Sus creadores aseguran que las personas podrían experimentar una mejora del equilibrio, fuerza, flexibilidad, resistencia, concentración, coordinación y tiempo de recuperación, entre otros. El propósito de la presente investigación será evaluar el efecto del holograma Power Balance® sobre el equilibrio, la flexibilidad, la fuerza y la velocidad-coordinación en estudiantes universitarios. Una muestra de 105 jóvenes voluntarios estudiantes universitarios de educación física (edad 20,91±3,36 años; masa 69,69±11,35 kg; talla 171,70±8,07 cm) fue utilizada. The simultaneous adsorption of both imazalil (IMZ) and thiabendazole (TBZ) fungicides in a Cu 2+-... more The simultaneous adsorption of both imazalil (IMZ) and thiabendazole (TBZ) fungicides in a Cu 2+-exchanged Mt was studied in this work. Kinetic studies were used to determine the rate law which describes the adsorption of individual fungicides onto the adsorbent. Adsorption isotherm of individual and combined fungicides was done to evaluate synergic or antagonistic effects. The Mt-Cu material considerably improved TBZ and/or IMZ adsorption from aqueous suspensions with respect to raw Mt, leading to removal efficiencies higher than 99% after 10 min of contact time for TBZ and IMZ C i = 15 and 40 mg/L, respectively, when a solid dosage = 1 g/L was used. The adsorption sites involved were determined by a combination of X-ray diffraction (XRD) determinations and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), indicating that fungicides were bonded to Cu 2+ cations, while the rate limiting step was the formation of coordination bonds. The adsorption mechanism proposed is that of ligand exchange between water and fungicide molecules in the metal coordination sphere. The single-crystal structure for the IMZ-Cu 2+ complex indicated that four molecules were bounded to the copper centers, while two molecules of TBZ are bounded to copper explaining the higher IMZ uptake capacity for the Mt-Cu material.

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is defined as the direct and deliberate destruction of one’... more Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is defined as the direct and deliberate destruction of one’s own body tissue in the absence of lethal intent. Following decades of progressive increase in the incidence of NSSI among adolescents and young adults, as well as growing scientific interest, the disorder was listed as a condition for further study in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (fifth edition). In this review we provide updated information on this phenomenon, focusing on: prevalence, course and prognosis; associated factors; its relationship with psychopathology; and the role of the mass media, social networks, and the internet. Finally, we discuss some conclusions and future proposals, emphasizing the need for collaborative work to better understand NSSI in Spain, and to improve prevention and treatment strategies.

Along with FtsA, FtsZ and ZipA form a proto-ring at midcell that recruits additional proteins to eventually build the division septum. Cells carrying the thermosensitive zipA1 allele divide fairly normally at 30°C in rich medium but cease dividing at temperatures above 34°C, forming long filaments. In a search for suppressors of zipA1, we found that deletions of specific genes involved in amino acid biosynthesis could partially cell rescue growth and division at 34°C or 37°C, but not at 42°C. Notably, although a diverse group of amino acid biosynthetic gene deletions could partially rescue growth of zipA1 cells at 34°C, only deletions of genes related to the biosynthesis of threonine, glycine, serine and methionine could rescue at 37°C. Abstract A proof-of-principle study is presented in which the results of atomic-level simulations... more Abstract A proof-of-principle study is presented in which the results of atomic-level simulations of the thermal expansion and thermal conductivity of UO2 are integrated into the fuel performance code FRAPCON. The beginning-of-life (BOL) thermal conductivity profile of a fuel pellet and the evolution of the pellet expansion over its lifetime are determined. It is found that (a) modifying FRAPCON to accept input from atomistic simulations (or elsewhere, such as new experiments or other calculations) is relatively straightforward, at least for these two properties, and (b) the properties determined from atomistic simulations yield predictions in FRAPCON that are in good agreement for the BOL thermal conductivity, but much less satisfactory for the pellet expansion.

Artículo / Artigo Pintura sobre cobre: investigação sobre os materiais e técnicas utilizadas na c... more Artículo / Artigo Pintura sobre cobre: investigação sobre os materiais e técnicas utilizadas na camada de preparação segundo a tratadística e estudo analítico de duas obras atribuídas às escolas portuguesa e flamenga Resumo As pinturas sobre cobre foram produzidas, essencialmente, ao longo dos séculos XVI e XVII, mas a sua produção nunca cessou por completo, podendo encontrar-se pinturas sobre este tipo de suporte até ao século XX. Neste trabalho procedeu-se ao estudo deste tipo de pinturas segundo duas perspectivas. Por um lado, fez-se o levantamento das fontes documentais com interesse histórico e a sistematização da informação extraída da literatura dos séculos XVII e XVIII. Por outro lado, fez-se o estudo material de duas pinturas que envolveu a caracterização da técnica pictórica por microscopia óptica, a identificação de pigmentos e cargas presentes na camada preparatória por micro-espectroscopia de Raman e o estudo do suporte por estereomicroscopia, radiografia digital e espectrometria de emissão de raios X induzida por partículas (PIXE). Segundo os resultados obtidos, os materiais e as técnicas utilizadas nas duas obras são coerentes com a informação colhida nas 20 fontes literárias estudadas.

