And being a developing country, maternal anemia occurs between 30-60% of pregnant women. Among the risk factors associated with prematurity, anemia has been one of those that has generated the most controversy, an association that has not been well studied in our environment. Objective: To determine if maternal anemia is a risk factor for preterm delivery in pregnant women at the Ramiro Priale Priale National Hospital during the period July-December 2019. Material and methods: an analytical, observational, retrospective study was carried out. of cases and controls. The study population consisted of 156 patients who had a pre-term or full-term delivery, who were divided into two groups: with the presence of anemia or not. Results: Late prematurity was 76.9% of patients. Maternal anemia was found in 58% of preterm birth cases, and of which 95% had mild anemia. The presence of maternal anemia is a risk factor for developing preterm birth, with an odss ratio of 2.68, which was significant. Conclusions: Maternal anemia is a risk factor for pre-term delivery in patients at the Hospital Nacional Ramiro Priale Priale during the period july-december 2019.
