We state that to succeed with this the self-reflectiveness is a necessary component. The purpose of this paper is therefore to consider EE and self-reflectiveness from the student perspective. We look at self-reflectiveness in action. More specifically we study how self-assessment through a reflective task using video clips can trigger and activate entrepreneurial thinking and learning about entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship among BA students in Denmark and Finland. The preliminary findings show that video-clips seem to be a successful way to reveal and trigger reflectiveness among the students. Furthermore, the reflections seem to trigger deeper insights as well as learning and reflection upon and about the entrepreneurial mindset a...

As part of the project Arcada has decided to develop the work placement learning for students, co-workers, degree programs and the work life partners. Placements are important and a mandatory part of the studies in the university. However, the learnings and the possibilities are not always fully utilized. There could be more sharing and learning and work placements can bring information that helps developing the education per se. It can be a two way learning process. This article is about discussing how we can develop and utilize the work place learning through student' work placement blogs and podcasts. It is a discussion of the current status of the placement learning and a comparative insight into the newly developed and piloted model using blogging and podcast. At Arcada the aim with the project initiative was among other thing...

In order to contribute to educational leadership research in this field, this article articulates a theoretical position and reports empirical findings on HE rectors’ educational leadership in Finland as perceived by the rectors themselves. More specifically, the aim is to analyze how educational leadership is constituted and acted out by these higher education leaders. By focusing policy enactment as a critical mediating practice, the activities of the HE rectors are conceptualized as discursive in nature (Schmidt, 2008; Uljens & Ylimaki, 2015). Further, the study is based on non-affirmative education theory (Benner, 1991; Uljens 2002).

However, this influence has not always been a positive. Traditional business schools focused on economic/financial variables as the primary (only) consideration which has had a harmful impact on students' ethical development (Lopez-Navarro & Cipres, 2015). Recently business schools reevaluated their role in ethical education. LopezNavarro & Cipres (2015 at 320) argued "Higher education institutions influence the perception that students have of companies and their responsibilities to society." Education's impact cannot be overstated. The current project examined stakeholder ethical development in Finland. Culturally, Finland is rather unique. Their ethnic makeup is nearly homogeneous (Niemi, Kuusisto, and Kallioniemi, 2014). In Finland, one of the strong socialization forces is the Lutheran Church, which historically was monolithic, and now ...

In the current project, we surveyed two distinct sets of students in the spring of 2012 (n=74), and in the spring of 2014 (n=119). We found that the students studied less than 9 hours per week. We found significant differences between students' study habits based on several demographic factors, including gender, tobacco use, marital status, being employed, and major. We conclude by discussing the implications for further research in this area. Introduction Much to the dismay of professors, college students do not study very much. Research has found that American students spend more time watching television than studying (Nonis, Philhours, & Hudson, 2006). Is this shortage of study hours a uniquely American phenomenon or is it universal? Previous studies on Finland's college student population are sparse. This is mainly because of the small target population. Finland has a population bet...

Autonomous robots of all kinds, various services and social robots, industrial and medical robots perform a broad spectrum of tasks alongside humans. Today, robots can play influential roles during pandemic situations where the amount of human contact could be decreased or avoided. This paper presents a heuristic approach that monitors an area by closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to monitor the social distancing between groups and people. Based on the CCTV footage, an algorithm makes a decision that presents better placement for people or groups. Finally, a robot guides the person and groups placed too close to each other to the new location generated by the heuristic method.

However, getting students to reflect critically and in-depth can present a challenge. In this exploratory study we show how using reflective video clips can trigger and support reflection in entrepreneurship education. Data from 77 reflective video clips from a cohort of BA students in Denmark and Finland were analyzed to help understand how these clips had stimulated reflection, the nature of the reflection and its outcomes in terms of students’ learning. Findings show that the video clips provided a useful vehicle for stimulating in-depth reflection, reflection that brought to the fore tacit assumptions, helped make sense of experiences and even led to a level of personal reframing in relation to entrepreneurship that changed career aspirations.

Finland is an unexamined population on this issue. In the current project, we surveyed students (n = 119) in the spring of 2014. We found unethical behavior is common on projects but less common on exams. We also found students are unwilling to report wrongdoing by other students. We examined differences between students' attitudes on cheating based on several demographic factors, including gender, age and major. We conclude by discussing the implications for further research in this area.
