At Tecnologico de Monterrey, we tried to go further using virtual, augmented, and immersive reality to give continuity to learning through the creation of digital twins during the confinement by COVID-19, and now that we have returned to strengthen the learning of complex lessons, Using simulators replicating a manufacturing plant's operations allows students to better understand the transactions and generation of data formed by simulating the behavior during a determined period of demand. Gamifying the mixed reality lessons and simulators has allowed us to take learning to a high level of immersion on the part of the students. During distance learning, it was not easy to control the correct use of devices to avoid student distraction, now with the return to school, the use of these technologies allows not only an almost total immersion and increase in learning but also the development of graduation competencies not only of the students but also beyond the university. A key element of learning in the TEC21 model is the challenge posed by a training partner, but one of the restrictions is the time they dedicate to us and the accessibility to their processes. Through these technologies, digital twins are being created that allow students immersive learning of the processes of the training partners and, for them, the current analysis of their processes and training of new personnel. This document reflects the learning by designing, developing, and implementing mixed reality lessons, simulators, and gamification from August 2020 to date for the development of student learning in the TEC21 model.

The present study aimed to assess this type of learning experience from higher education students' perspectives. A mixed-method design was conducted with 796 students from six different disciplinary schools. The questionnaire included five constructs (Pedagogical, Collaboration, Learning Resources, Time Management, and Functional Features) with 17 quantitative items rated on a 1-5 Likert scale (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.955). Answers from two open questions were coded into two categories: Positive Experiences and Aspects to Improve. The highest constructs were Functional Features (3.60) and Time Management (3.15). The lowest score was Collaboration (2.77). Students appreciated the digital experience using Zoom and Canvas and their flexibility with time and space in their selfmanagement. They recommended improving the interacti...

Solving problems is a priority competency in training the Tecnologico de Monterrey students. This paper describes the academic experience of a gamification design using problem-solving in a role game. The objective was to redesign the primarily theoretical course to be more empathetic to the confinement situations of students during the pandemic, leveraging available educational technology using gamification. Thus, we created a board game called Problem-Solving Race (PSR), which has evolved into an online game students can play to develop this and other competencies for the graduation profile that we seek in our students. The university's "Virtual Campus" platform (using virtual reality technology) facilitated the gamification for a practical experience that highly engages the students.

Precision agriculture was born with the massive introduction of GPS at the beginning of this cent... more Precision agriculture was born with the massive introduction of GPS at the beginning of this century and consists of the use of technology to obtain data, its statistical treatment, and decision-making. At the Tecnologico de Monterrey experimental agriculture centre, precision agriculture has been implemented to obtain better sowing techniques and to optimise resources; this information has served the farmers of the Bajío region to improve their harvests. The use of satellites to obtain sensitive information, in addition with technological innovation such as the use of sensors and drones, provides a large amount of information that requires the implementation of design techniques. First, it is necessary to build databases and later, through the design of experiments and design thinking, to elaborate the statistical experiments in which the appropriate parameters will be obtained to maximise the production of agricultural products with the highest nutritional value and quality. Nowadays, supported with data science, design of experiments, and precision agriculture the present research is the base for future works applying these concepts in order to contribute to the development of Mexican agriculture. This has led during the last year that the department of industrial engineering of the School of Engineering and Sciences of Tecnológico de Monterrey the need of the design of databases to take advantage of the information obtained in the experimental field and using dynamic factor factorial design techniques and machine learning, they were capable to obtain information for decisionmaking.

The new educational model at Tecnologico de Monterrey, known as Tec21 and based on competencies, has left behind the educational model based on objectives. As part of its pedagogical support, the new model has considered two kind of competencies: the transversal competencies such as collaboration, problem solution, ethical analysis, leadership, innovation & critical thinking; and the disciplinaries competencies, for example, statistics, quality control, design of experiments, inventory control, planning, forecasting, for mention some academic areas. Competency-based learning curricular design in this educational model is necessary to transfer knowledge to students through academic activities schemed specially for it. These challenges and experiences are being created through activities to develop problem-solving competencies in the students. These activities where they apply their classroom learning are designed to be attractive and challenging for the students. The Industrial Engineering and Design departments of Tecnologico de Monterrey have merged the design of experiments and design thinking to create a methodology that allows students to design successful academic activities and provides added value in education. During the last 12 years, students at Tecnológico de Monterrey have experienced various activities both in Semana i and Semestre i (new class periods created under the Tec21 Educational Model). The learning activities contained challenges to resolve during the school periods, which evidence significant learning, as reported in the end-of-semester evaluations. By proposing academic activities based on a multilevel factorial model, a statistical model has been generated to find the best combination of the component factors and levels to give us a probability of success greater than 90% when implementing the activities. Following the design-thinking methodology allows the institution to immerse with the students, be empathetic, and clearly define our expectations of them and, consequently, have a robust activity design. Various design factors are built into the activities to make them attractive and challenging for the students and enable them to apply their classroom learning.

Tecnologico de Monterrey, like most universities in the world, is delivering classes remotely using internally developed and external platforms designed to continue the practices that were done every day in laboratories, facilities, and visits to companies and institutions. This document describes the migration of academic activities, designed under the university's Tec21 Educational Model guidelines, to an internet platform that adopts virtual and augmented reality to deliver learning with the same academic quality as the traditional face-to-face classes. Our training partners in industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations can communicate and access the practice activities on the virtual platforms. The Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Engineering and Design has worked t...

For this reason, the Tecnológico de Monterrey has included as part of the training of its students the modality, Semestre i, sustained through the teaching methodology of challenge-based learning. Recognizing this new way of learning, the purpose of this paper is to address the study of four basic constructs: student engagement, teacher–student relationship, teamwork and time management. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory factor analysis was performed on the factors associated with the Semestre i, as well as a correlational analysis between these and the academic achievement of the students in the 2017 August–December period. Findings The results indicate that the four constructs analyzed were potentialized...

It was found that as the temperature increased, a smaller overpotential was required to initiate the deposition process of silver. The experimental current density transients were adequately described by a theoretical model involving the simultaneous presence of two processes, namely adsorption of silver ions and multiple 3D nucleation and growth limited by diffusion. It was also shown that for all the temperatures considered, there exists an overpotential (À 0.25 V), at which the maximum values for the nucleation rate and the number density of active sites were obtained.
