Twenty store loadings, with ten different weapons, will be certified on three F-35 aircraft variants during the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) phase of the program. Major cost savings targets for store separation are wind-tunnel testing and flight testing. Several innovative techniques have been developed and implemented to achieve an affordable store separation wind-tunnel test program while maintaining quality. Likewise, high fidelity store trajectory simulations and flight test rehearsal activities will lead to reduced flight test cost. Techniques for increased test efficiency, leveraging aircraft and store similarities, developing flight representative models, and reducing risk will be described. These techniques provide a strong basis for maintaining an affordable F-35 platform for current and future weapons integration.
