Few studies have been undertaken exploring the basic question of attitudes of student teachers co... more Few studies have been undertaken exploring the basic question of attitudes of student teachers concerning the integration of information technologies and communications (ITC) in school settings. Nevertheless, we recognize that the motivation of the primary players is essential for ensuring the integration of microcomputers into educational settings. The student teachers live in a techno-educational paradox. This paper discusses the results of a research study concerning beliefs of future teachers regarding the educational integration of ITC into school settings. The data revealed that the participants interviewed expressed favorable opinions regarding the presence of technology in today's society and for the future.

In North America and Europe, whilst demographics have accelerated the renewal of school principal... more In North America and Europe, whilst demographics have accelerated the renewal of school principals, schools are experiencing a structural shift characterised by a more decentralised public management, an autonomy of schools leading to profound changes without always guaranteeing an improvement in the teaching of students. What are the current skills required by new principals? How to identify those who need to develop their skills and know-how in order to better manage their schools? 101 actors in French-speaking education in Canada were questioned - experienced principals, new school managers and others actors in education. The results show that more new school principals state believe that they have the required skills, attitude and knowledge compared to those who believe they need to develop them, whereas more experienced directors and other educational actors consider that the new principals need to consolidate their administrative management skills and their attitudes compared ...

Devant l’ampleur actuelle du renouvellement des directions et des directions adjointes d’écoles p... more Devant l’ampleur actuelle du renouvellement des directions et des directions adjointes d’écoles partout au Canada, il apparaît urgent d’étudier les contextes de formation qui répondent le mieux à leurs besoins afin de permettre à ces nouvelles directions de demeurer en fonction et de remplir leurs tâches efficacement. Si nous n’en savons que très peu sur les contextes formels de formation, nous ignorons presque tout des contextes non formels et informels d’acquisition de connaissances et de compétences dans les directions d’écoles. Le but de notre étude est d’identifier les contextes d’acquisition de connaissances et de développement de compétences que les directions d’écoles francophones en milieu minoritaire préfèrent. Deux cent treize (n = 213) directions et directions adjointes d’écoles francophones ont participé à une étude pancanadienne. Development of new functionalities that can enable learning environment to enhance and promote le... more Development of new functionalities that can enable learning environment to enhance and promote learning is a major concern in the computer-assisted instructional area. Actually, one of the most important issues in this area is distance education. New technologies such as the Internet contribute to this issue. A distance learning environment called CYBERPHYSIQUE is presented in this paper. CYPERPHYSIQUE is an interactive computer-assisted environment that integrates an automatic generation kit for pedagogical activities. This environment is supported by a WWW client and is accessible through the Internet. CYBERPHYSIQUE offers some relevant functionalities, by taking into account the learner cognitive, affective and conative capabilities, by giving access to some metacognitive information during the learning process, by supporting automatic generation of learning activities, by supporting collaborative learning and by managing the feedback to be given to the learner.
