Daniel Gaude-Fugarolas - Academia.edu (original) (raw)
I was born in Barcelona in 1972. I obtained both degrees in Industrial (i.e. Manufacturing) and Materials Science Engineer (both as M.Eng.) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and subsequently obtained a Cambridge University Doctorate (Physical Metallurgy). In an altogether different discipline, I obtained recently the Degree in Egyptology at Museu Egipci de Barcelona/Fundació Clos.
I have enjoyed ample international experiences, both professionally and as an independent traveller. I have worked in prestigious organisations like Cambridge University (UK), Universite Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), the Commissariat de Energie Atomique (CEA Saclay -France) and Lulea University (Sweden). I have also visited about 30+ countries in 4 continents, professionally or for leisure, including having lived substantial time in 5 of them, always enjoying and learning from their cultures and values. I am fluent in four languages.
During this time I have spent 15+years doing industrial and academic research in metallurgy (mainly on steel), in areas related to automotive, aerospace, welding, and nuclear industries. I have published a number of scientific publications in those fields, and I am in the Scientiffic Committee of International Conferences FIMPART (Hyderabad, India) and CMEME (Biskra, Algeria). I am Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society (and alumnus of Corpus Christi College (Cambridge)) and member of TMS and IOM3, as well as of the Catalan Engineer Association (Col.legi Enginers Industrials de Catalunya). Similarly, I am a full member of the Egypt Exploration Society (UK).
Nowadays, I am based in Barcelona again, doing independent research in Physical Metallurgy and Engineering, and at the same time I also offer expert advice on Innovation, Engineering and Physical Metallurgy, as well as technical training and supervision of Innovation or Research and Development projects.
