The study takes into account different sizes for the permanent magnets and the relative position of the moving armature over the stator and shows when the magnetizing flux is maxim. For different positions of the moving armature the radial and axial forces are computed. The magnetic field and the forces are computed on finite element method basis using FEMM.

Keeping the same rotor diameter the generator's magnetic flux is maximized by changing the permanent magnets and rotoric slot opening dimensions. The studies show that for certain values of these dimensions the magnetic flux (flux linkage and mutual flux) has maximum values.

The driving propeller is modeled with an assembly of variable frequency converter, three-phase induction motor and speed reducer. Thus the motor's speed can be easily driven in the range of (300-1500) rpm and its size is little. The speed reducer lowers the speed 5 times so that the generator will spin in the range (60-300) rpm. This range is usual for the propellers of wind turbines. In the end the trials of the system are presented using a specific data acquisition system.

These conditions are based on the solution space of the corresponding linear, homogeneous problem and on the size of the nonlinear perturbation. The results presented here are more general nonlinearities than those in [17] and [26].

The same magnetic field is computed using a 2D finite element method taking into account the non-linear magnetizing characteristic of the transformer’s core. A comparison between the results of the two methods is also presented.