Here, liquid- and solid-state NMR, together with single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, were used to show different strategies to favor the gem-diol or carbonyl moieties and to isolate hemiacetal structures in formylpyridine and vitamin-B6-related compounds. The change in position of the carbonyl group in pyridine compounds had a clear and direct effect on the hydration, which was enhanced by trifluoroacetic acid addition. Because of their biochemical importance, vitamin-B6-related compounds were studied with emphasis on the elucidation of the gem-diol, cyclic hemiacetal or carbonyl structures that can be obtained in different experimental conditions. In particular, new racemic mixtures for the cyclic hemiacetal structure from pyridoxal are reported in trifluoroacetate and hydrochloride derivatives.

Coordination polymers with different P/(Zr + P) molar ratios were prepared by combining aqueous s... more Coordination polymers with different P/(Zr + P) molar ratios were prepared by combining aqueous solutions of Zr(IV) and benzenephosphonate derivatives. 1,3,5-Benzenetrisphosphonic acid (BTP) as well as phosphonocarboxylate derivatives in which carboxylate substitutes one or two of the phosphonate groups were chosen as the building blocks. The precipitates obtained on combining the two solutions were not X-ray amorphous but rather were indicative of poorly ordered materials. Hydrothermal treatment did not alter the structure of the materials produced but did result in improved crystalline order. The use of HF as a mineralizing agent during hydrothermal synthesis resulted in the crystallization of at least three relatively crystalline phases whose structure could not be determined owing to the complexity of the diffraction patterns. This article analyses the share of total income represented by employment earnings in the countri... more This article analyses the share of total income represented by employment earnings in the countries of Latin America over the last two decades. It first considers the wage share of gross domestic product (gdp) and then adds in the earnings of self-employed workers. The findings indicate that both total wages and total earnings declined as a share of gdp in most of the region's countries over the period, although there were some exceptions. The reduction in earnings inequality seen over the past decade was not usually accompanied by an increase in the gdp share of earnings. This means that the improvement in personal income distribution was not matched by an improvement in functional distribution.

En la actualidad se reconoce que la actividad fisica representa una fuente excelente e insustitui... more En la actualidad se reconoce que la actividad fisica representa una fuente excelente e insustituible de salud. Sin embargo, la practica reiterada de ejercicios que estan desaconsejados pueden danar seriamente la salud organica de los individuos e incluso llegar a provocar lesiones irreversibles (Lopez, 2001: 11). Nuestro objetivo principal sera, por tanto, evaluar si realmente los sujetos usuarios de las maquinas de musculacion situadas en el Paseo Maritimo Antonio Banderas y en el Paseo Maritimo de Pablo Ruiz Picasso tienen en cuenta los aspectos higienico postural y ergonomicos necesarios durante la ejecucion del remo. Las sesiones de observacion del presente estudio se realizaron a partir de las 20:00 h, durante cuatro dias, alternando entre ambos lugares, con una duracion de 60 minutos. La muestra total analizada ha sido de 88 sujetos, 44 varones y 44 mujeres; para la cual no se ha seguido ningun criterio de exclusion (salvo repeticion), puesto que era estudiada toda persona que durante las sesiones de observacion ejecutaba el ejercicio. Se ha estudiado los errores en la rodilla, la columna dorsolumbar y cervical, el calzado y la vestimenta. En todos los puntos estudiados se encontraron numerosos errores, siendo especialmente significativo la flexion dorsolumbar con un 81.82% del total de los sujetos observados. La investigacion ha puesta en evidencia la mala higiene postural y ergonomia de los usuarios del remo estudiados. A primera vista, los datos son como poco preocupantes, puesto que mas del 90% de la poblacion estudiada comete algun error, por lo que mas que encontrar un beneficio organico vera quebrantada su salud. Para evitar estas acciones desaconsejadas, los sujetos han de estar informados al respecto. Para lograrlo, pensamos que una primera medida seria la puesta de carteles informativos junto a cada maquina indicando, al menos basicamente, la ejecucion correcta del ejercicio.
