Methodology: 34 para-athletes were interviewed during the Brazilian canoeing championship in 2017. The interview was divided into four parts: athlete's personal data, disability characteristics, sport practice, and relationship of performance with fatigue and DOMS. Results: 91% of the para-athletes reported DOMS and 88% fatigue. However, despite feeling DOMS and fatigue, 70% of the para-athletes did not undertake prevention or recovery interventions. Conclusion: Although Brazilian paracanoe para-athletes reported intense and frequent DOMS and fatigue, they do not use any strategy to control or reduce them.

The purpose of the study was to compare the muscle recruitment of the anterior tibial and long fibular muscles of athletes with and without chronic ankle instability by means of surface electromyography. Thirty-four athletes were recruited, divided into instability group (GI: n=14) and control group (GC: n=20), of both sexes and from different sport modalities, aged between 18 and 27 years old, history of ankle sprain in the last 12 months and functional limitation established by the Cumberland Ankle Instability (CAIT) questionnaire, the recruitment of the anterior tibial and long fibular muscles was analyzed by surface electromyography during the lunge exercise. Objective: Develop a comparative analysis of postural balance in rhythmic gymnasts. Methods: 10 rhythmic female gymnasts were evaluated on a force platform on one-foot and balance functional tests (Side Hop Test and Figure of Eight Hop Test). The anteroposterior and mediolateral of the center of pressure (COP) parameters were used for the functional tests, while for the functional tests, the performance time-seconds was analyzed. Results: Significant difference (p = 0.01) was found between lower limbs in the mean frequency parameter in the mediolateral direction, in which the non-dominant lower limb presented higher postural stability than the dominant one. For functional tests, there was no significant difference between limbs. Conclusion: The difference found in the control of balance of mediolateral direction may be related with different muscular actions of the hip region, which is present during the sport practice for stabilization, trunk maintenance and maneuvers performance with the lower limbs. These results indicate the need of a balance program and pelvic stabilization for the analyzed athletes in order to maintain muscular symmetry of the limbs for high sports performance.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of immersion in cold water on delayed muscle pain, muscle recruitment, postural control, and sleep in soccer athletes. Methodology: This is a randomized, blinded clinical trial. The sample consisted of 28 male soccer players. A maximal repetition test was applied for analysis of the muscular strength of the quadriceps femoris. Before the athletes responded to the sleep quality and pain scales, and the analysis of the muscle recruitment in the maximal voluntary isometric contraction of the quadriceps muscle and dynamic postural control were performed, both at the momentof kicking. The athletes were then submitted to a fatigue protocol for the quadriceps, and randomized into four intervention groups: cold water immersion (CWI), immersion in neutral water (INW), active recovery (AR), or rest. The same protocol of assessment was repeated at the follow up 24, follow up 48, and follow up 72 hours after the fatigue protocol. Results: only the group CWIreturned to the initial pain values after 72 hours, while the INW, AR,and rest groups presented greater pain. Sleep analysis, muscle recruitment, and postural control at the kick did not show significant differences for the established moments and interventions. Conclusion: immersion in cold water was effective for the reduction indelayed muscle pain, after 72 hours, when compared to AR, INW, and rest.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, with ethical approval, including a sample of five paraplegic athletes, four lower limb amputees, and four athletes without disabilities. Surface electromyography of the anterior deltoid, pectoralis major, triceps (long head), and latissimus dorsi muscles. The athletes rowed for three minutes in an ergometer kayak. The Root Mean Square (RMS) signal of the second minute of data collection, normalized by the RMS peak (% RMS), was considered for analysis. Results: The results of paraplegic athletes, amputees, and athletes without disabilities were similar, as follows; the anterior del
