This document presents an overview of policies on school textbooks in four Latin American countri... more This document presents an overview of policies on school textbooks in four Latin American countries: Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico. Based on a documentary analysis, it reports on the most important aspects of school textbook policy in these countries in terms of policy types, major changes in the last 20 years, production, purchasing, distribution and funding. One of the limitations of this document is that it does not report information regarding the use of school textbooks as teaching materials, although it recognizes the specific importance of this topic in the appropriate contexts.
