A comparative analysis of the most well-established estimates of labour automation, the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) degree of automation estimates and Frey and Osborne’s future probabilities of automation was carried out to see whether, and to what extent, these estimates are compatible. Results show significant distributional differences between them, which are quantified into automation-triggered disruption risks at the occupational level, as current levels of labour automation are, in some cases, well below their future estimates. Work context features were used to derive a typology of occupations, which can explain up to one-third of the current, ...

The preventing measures against the spread of the virus determined an increase in e-commerce activity in general, and in mobile commerce in particular. In this regard, sellers redefined their strategies revolving around smartphone applications for online shopping, which will gradually become the global shopping standard. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to evaluate the current situation of e-commerce, focusing on the main transformations since the beginning of the pandemic. The methods used in the paper consist in both qualitative research of the literature regarding e-commerce and a quantitative analysis that captures two aspects: on one hand it highlights the change determined by the pandemic in online commerce, and on the other hand it shows an X-ray of the EU states positioning in terms of e-commerce evolution. The latter consists in a comparat...

The rapid development of high-tech technologies, software and hardware, have allowed the emergence of a new trend in the health system, telemedicine. The aim of this paper is to propose a detailed analysis of the openness of the European health system to innovation, in particular to the adoption of telemedicine solutions. Thus, the aim is to identify the barriers of this type of medicine by studying the literature. The application of the analysis in principal components highlights factors that influence the decision of a member state of the European Union to adopt or postpone this trend such as education, level of technology or demographic aspects. The analysis is completed by the study of telemedicine in Romania. The results of the statistical models capture the evolution of telemedicine, offering a general perspective on the spatial impact, emphasizing the s...

In the study, there were included 57 individuals, of both gender, aged over 60 years of age (range = 60–91 years of age, mean = 76.42 years) and diagnosed with diabetes, from two primary care offices from the county of Iasi, Romania. For each of them, we conducted open interviews, and consequently we analyzed and coded the data accordingly to grounded theory. The management of diabetes implies adjustments of diet, nonpharmacological strategies, medication, caring, and also the choice of being compliant or not. Following the inductive theory, there have been identified the following concerns and expectations of elderly diabetic patients about everyday living and their remaining life: reducing their efforts accordingly to the cumulus of diseases and the decline of their qual...

Social exclusion may manifest through spatial concentration of deprived population in communities... more Social exclusion may manifest through spatial concentration of deprived population in communities located in certain areas. The globalization has reshaped the social and spatial geography of cities which led to major implications for research on social exclusion. Thus, in any practical formulation of social inclusion policies, it is necessary to consider the idea that social exclusion is inherently spatial. By addressing the territorial dimension of social exclusion, some important theoretical issues about the interaction of the two concepts ("social" and "space") are analyzed. Based on theoretical-conceptual contributions developed recently, this paper analyzes this dimension of social exclusion.

In this environment, digital skills and competences are essential to achieve the professional success and personal development of any individual. The positive impact that information and communication technology has on education cannot be disputed, but there are also some obstacles that need to be overcome in order to make the most of these benefits. An essential aspect to consider is that technology has repercussions not only on pupils and students, but also on teachers, who must adapt and acquire the knowledge necessary to disseminate information. Having as the main objective of reflecting the impact of digitalization on the educational sector, the paper highlights the basic concepts in the field of digital technology and, at the same time, the current implications on educational processes. Social inclusion is a concept that can actually be defined, which means it can probably be measured. On this basis, a continuous effort is being made to measure the social inclusion elements, so the results can be used to build new indicators that help measure the multiple dimensions of social inclusion: The Social Inclusion Index, the Human Opportunity Index. This paper presents the development, based on multivariate data analysis techniques and methods, of an aggregated indicator of social inclusion for the member countries of the European Union which, besides the traditional variables (GDP), also measures the factors related to civil and political rights, women’s rights or perception of the LGBT community.

The study aims to identify the influence of factors such as the circular economy, digital innovation, sustainable entrepreneurship on social progress and completes the current approach identified in the literature by assessing the dependencies between the phenomena represented by them. The quantification of the influences of the enumerated factors on social progress was achieved by identifying some synthetic indicators, such as composite indices, which would surprise the complexity of the analyzed phenomena. To measure the progress of the transition to the circular economy – using multivariate analysis methods – a composite indicator has been proposed and determined that allows the ranking of EU states according to its orientation, as a premise of social progress, and can substantiate the adjustment national policies. The integration of the proposed indicator in the regression models used, with simi...

Education aims to shape the human personality according to its particularities but also according to the social dynamics, the mobility of teachers through the dynamic integration of man in society. Education differs from one historical stage to another. With the advancement of technology, students have the opportunity to take online courses, regardless of where they are, age, physical limitations or personal schedule. Technology can open up new opportunities for learning and assessment. With the help of the regression analysis applied based on the indicators provided by the National Institute of Statistics: the number of students, computers, laboratories and workshops in each county in Romania (2010-2017) tested the influence of technology on the number of students enrolled in schools. The main conclusion of the study emphasizes that a higher number of children e...

To avoid disastrous consequences with economic, social, political and ethnic implications, it is necessary to identify viable solutions so that the food surplus can be redistributed to food banks, food pantries or social supermarkets, in optimal conditions, thus becoming a sustainable social good. This study aims to analyse the link between food banks, considered charities and social supermarkets. It is also useful to identify policies to support food donation actions but, simultaneously, to identify solutions to improve supply management in the field. Simultaneously, it wants to identify functional solutions at the level of European countries that may have applicability in the US, giving people who face food and financial insecurity, dignified access to products needed for daily consumption. The authors consider it necessary to identify innovative solutions to reduce food losses and waste but also promoting actions to raise public awareness for a rational and healthy consumption.

Thus, the evolution coefficients, for the period 2020-2025, registered a trend of decrease in road traffic. Based on the analysis of the results of the automatic traffic records, it was found that the average daily average traffic increased by about 4.7% in 2016 compared to 2015 (the year of the last general circulation census) and is in continuous growth, one of the reasons being removal of car registration tax. In 2015, for the development of evolution coefficients and the rates of evolution of traffic on the national road network, the linear regression method was used which took into account both the evolution of road traffic reported in 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010, as well as the evolution of road traffic on the traffic counters network for the period 2010-2015. The paper analyzes aspects of the efficiency of the method used until the pr...

The paper aims to identify consumers' perceptions of the use of sustainable food packaging, in an exploratory survey of a sample of 280 respondents, knowing the importance of recycling to create a healthy and sustainable environment. The relevance of the research derives from the need to know the behavior of consumers in a certain geographical area, with regard to the aspects related to the recycling and sustainability of packaging. This is a component of green marketing that involves the management of activities related to the reconsideration of products and production processes, as well as the use of eco-sustainable packaging. The validation of the research hypotheses was done with methods of non-parametric analysis of the interdependencies between the identified variables, the results obtained highlighting the need to study this issue on a representative sample, using a more complex questionnaire. 81% of the study respondents identified as the main benefit for the use of sustainable packaging the possibility of living in a less polluted environment, an essential component of the development of ecological and sustainable food systems, being identified in the ability of producers and traders to communicate the placement on the market of sustainable packaging for marketed products.
