La caresse d'un papillon dans l'espace A Lucio Fontana tenant une fleur devant une Fine di Dio lo... more La caresse d'un papillon dans l'espace A Lucio Fontana tenant une fleur devant une Fine di Dio lors de son exposition « Les OEufs célestes », galerie Iris Clert, Paris, 1964. Photographie Harry Shunk. 265 analyse précise de la terminologie des oeuvres permet de comprendre le rapport de Fontana à ses créations. Même si ses peintures et sculptures portent à partir de 1949 le titre générique de Concetto spaziale, annihilant toute idée d'un genre spécifique (peinture, sculpture) et toute figuration, l'artiste distingue plusieurs séries qu'il nomme de manière descriptive : Trous, Fentes, Boules (pour la série Nature), OEufs (pour la série La fine di Dio [La Fin de Dieu])

He was then known for works that I would qualify as gestural conceptualism: drawings made "blindly" by folding paper in total obscurity or letting snails run on paper. I was also very interested in his videos that captured with high intensity the small, yet dramatic sounds of fire, wind, or an upcoming storm.

Although known for his slashed canvases and as a pioneer of spatial environments, Fontana was a sculptor by family tradition, education, and career.
