three major questions regarding each display zone (the feeling and process of visiting, evaluation of the displayed items, and the overall feeling of the display zones). 156 questionnaires were collected for analysis. The result indicated that the scores of four questions regarding the visiting of the display were higher than that of watching the photographs. The questions of "works and fashion" and "intentions of decorating the living place with the displayed items" scored significantly higher in the group of photograph watching. Regarding the feeling of the display zone's theme, there was only one question-"feel like sleeping" showed to have significant difference. In the section of the evaluation of the displayed items, there were five questions; overall feeling of the exhibition zones, three questions. Among them, the question concerning the interaction of the manner of visiting and the theme zone's theme showed to have significant impact on the question of "exciting". Finally, this research suggests that it is better to include the close-up photographs in the pamphlet of the displayed items in an exhibition. Concerning the materials and styles of the displayed items in the display zones should be consistent to offer visitors marvelous and consistent experiences. In addition, when providing the photographs to people that are unable to visit the exhibition in person, it is better to accompany those photos with music or samples of the displayed items to give them audio and tactile experiences to promote their satisfaction.

In the present study, rational and emotional adjectives were extracted from literature review, and the chairs, more than a hundred years old, were used as product samples to create questions for the pretest, ultimately, there were 24 converged questions. 15 chairs were used to develop the norm for the official testing. 292 valid questionnaires were conducted. Results showed: academic major was the only variable that produced significant difference out of the three variables in the participants. Chairs that bring on emotional cognition had higher overall assessments than those with rational construct. The aesthetic condition is the form that makes the consumer feel safe and comfortable, while using material features to produce elegant, intricate, and holistic forms; forms that approximate the human posture are more likely to be emotionally cognized.

During the process of examining defects on a screen for a certain period of time, SEM inspectors frequently complain about visual fatigue problems. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of wafer-coating condition (noncoating treatment and gold-coating treatment) and liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor size (14-inch and 19-inch monitor) from the aspects of objective visual fatigue measures (NPA and CFF), subjective eye fatigue rating, and inspection performance. Twelve SEM inspectors participated in this experiment. The results indicated that the treatment of gold-coating wafer showed significant difference on reducing objective visual fatigue in NPA and CFF change. Using a 19-inch LCD monitor also demonstrated the effect on reducing eye fatigue as well as improving inspection performance. The improvement of using a gold-coating treatment wafer and a 19-inch LCD monitor to reduce SEM inspectors' visual fatigue and to increase inspection performance is thus recommended.
