Even if the above role represented hard work with many difficulties during naval battles, tasks such as chanting prayers to the Gods before battle or the provision of bread, wine and meat to rowers also came under his authority.

Some of them were lost and others were captured by enemies. This could have happened before, during, or at the end of a war conflict. Whatever the time, cases of lost or captured documents were an important factor for the subsequent attitude of belligerents.

There have been cases where people suffered, were tortured, and ended their lives below the sea. Beyond accidental drowning cases, the sea became a grave for murderers, mutineers, impious, and piracy victims as well.
The aim of the present paper is firstly to shed light on cases where drowning was also used as an act of violence and execution in ancient Greece, and secondly to open space for the further study and research of data which have remained obscure.

Unfortunately depictions with war character are quite limited. In addition, the paucity of naval battles on illustrations and texts raise many difficulties to the study of naval warfare. Warriors onboard, who consisted a primitive type of marine corps of Late Bronze Age Greece, offers an obstructive but very exiting area for research.

Was the factor that old sailclothes were used for other purposes such as bed covers, bags, clothes, etc, enough to make this lack of today’s excavations or something else did also happened? This paper tries to shed some light on the questions above.

But the absences of data make every effort of research difficult. How the ancient divers dived, what was their behaviour during submerged, what kind of equipment was available at their times, and how these were functioned, are matters that are still remaining with no answers until the moment that new data will be emerging.
Diving in classical times is a subject that fascinated researchers and deserves the effort for a further study.

A message, real or fake, usually include keywords that charges emotionally and causes the immediate reaction of the addressee. Beyond the positively charged words (such as freedom, faith,
homeland, justice etc) there are negatively charged words too. These are addressed directly to the receiver and causes negative emotions (for example, by using insults, the transmission of a message tends to become more personal). In ancient Greece, the use of negatively charged words during a battle or naval battle was, somehow, “negative verbal symbols” which, through witty way, could alter the outcome of the clash of opponents. Written on papyrus or leather, engraved in stone or
slingshots or expressed orally, in most cases, undermines severely the morale of the enemy.
