This was due to the historical events that took place in the region since the beginning of this century. Russia was gradually conquering the Caucasus, and its actions had to be unconditionally supported by both historical works and materials published in the press, which aroused great interest in the Russian public. The article encompasses and examines the book of the Russian poet, historian and state councilor Alexei Vasilyevich Marsov "Short Georgian History", which was published in 1840 in Moscow, in the printing house of the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages. Since 1836, while teaching lessons from Georgian history at the Tiflis Theological Seminary, he made a short outline of them. Information provided by the author in his publication is very brief. In this article, we will try to answer the questions-what is the assessment of the past events in Georgia in the book of A. Marsov? Is this myth-making and are we dealing with the fruits of the author's own imagination, or is there an objective description of the facts in the work? A. Marsov introduced Georgia to the Russian-speaking readers, but in many cases to distorted facts. In using such material, the researcher must be critical to avoid falsifying history that took place centuries ago.

It was compiled at the Alexander Nevsky Academy and published in 1802. The Metropolitan published this work anonymously. The book is dedicated to Emperor Alexander I. In the foreword to the reader, he denies the reliability of the information of Western European authors about Georgia and promises to provide objective information. He was interested in the information not only about Georgian music, literature, poetry, but also political events of the past. The book by the Russian author also examines the work of the great Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli. It is an interesting fact-why a representative of the Russian clergy tried to write a book about a country where he had not been, and the only base of his work were the stories of others and several various historical sources? Was it his own desire or was he fulfilling the order of the Russian government or synod? The work focuses on the importance of this book in the state and political life of Russia. It should be noted that this book, after being published in Russia, in 1804, was translated and published in Germany and was reviewed in the Western periodicals. The article uses Georgian and foreign sources, as well as scientific literature about the work of E. Bolkhovitinov.

What were the ways of development chosen by countries of South Caucasus (Transcaucasia), which were part of Russian Empire after the October Revolution? What kind of attitude did the Georgian political parties had about Soviet Russia? What did Georgia go through inthis short period: from October 1917 till 26th of May 1918, till establishing the independent republic of Georgia?
